I had a very unpleasant experience at this location from the very start.
I had written a 1-star review and delayed it only because I was so frustrated with the responses I was getting. I’ve started over my review now that my truck is finished and back in my possession. I’m giving this place 3 stars also because things might turn around. They have a new GM - John. He came in during the 2nd or 3rd week of my truck being in the shop. He was handed quite the location which I feel needs major work to move to a 5-star body shop again.
The service advisor I dealt with was unprofessional. I was going to suggest to the GM to fire the individual, but the guy already quit. That’s a blessing!
Basically it was this person who told me 5-7 business days and then really just stopped communicating with me. The entire project which started as a $3200 repair… took 1 day shy of 6 WEEKS.
John really did pull through and help get my truck back to me. So without going into all the details, I’ll just wrap up by saying I appreciate the GM working with me when I really had one of the worst experiences of any small business in Frederick. I hope he can turn the ship around.
The actual work on the truck, from what I can tell so far looks flawless.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BODY SHOP.
This place is very fast when they hear insurance is paying but when its mistakes from their own irresponsibility they don’t care.
My uncle had our car body work done here, and coincidently a year later my headlight stops working. Bad installation, bad parts, etc. i called and explained my situation my uncle who brought in the car had passed away since, front desk (TERESA) extremely rude about did not give two cent about it and kept pushing me to call my insurance rather than help. I called back 3 times DOES NOT PICK UP.
I later on contacted the manager here (John Mcclintock) told him what was going on and he said he would help (gave me false hope) it is now 3 weeks later with NO RESPONSE. I even sent in two follow up emails. I waited 3 whole weeks to right this review. I feel more safe getting their poor job done somewhere else. I DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE.
UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Save yourself the trouble, go to Top Gun they will take care of you regardless of situation.

Side mirror was hit in the middle of night and came here to get an estimate. Had been here a year ago or so before staff changes.
Ended up going with a local, quality body shop that charged us $523 less for the same job.
We were quoted $1059 by Crash Champions (former Modern Auto Body) for parts, labor, and a pre/post scan ($370) to have the mirror be replaced. This is higher than we expected. They quoted us 90 minutes at $75/hr for labor, and 48 minutes at $75/hr for paint. We ended up getting other estimates.
A local Hyundai dealership who does body work quoted us just under $800 and felt bad about the high cost when he told us.
We ended up choosing local body shop who quoted us $536. Said the job would take 30 minutes all together.

The staff was very kind and quickly helped resolve my car issues, despite it being the day after a holiday. I don’t think I could have asked for better service!

I had a terrible experience with Crash Champions Auto Body Shop and cannot recommend their services. For what should have been a quick repair for minor damage, they took an excessively long time and repeatedly lied about the completion dates.
They even blamed my insurance for being unresponsive, but it turned out they never submitted the necessary requests. When my insurance company reached out to them directly to resolve the issue, Crash Champions staff became upset rather than taking responsibility for their mistakes.
When I finally picked up my car, the work was riddled with imperfections that I had to point out and have redone. Their lack of cleanliness was also unacceptable—my car wasn’t returned in good condition, and I discovered they had used my car’s tools during the repair process without asking.
The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and failure to take responsibility made this an incredibly frustrating experience. I strongly advise against using this shop for your auto repair needs.

DO NOT GO HERE! TERRIBLE !!! GENERAL MANAGER (DAVID) WAS SO RUDE!!!! THE RECEPTIONIST IS TERESA. OLDEST WOMAN EVER IS SO RUDE TOO.
THEY HAVE KEPT MY CAR FOR PVER A MONTH AND REFUSE TO GIVE IT BACK. THEY CHARGE $72 PER HOUR FOR LABOR . MY CAR HAD A SMALL SCRATCH . IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A MONTH TO FIX. I REGRET SO MUCH TAKING MY CAR HERE. DONT PAY ATTENTION TO POSITIVE REVIEWS. THOSE ARE PROVABLY FAKE.

