The YMCA Downtown has the best preschool program. Our daughter, our youngest of three children, has been a part of the Y family since she was 6 weeks old. In particular, one of their staff is the most thoughtful and professional. Huge shout out to Curtis! He is by far one of the most caring and professional individual's we have ever met. Highly recommend the Y program and highly recommend Curtis to care for your children.

Signed up for Gym but needed my child looked after for 35 mins while I worked out our experience was terrible she was picked on by staff members which I spoke to fun zone manager she was bullied and hit and because she is 9 staff made it ok I asked multiple times are they’re any brown skin babies in here which I’ve seen once the staff bunch of high schoolers with BAD attitudes my sticker were given was thrown at me multiple times but staff which I forgot her name. But because she’s slow they made excuses she gave another white mother the sticker in her hand so to us she knew exactly what she was doing canceling refunding my money YMCA Frederick handles issues like this to lightly… I wish I had the time to speak to the higher ups!!!
Kelly in the fun zone is a lovely Lady she is so welcoming

The Frederick Y has a LOT of programs that should interest people of all ages. If I end up moving to the area I'll most definitely join.

The YMCA is more than just a gym; it's a cornerstone of community wellness and support. I've been a member for several years now, and had paused my membership for a wile but just renewed it. I was assisted by Jill Slaughter and front desk rep Felicia and every visit reaffirms my appreciation for what this organization offers. Every person I speak with whether in person or by phone has been extremely helpful.
First and foremost, the facilities are top-notch. Whether you're into cardio, weightlifting, swimming, or group classes, the YMCA has it all. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and there's always enough variety to keep your workouts interesting. The pool area is especially impressive, with clean water and ample space for both lap swimming and recreational use.
What truly sets the YMCA apart, though, is its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Regardless of your age, fitness level, or background, there's a place for you here. I've seen people of all abilities working out side by side, supported by knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome and comfortable.
But perhaps the most rewarding aspect of being a YMCA member is the sense of belonging it fosters. Whether you're chatting with fellow members in the locker room or participating in a group exercise class, there's a real sense of camaraderie here. It's more than just a place to work out; it's a community hub where friendships are formed and support networks are built.
If you're looking for a fitness facility that prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and community, look no further. Joining the YMCA isn't just an investment in your physical health—it's an investment in your overall well-being.

(2/2/24) - This was my first time visiting - what a great facility. The place was spotless and very well maintained. The Staff was very professional and courteous. I look forward to returning (making good use of my new membership!).
Update (2/7/24) - The YMCA of Frederick County Teaching Kitchen has a fresh produce donation/sale 3p-6p, every Wednesday. Available items may vary from week to week. Check the Facebook page for the weekly specifics and/or stop by. The Teaching Kitchen is detached from the main facility and is located at 629 North Market Street. I spent $17 for a very good amount of healthy produce (see photo) and intend to take advantage of this opportunity weekly.
