bought a sandwich full of mold today, july 18th. date on package lists july 11th with an expiry date of the 12th. not the first occurence of this store selling hazardous waste as food. whole store is riddled with inept stock rotation problems.

Corporate & Health Dept need to audit this store. Yesterday: - all ice cream was taken out of freezers because they were malfunctioning. - majority of meat was brown on edges and looked old. - much of fruit beyond ripe. Other produce looked ok. Overall, mismanagement. Staff did not seem to care. Sad situation.

This is the worst grocery store I've ever patronized. As I approached the store overturned shopping basket blocked the sidewalk and there was trash/ litter all over the sidewalk. The indoors isn't in the great shape. The staff doesn't restock the shelves and especially the milk section.
Then there are the long lines during evening hours. Not enough staff on schedule.
If one wants a clean store, a well stocked store, quality meats and produce, helpful and caring staff, visit Harris Teeter, Trader Joe's, Safeway or the Giant in Alexandria.
No way the residents of Alexandria would tolerate what the customers of the Fort Washington Safeway tolerate. Corporate Safeway realizes the residence of Fort Washington are complacent and will tolerate filth and poor service.
I understand several civic associations have sent formal letters of complaint to HQ. Promises have been made that things will improve. Never happens.
The store has rightfully earned its nickname "The Ghetto Safeway!" ?
Customers who think this is a well run, well organized store with courteous employees need to get and shop in other areas. They will see a huge difference.

I placed a curbside pick up and arrived 20 minutes after my order was confirmed to be finished. When I arrived I called the store at the number listed on the sign however there was no answer. I called the number 4 times, but still no answer. I then went into the store to get my order and when I asked about the number listed outside on the sign to confirm it was correct, they appeared to be confused. They gave a vague apology and handed me my things! Horrible customer service! Additionally, elderly people were outside waiting as well and eventually had to go inside to carry items back to their car in 90 plus weather conditions. An overall disgusting experience

purchased ground beef today. pretty from the outside then old meat hidden throughout at the bottom. This is disgusting. if it is not old why is it hidden? This store needs to find another way discard old food. see pics

May 17 there was one cashier, 3 self checks available. lines were long, I waited too long for price check on produce that was 3 for $3 because bar code was missing so I had the self check clerk cancel what didnt ring up & I walked out. Customers waiting was saying how ridiculous the situation was. The self check clerk apologized but I told her it wasn't her fault & honestly she shouldnt be put in that type of situation & neither should customers. I'll spend my money at Giant where they seem to care about their employees & customers.

If you go on Sunday you can get a good deal on meats, especially chicken breasts, usually marked down. I get family packs for about 5 bucks

06/30/2022- Store has been remodeled. Not a good variety of produce. Nope.
03/09/24- Now you bring your own bags so I had mine in my cart. Stopped by bathroom to wash my hands, only gone a minute, when got back to my cart, bag was gone!! Pretty bad when people steal grocery bags.

Yes it has changed, because of the dedicated senior workers who have not only left, but have retired, and that being said it's a shame that our young generation has picked up that respect, and courtesy. It goes along way!

I just encountered my first racism at this location by the cashier. The person in front of me was an African American woman and the cashier was being pleasant to her and bagged her groceries with no issues. Now, when it was time for my groceries, there was no acknowledgment from the cashier, even though I had said "hello". From the moment it was my turn, the cashier decided she wasn't going to bag my groceries and purposely placed my bags and groceries on the belt for me to bag them. She was unaware that my husband was there and that he in fact is also African American. When my husband came over, she said hello to him and then realized we were together. Once we paid for our groceries, we noticed that she was pleasant to the person behind us who was also an African American and was clearly helping him bag his groceries.

Terrible. Every time I go in there, the carts are all out in the parking lot, not in the entrance, or they’re out of bags. Today, I went in there and they had no hand baskets. Where’s the courtesy clerk? Customer Service is unattended and the manager is off snuggling with the Starbucks people. This Safeway used to be nice but the quality of the produce and customer service has gone way down.im going to Giant.

It’s always something with this location as it pertains a pick up order. Almost every time I receive a message “ Safeway: Apologies, your pickup order is running behind schedule but we'll notify you as soon as it's ready.”This is an inconvenience all the way around the board. Most people choose their pick up time according to their availability and This places always drops the ball.