Vehicle towed in for undercarriage tie rod and control arm damage. Customer pay claim - shop was very high and chose to remove out. Shop wouldn’t release without a 600$ payment for sitting 3 1/2 days 400$ storage 100 admin fee and 100$ to remove wheel locks and put on a lift (which I had no issue paying). When came to get vehicle the wheel and tire was not put back on (they claimed it wouldn’t) I said a spare would fit to get in on the flat bed. Refused to provide a larger jack and just wouldn’t acknowledge me after saying nothing they can do tech is done. had to put on spare while it was hanging in the air from the tow truck. Had two major repairs done when this shop was Modern AB - and was planning on returning here to have repair done on another vehicle. Beware if you aren’t going through insurance they will price hike you they made 600$ for about 15 minutes of work. I’ve been in the auto industry 30+ years - customer use at your own risk there are plenty of other good shops in Frederick to do business with. Attached are before photo of how they left the vehicle and had to place spare on myself while they sat in the shop.
The 4.7 is deceiving most of these reviews are before modern auto body changed to crash champions, I had two vehicles previously fixed with modern and the service was fantastic. They still have retained the same front desk person who is very polite and professional, but as far as the rest of the experience goes, beware. 4 reviews since the change 2 of them 1 star. 🤔

BEWARE: David, the owner, is a liar and forced his employee to lie to me about work done to my car.
From the beginning: Got into a minor accident that just left a crack on my bumper. My insurance recommended Modern Auto Body as their "preferred" shop so I went there for the repairs. Called me when my car was done (which took twice as long as they estimated) and I said Id pick up the next morning. Get there only to find out they weren't sure if a vendor completed a task so they had to call the vendor back out and will take 1-2 hours. meaning I could not take my car. I have my 3 yr old with me so this was inconvenient but ok, took my rental and went shopping to kill time. Come back 2 hours later, take my car home to find MOUSE DROPPING INSIDE MY CAR. My entire console was covered and inside the glove box. (Pictures attached) This is disgusting! How could they return a car to me with mouse droppings all over? I can understand that living near wooded areas may bring mice however how they handled it is awful. I call them to let them know what I found and receive hesitation about what "they can do for me". I was initially told they can vacuum it out. I said thats not enough. I will not drive my child around in a car with mouse droppings in the ventilation system potentially bc how else would they get in? I wanted 3 things, the car vacuumed and sanitized, the ventilation system and engine checked for damage and droppings and new cabin filter. Too much too ask? This is a 6 month old new car worth $60k. I did not trust my car in their care to have it returned with droppings from vermin inside.

What happened next is shocking. I took the car back the same day after 2-3 phone calls back and forth, to be met with hesitation even though they told me to come back. I was told they checked everywhere for my filter and no one has it in stock so they cant do that. They are also waiting for the adjustor to "approve it". I asked approve what? My insurance is to pay for something that happened on the auto body shops property and for a $40 filter? Ridiculous!
Tim tells me to wait while he takes it to the detailers to clean. 30 mins later or so comes back out to tell me "surprise, David ordered a filter and didn't tell me" so we were able to replace that. I was definitely hesitant to believe that bc Tim was initially adamant that there were no filters in stock but David managed to get one delivered in 30 mins?
Tim takes me out to show me how they cleaned up the car and "on scouts honor" they replaced the cabin filter and checked the engine and found no further issues. I said ok, cool, but I would like my old filter back. Tim pulled out his phone to show me a picture. I said no, I want my old filter please. He said ok and went back to get it while I waited in my drivers seat. When Tim came back WITH David, empty handed, I knew they lied. David aggressively opens my passenger good and pulls the glove box open while having a massive attitude saying "If you want to go dig through the dumpster you can but were not" and offered to show me the filter in my car. I asked why he has a massive attitude and raising his voice when I have been super understanding even though it was my third time there today and he starts yelling again. I told him to get out of my car. Hind site, I wish I would have let him rip the filter out but I was not going to let him yell at me. He slammed the door and told Tim he is not allowed to talk to me anymore and they both started to walk away so I got out of my car and yelled across the car to let them know I know they are liars and Tim even said "scouts honor". Tim did turn around when I asked him if he lied to my face and told me he is just the messenger. So to my understanding, David told him to lie. Thats when David charged back at me with a waving finger in my face yelling at me (im a 5'2 small female in a parking lot with two

Modern Auto Body was super helpful and great to work with. We had to have some deer damage repaired and it looks like nothing happened. They were also quick and easily worked with our insurance.

I want to say what an amazing job your team did. Not only did the car look amazing but just the way your team facilitated everything was above and beyond. I run my own cleaning business & am a one man show at the moment, so I really appreciated that your office spoke directly to the insurance company, not requiring me to be the middleman when my time is already so limited. You all communicated so well everything while still keeping me in the loop. As a busy person, I really appreciated that & your customer service. I just wanted to take the time to say this. I’ve been using Modern Auto Body for almost 20 years. They are definitely my “go to” for body work. The several times I’ve used them, the work was performed flawlessly. The staff are professional, kind and courteous. They are always willing to help with insurance issues on my behalf. Highly recommend them.

Wonderful experience with Modern Auto Body. First time using them and I'll definitely use again. Tory was amazing and kept me updated every week with information about my vehicle and/or insurance issues. Highly recommend!
