Let me start off by saying that this is not to deter you from adopting here, but to be extremely cautious and alert during the adoption process. The workers and volunteers we interacted with were all super nice and helpful, but the problem aligned with the management and owner of the shelter. We put in an application for a dog, and were told that we would get a response 72 hours max. This did not happen. We had to go to the shelter to ask the workers why we weren’t getting a response to actually get a response from the manager. This process took over a span of two weeks, due to extremely poor communication and untimely responses. When our application finally got accepted, we gave a date where it would be best for us to pick up the dog. MELISSA the manager said that it was too long and they don’t hold dogs. So we gave an earlier date, and Melissa made it seem like everything was very carefree, and we could stop by at that time. This date we gave was only 3 days after she approved our application. THREE DAYS. IN ACTUALITY, she failed to inform us that she put the dog up for adoption again, because “everything happened so fast and they can’t hold dogs”. She also forgot to inform us that the dog was adopted by another person, once again because “everything happened so fast”. This is literally her job, she can’t take a minute out of her day to inform us? Either you’re extremely forgetful or you’re just bad at your job. If she had told us that if we did not pick up the dog up as soon as possible that it would be put up for adoption, we would of course pick him up as soon as possible, we just wanted to create the best home environment for our dog. We then asked if the dog was still at the shelter, HE WAS. They were HOLDING THE DOG for the other person until Wednesday, days after their application was accepted. So you’re saying that the manager is willing to hold the dog for another individual, but not for us? Melissa has never wanted us to adopt the dog from day one, and her actions prove it. If you do end up wanting to adopt a dog, make sure to constantly keep that manager up on her toes and to always know the status of your application (even if you’ve already been accepted), because you never know what will happen. This type of behavior is just not acceptable and extremely unprofessional on your behalf, do better.

My young adult daughter recently adopted a cat from this rescue. She was told the cat was 2.5 - 3 years old (although the paperwork we were given listed her as one year old) and was in good health (confirmed by the volunteers multiple times). After adopting the cat and bringing her to the vet later that week, my daughter found out that not only is the cat not 3, she is a senior cat (10/11 years old) and has health issues. In the past two weeks, my daughter has expended over $1500 in vet bills trying to diagnose and treat a number of issues (upper respiratory infection, anemia, asthma). Some would have returned the cat to the rescue, but my daughter had become attached to her sweet cat. Sadly, just a little over two weeks after adopting little Beanie, upon discovering more health issues and on the advice of our vet, Beanie had to be put down. My daughter is devastated.Yes, by adopting a cat my daughter agreed care for the cat, and we realize that unanticipated health issues arise. However, most people adopting a senior cat (which is a wonderful thing to do) will anticipate and accept there will be issues — my daughter thought she was adopting a 3 year old cat with less chance of high vet bills and higher odds of living a long life, which was an important consideration given she is a full-time post-grad student. This was supposed to be an emotional support animal for my daughter, but this experience instead has caused her emotional duress.Unfortunately, we found out our experience is not a one off. We met a former volunteer at this rescue who told us that misrepresenting the age of the animals is not uncommon. They’re probably hoping that adopters become attached and just keep the animal even after finding out the true age. Well, I guess they succeeded with my daughter. We are glad others have had positive experiences with this rescue since there are so many animals in need of homes. But, after sitting next to my daughter as little Beanie passed over the rainbow bridge, needless to say, I’m angry about how she was misled. If you want to adopt a cat in the same area, go to Sunshine’s Friends, where we adopted our two family cats a few years ago. They are honest, take wonderful care of the kitties, and go to great pains to match cats to the right adopters.

Adopted our dog a few years ago from and the staff/volunteer staff was great and so sweet to the dog. I've also volunteered with them before and can tell that everyone really cares for the animals. Would highly recommend considering adoption from them.

My wife has been looking for another (pet) family member for our home since we lost our Jesse girl 2 years ago. The folks that run the shelter are so dedicated to the animals, we totally love them. Very helpful, our shelter baby is so awesome, we fell for her at first sight. She stole our hearts and we are so happy.

We adopted our sweet boy Mickey 11 years ago. He’s been the best little guy, all 9lbs of him. I’ll always be grateful for Small Miracles! He’s a bit gray in the face now but he’s the sweetest dog!

One of the worst over the phone customer services! On the website it offers tons of information about what the services are, I tried calling just to give more information about what was said and the lady on the phone was cold, dry, and bothered like she didn’t want to work!

Love, love, love this place. On December 30th, my husband and I adopted two amazing kitten brothers from Small Miracles. We had been pet-less since July 2023, and wanted two kittens so they would have each other for company. These two brothers were bonded and needed to be together. We were lucky that they chose us and now the four of us are already bonded. We couldn't be happier. Small Miracles is filled with kind and loving staff/volunteers who are doing a wonderful job of caring for the many cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens that need help. Our two kittens were very well taken care of when we adopted them. They had just been in a foster home, and were already neutered, checked for worms, vaccinated, and examined by a veterinarian - which is an enormous help when you are adopting. The application process was simple and remember that the purpose of an application is to make sure they are going into a loving home. I think the fee of $300 for both was very good since they were already neutered and vet-checked. Highly recommend this wonderful place!

We adopted our sweet Phoebe (formerly Magic) a little over a week ago. I stopped in on a whim “just to look” and found the perfect addition to our family. Everyone at the shelter was so kind and explained everything about her in depth to me, right down to her missing tail! We love her so much already and so does at least one of our resident cats. We’re still working on the other but churus work wonders! We’re so thankful to Small Miracles and Phoebe’s foster, Dena, for taking such good care of her until we brought her home.

We just adopted our little guy from Small Miracles. It was the best experience. I've also adopted from the spca. Small Miracles just seemed more personal in my opinion. It was a very quick process and my family couldn't be happier with our new pup!

I adopted two beautiful kittens from here. They are very loving and playful. Their foster mom took great care of them. They are very socialized and litter trained. When I brought the kittens home, one of them wasn’t eating or playing so Nancy took in my cats for a couple days and nursed her back to health. Since I have brought them both home, they have been eating and playing all the time. All of the workers and the foster parents I have met are very friendly and love animals. I would highly recommend adopting your new family member(s) from here.

I recently adopted my amazing pup from this amazing facility. It was a fast turnaround time once my application was approved. I love that a lot of the puppies get a fair start in foster homes. It makes for a little less training once in their forever homes. If I could change one thing, it would be the outdoor area made for meet and greets. It's very rocky and my pup was actually putting the rocks in his mouth. A nice artificial turf area would be awesome!!
