BBT will not return money stolen by a vendor that did not render services due to COVID 19. The investigator apparently gets paid to do nothing. The investigator could not verify the business is closed and not rendering services. Which is extremely easy. Please utilize another bank or credit union.

i had a check from my renter for 750.00 that had a stop payment put on it.no big deal, right?not at BBT.they debitted my account twice, admitted they debitted it twice and did nothing.well, i shoulnt say nothing.they posted overdraft fees on my account after i had contacted them and admitted that they saw their error!!!these goobers are unprofessional, ill trained to deal with humans and not able to be customer focused.i was told on my first call that it would be handled at night when they did their batch processing.didnt happen!! on the second go around, different supervisor,i was told nothing could be done.in an attempt to transfer my problem, she offered a phone number for me to call.i said i called you at the help desk for help!!no thanks on the dump off number.the moron from the first night tried to explain the returned check after keeping me on permahold.i advised that as a retired businessman and a college grad that i did not need Gomer to explain the process, but that i called for help.I tried this bank while keeping my account at Suntrust and will be transferring my funds to these good people when i find someone in this organization to give me my money back, someone who knows what they are doing.my advise is to run away from these goofs And my advise to you from an old man is Suntrust is one great bank.Im sorry i strayed and didnt know how good i had it.DB Williams

I went there last Friday. 6 ppl ahead of me one teller and yet the bank Manager and sarcastic Carmen were sitting at there desk as if nothing was going on. So I asked if it was normal Carmen's response was "What excuse me". The Manager Mr.Greene was cool. He deposited my money. But I'm just over BB&T & this Here was my final straw. I will be closing my account with them next week. That's when all my Auto pays will be completed

"Tony Hong" took the cash from me and put that in his own pocket for a notary. He did not like to take a check nor a card for a receipt. Normally, a few of banks in D.C. do not charge any fee for a notary. Just keep that in mind and find a lady at the front desk if you need a notary service at this place.

Don't use this bank unless you want them stealing your money in overdraft fees. I'm in a financial hole as a result of their overdraft fees. They charge me more than I get paid, so I'll never catch up. This all started when I deposited a large amount and they decided to hold it for 10 days without letting me know. I made the deposit to pay off some items that needed to be paid immediately. I had no idea they could hold my deposit hostage for 10 days. I ended up with over $400 in overdraft fees. They have charged me overdraft fees for pending items that were mistakes and never actually deducted from my account, but refused to refund the overdraft fees. They charge me $36 for $2 ATM fee transactions. They hold transactions for days anticipating that you might overdraft so they can get the most bang for their buck . I hate this bank with a passion. they are thieves benefiting from the misfortunes of others. I should add that I signed up for overdraft protection, meaning nothing should be paid and I shouldn't be charged a fee if thee is not enough in my bank account, but somehow my overdraft status keeps getting changed and they refuse to refund my fees. Congrats BB&T on stealing thousands from this poor person who can barely afford to keep a roof over her head.

I recently recommended a friend to BB&T, and when they created his account they told us the incorrect amount of time for his funds availability. We went back in to file a complaint and after speaking with Kevin Boyette, we thought our problems were solved. Little did we know that he was upset that we complained about their lack of customer service and issues, so about a week later he canceled both my bank account and my friends. I was just about to transfer tens of thousands of dollars from Suntrust and Bank of America too, glad I didn't start relying on BB&T full time or I would have been without my money for a couple weeks while the closed account check came to the house. Kevin Boyette is a snake who lies straight to your face. How anybody can trust this branch is beyond me, they certainly have lost my entire family's support as well as anybody else who will listen to me. I will be filing complaints with the BBB and BB&T national. How dare anyone deletes my account when I never broke any company policies! Kevin Boyette should be fired immediately!

Got a difficult refi through them that saves me hundreds of $ each month. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the usual crappy Junk fees that they charge, around $2,000. total closing costs on a $68k loan. Lisa Stottlemeyer at the Sarasota branch is terrific. I will continue doing buisness with this bank

I think this is an ok bank and it would totally deserve 3 stars but alas I must deduct the could be stars. I signed up for an account online. It was so simple.....well beside one minor snafu but the phone reps were professional and gave me a hassle free experience. I had signed up for overdraft proctection and I called to confirm that I in fact had overdraft protection, which I was told that I did. Then a month later I went to check my account and I was charged $400.00 in overdraft fees. And it kept accumulating because the overdraft fees would not stop. Three months later I still havn't been able to cover the fees and am stuck with a crappy bank account. BBT got their payday, I think they're liars and cheaters but like I said I am stuck until I can pay off this debt! Is there any bank out there that can be trusted??

First off, the above review is VERY unfair and not very helpful..... How can a mechanical issue with an ATM be a determining factor in rating them with 1 star. Admittedly, the cutting up of the card is a huge issue but it seems like something has been left out. I have lost cards in ATM's before because I forgot to retrieve them and they were pulled into the machine for security reasons (a great feature btw) but I was always able to pick up my card when they were next open. That aside, I would highly recommend using this particular BB&T branch. I've been banking with BB&T for a little over a year now and I would say I am neither amazed by it nor do I see many differences in it from other banks. One of the few nice features are the extended hours that many other banks don't offer but that's about it. The redeeming factor at this particular location is JoAnne, she is a teller there and is AMAZING. She and the rest of the teller staff at this branch are great, going in to the bank is a fun part of the week for me as I get to chat with her and her coworkers. They know me by name (this happened very quickly) and have gone above and beyond to help with all of my banking needs. Once they even took me to a nearby notary and attempted to pay out of pocket to get some documents notarized for me. If this branch loses JoAnne and the other tellers currently working there I doubt I would continue to use it.

After a quite lovely time at Jeff and Ray's roofdeck, Craig, Keely and I decided to stop at an ATM to get some cash for a cab ride. This BB&T is right on H street near the Chinatown gate-- a highly convenient location for an ATM. I slide my precious, well worn, been-around-the-world-with-me check card into the slot. As I'm clicking along the screen, providing my PIN, accepting the $2 service fee (ugh), all of the sudden the screen goes blank. Then bright green. Then it flashes. Then it's red. Uh oh. Red is bad. The ATM begins to whir and for a brief moment I pray that money will spit out and my precious card will be returned to me. Nothing happens. There is no phone number posted near the ATM except the rather intimidating security number, so I was forced to call them. The person on the phone was very friendly and gave me the appropriate number to call. I eventually found myself on the phone with a woman with a lovely southern accent. It was going to be okay. At least that's what I thought. Turns out people with southern accents can still be a bit evil and snide and say things like "ma'am, if you can't get the card out, no one else will." She assured me that I would get my card back when the bank reopened. I resigned to the fact that I would have to go cash and card-less until Monday. I managed to survive the weekend, but only with the unknowing help of my Dad (via his "emergency" credit card) and the generosity of Craig and Keely (they went to a lovely Suntrust ATM with a swipe card reader-- no card loss for them!). I called BB&T first thing this morning and the woman on the phone assured me that she, personally, had cut up my card. After the initial shock wore off and I had finished ranting at the woman ("you cut up my precious?!! can i come pick up the pieces? that card bought me so many wonderful things! it's been with me through it all: in good times and bad! it's never been declined! ummm I seriously needed to return some stuff with that card. please oh please, bring it back to life! why did you have to cut it up? isn't it kept safe in a BANK, of all places?"), I vowed to never become a BB&T account holder and to never, ever let my ATM card out of my sight again. Even if it does have to go into the depths of some "secure" machine.
