Dear High’s Leadership,
I wanted to take a moment to recognize the kind and thoughtful team at your Ellicott City location. Barb, Bishop, and Angel are among the kindest, most service-oriented individuals I have come across in a long time.
My 80 year old dad is a regular customer at High’s — he stops in every single morning and always gets the same things. A few times, the Washington Post was sold out before he arrived. When Barb heard that, she began setting one aside for him each morning to make sure he never missed his paper. Angel, when she sees him coming, often has his “regular” items ready in a bag at the register — unless she’s busy helping another customer. And Bishop always keeps things running smoothly and ensures that same level of care continues when he’s at the counter.
This level of attentiveness, consistency, and genuine kindness is rare these days. It means so much to me and my family to see how well they treat my dad — not just as a customer, but as a person.
I hope High’s leadership recognizes this exceptional team and ensures they are taken care of, because their dedication truly embodies what great service is all about.
Big thank you to Barb, Angel, and Bishop for your kindness toward my dad — I so appreciate you all.
Warm regards,
$13.01 (inside joke 😊)

I’ve been coming here for a while now but the customer service is lousy, rude even not to mention the high employee turnover rate. There is no need to physically bend or rub an ID to know it is real. Scan it, don’t bend peoples IDs and try to recognize your regular customers so you can skip the intrusive nonsense.
I’m avoiding this place until they have a new batch of employees in a month or two. Will update then.

Gas it up while you get snacks. Convenience store and gasoline ⛽️. Convenient to Rt. 40 / Baltimore National Pike.

Average and inconvenient. What else could you expect from a convenience store/gas station.

The guy in the night shift today, always has some or the other problems and it’s so very inconvenient. Either he is closing or counting the register , either the Apple Pay isn’t working . And it’s not one night I have encountered this frequently. Why can’t you make things smooth for customer !! Whenever this dude is in shift there is always some issue or the other !!

This is our neighborhood High's and I've given them the benefit of the doubt on many occasions. I've seen near empty icecream buckets not refreshed. Purchased and returned freezer burnt icecream and more.
Tonight was the exception. I've come in right after a robbery and received better customer service. As soon as I walk in and go to the register to order from behind the counter, I was told by Tony, the Manager that there is a shift change and as soon as the cashier counts his drawer twice and the incoming cashier recount, I would be served. It should take about 2mins.
Well, 17mins later and a growing line, the drawer comes up short. Toni comes back out as they are recounting, at this point we all counted the drawer from the other side of the counter. I asked Tony if there was an easier way to do shift change and keep a continuous customer flow and he says, no. This is how corporate wants it done.
I then said as management, he should be able to open the other register and get the customers taken care of and he says he isn't on duty. WTH?
Poor management and poor customer service. I will no longer spend my money where it isn't appreciated nor prioritized. It would make more sense to lock the doors with a sign stating it's a shift change and they'll reopen in 15-20mins.
As a customer service expert and a leadership trainer this was totally unacceptable. I'll drive up the street to the gas station from now on. Do better High's.

I came in 1am on Tuesday, they were out of gas. I was so upset but made it better was the two cashiers overnight. Excellent customer service, they let me vent and they listened to me patiently and advised me that they were very sorry of the inconvenience , they explained that they were waiting for the truck to delivery gas . What made very awesome is that they both contributed in buying coffee with there own money . One of the cashiers name was Rekik , she is from the same country that parents were born . The other cashier's name was D . Because of this experience I will definitely come back . If the owners are looking at this review please appreciate this two beautiful cashiers with excellent customer service. I will be coming back .

Have been coming to this High's for gas for quite some time and think I finally have had it with this poorly run, and poorly managed store. 90 percent of the time when you pay at the pump, and then the pump asks "Would you like a receipt" and you hit "Yes" it then says "Good, go inside and get it because we don't care to put paper in the printers and really could care less that you're now going to come inside and complain about it". Stopped by on Sunday this week, same story as always. Go in and ask if they could please do a better job with the paper, and the clerk says "Yeah, we've been having issues with printing".. Ya think? No paper in the printer will do it every time.. If you need/want a receipt, go somewhere else or you'll be going inside to wait in another line to speak to a clerk that couldn't care less!

I am a regular here and have been coming here for years. Everyone has been very hospitable here in the past. But today, I received the worst treatment today. There was a black lady who refused to make two shakes for my sons today stating that she was too busy while there wasn’t a single customer and a cashier. I told the cashier that I wanted to make a complaint. He said to write it down on a piece of paper with my name and phone number, so I did. As I was getting in my car, the same black lady followed me to my car yelling if I wrote a complaint. I told her that I did write a complaint. Then she stated that she was the manager so good luck. I told her that I will make my complaint to the corporate office if she’s not going to take it seriously, and told me to go ahead and that the corporate office is down the road. This type of aggressive behavior from a manager shows poor leadership at High’s. They have certainly lost my business for life.

What a mess. This place hasn't been this same for a while. The pizza I bought was burnt, the floor was nasty and sticky, the drinking fountain was horrible with a mess all around it. I have never seen this store in this condition. Cashiers were no where to be found, items weren't stocked. Won't be going here anymore. The quality has declined. I usually grab chicken every Friday and a pizza for students but it was cooked poorly. Dissatisfied.

We would like to put in a very good review and give recognition to store associate Ms.Karen Epps. She is great! She greets us, always friendly, go the extra mile to make sure we're satisfied when we arrive, and before leave the store. She cares about her customers. When entering into the store it's always nice, neat, and clean. The restrooms are tidy. She makes Highs a great place to just go to and socialize or just grabbing something on the go. She is amazing and her excellent customer service doesn't go unnoticed.I grab coffee and other things for the office and share with them how amazing she is with such a great sense of humor. So thank you Ms.Epps for all that you do and thank Highs for the quality of products and service you'll provide.
