Absolutely the worst! They frequently don't have medication in stock and today I dropped off my prescription around 2pm and got the text for pickup at 5:02pm. I get their at 5:15pm and they were closed. They closed at 5pm! My prescription was for antibiotics that the doctor wanted me to start on today. That's not happening now.

The Safeway in Fort Washington is selling Roasted Chickens that are not fully cooked! The skin varies from a cooked brown to a pale uncooked look. Parts of the meat inside ranges from done to pink or red. This is unexceptable, especially since their roasted chicken use to be very good.

On March 16th after a family affair we had a small get together at my brothers place. I ran into the store for a few things that we needed. The store was practically empty. I zipped down the isles and then made my way to the register. I was feeling tired so I went to a cashier and boy am I glad I did. Out of all the Safeway(s) in the area this is the first time that checkout was 100%. I approached the young lady named Wendy she said hello and did you find everything okay. She quickly checked me out even put my bags in the cart as they were filled with drinks. WOW! I paid and for the first time a cashier asked me do you play monopoly. I said you are the first cashier to ask me that. She smiled and told me to have a good night. Amazing, simply amazing. Wendy is top notch. Retail is tough - I was in the industry a few years ago. I looked for CS representatives like Wendy. They were hard to come by. Thank you Wendy for the greatest experience ever at a Safeway in the DC, MD and VA area. You're BRILLIANT and I hope your supervisors see this!

This store has a very low rating BEFORE COVID! The customer service is NON existent except from a couple of people (I wish I knew their names)...went to the deli last night to be greeted by a gentleman who was MISERABLE..he was wrapping salads for the next day (about 15 trays) and after getting his attention he says let me finish wrapping these and then I'll help you. WHAT?????? I kindly waited and he then says what did you want? Huh??? You mean "thanks for waiting while I deal with this inanimate object and ignore you the paying customer!! Over this store ...

This store needs to hire someone to keep up with the inventory and monitor whether workers are doing their job. Dairy is always " getting more tomorrow". This store is the only store I encounter dairy products that expire in 2 or 3 days. The bakery's store baked section is still empty at 11am because items are always "in the oven". On one visit there were NO shopping carts. The cashier had to call a stock person to empty a cart filled with returns to give it to me. There is NEVER anyone in customer service. I don't know if these problems are because of poor management, but I was really fed up today when 4 of 5 items I wanted to purchase were out and are supposed to be in this evening or tomorrow. I guess I should spend two days waiting for items that will never come.

This was our go-to grocery store when we lived in Fort Washington. The selection was great, good quality (though every now and then you'd have soon-to-expire items stocked, but you should be checking that every time anyway), and the staff was always helpful. I have read reviews about the long lines but I came here 1-2 times per week for over a year and almost never had to wait more than 5 minutes in line or self-checkout.

Very bad customer service, even you called the manager, he didn't care and would not help you. They are all African American people here. They all laughed at me when I complained to the manager, also African American. They only want to collect your money but refused to provide quality services nor quality products. It's why not many people come to shop here. Stay away.

I frequent this Safeway on a regular basis as it is on my way home from work. I zipped in for a few items, which included the dairy section. Now I understand that I may have been there before any restocking could occur (I noticed several skimpy areas in the store) but I noticed that the dairy section had several brands of butter that were expired that day, week, and waaaayyyyy expired (like a month ago)! I went through three brands of unsalted butter before I found one that had a sufficient shelf life. The lady next to me at the yogurt section was complaining about all of the expired yogurts. On my way out of the store, I spoke with a manager and notified him of the things needing attention in the dairy section. Do you know when I stopped in two days later the dairy section appeared to be restocked and neat....with the same expired butters still up front and ready for the unaware to purchase! It is not just isolated to the dairy section, but that is what I focused on today, but I think it is a shame to have to go to another Safeway way out that caters to "a more diverse clientele" to get quality items when that same quality should be available to me near my home in a "less diverse" area!

Terrible!!! Always understaffed and low grade of food. The Fort Washington area is not well represented when it comes to grocery options. Not to pick on Safeway ( which is terrible ), upper management for these chains have no idea how much money they are losing. It's sad but I drive past this store to go to Alexandria to shop at Whole Foods. I wish our county could attract a better quality of stores so Safeway and Giant could up there game when it comes to quality and service. Look at wegmans in Woodmore they stay busy. So if you come to our area we will buy. But Safeway and Giant will continue their poor service in our area because we continue to stand in the two lines that are open for 20 minutes at a time for beef that will be expired by the time you get h
