For a senior, this gym meets my work out needs. The only complaint I have is that in the men's locker room, some boys videotape themselves flexing their muscles and end up videotaping other people in the locker room. The biggest issue for me is when I am urinating, as the boys face the mirror (to see their poses) with their phones on the sink facing away from the mirror but towards the urinals. So when I go to urinate (and due to age and a bladder condition I have to go more frequently these days), I can feel my backside being videotaped when I am trying to empty my bladder. This creates a very unpleasant situation when I am just answering the call of nature. I have never experienced such a situation in many decades of going to gyms. I hope that management can address this privacy issue. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Good selection of equipment and nice staff. I knock off points because it's difficult to get in a workout at times because of the many inconsiderate guys (mainly young guys/teenagers) who hog equipment. Some of these guys stay on a station for 30+ minutes while texting for 5+ minutes between sets. They ignore you if you're standing by to work in and act all hostile if you politely ask to get in a set. So that's the main downside to this place: the lack of gym etiquette mainly with some guys. No issues with female clients though. The staff should have some type of orientation before letting people work out, as some members don't have a clue of how to share equipment at a public gym. So with all the nice equipment, the above creates a very negative experience for me and limits my ability to workout at this place.

The Rec. center has always been my go to gym since I was in high school. As a Fredericktonian, many have a draw to this gym because of the history and environment. $20 a month, city resident, no contract needed is a great price as well. However the gym needs some serious updating (facility and equipment). Most of the equipment is outdated by decades. The facility needs some attention as well. Frederick City Parks & Recs need to address the equipment situation. Someone who actually cares needs to step in and get the ball rolling. I know many gym attendees that are even willing to donate equipment or money for new equipment. Come on Frederick Parks & Recs, get it together!

I take an aerobic class. The policy is mask on the whole time in the gym. Everything is sanitized when you leave. The floor is marked with 6feet by 6feet boxes. The instructor is awesome. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Super job checking temperature upon entrance, with few people in the building for reserved pickleball courts, and everyone wearing masks. I felt safe.
