I have sugar gliders & I was advised by a local vet to get them neutered. So per the veterinarians request, I got my gliders neutered at Feathers, Tails & Scales. I know vets are busy, but this vet had completely botched the surgery & blamed the animal for him not healing. This vet clinics practices were unethical & almost cost the life of my glider. They had no vets in & only vet techs, but of course weren’t honest about that. My gliders almost passed away because of Feathers, Tails, & scales neglect. Thank goodness I found Ellicot city vet, they acted fast. Only clinic that was willing to check my gliders in a timely fashion. Thank god Ellicott city saw my gliders. Not only were they so informative, they saved my gliders. Two days after the visit, they called to make sure they were okay. Considering the other vet didn’t even open their carrier for a check up, gosh it means so much. My gliders are my family & I thank my lucky stars I found a clinc that cares as much as I do. Thank you so much… the receptionist are golden & the doctors are a dream. My ma was a vet tech for 20 years. I feel like I finally found people that care about animals the same exact way my ma does. I can’t even express how thankful I am!!!?

I started calling urgent care vets and pet ERs early on a Sunday afternoon, concerned our cat was acting lackadaisical. He has a history of crystals in his urine. Everyone said long wait, nothing else. This ER said bring him in and we'll at least make sure he isn't blocked. And they cheerfully did exactly that (he wasn't blocked). What a brilliant suggestion and what a way to protect my cat and put my mind at ease.

Were able to take my dog in right away. The staff is knowledgeable, caring, listened to my concerns and really took care of my dog and me in a really desperate time. So happy I called this location and was seen here.

This company is not designed or equipped for emergency care. They inaccurately say they can provide these services and when they fail (which they typically do… read the reviews/ they tend to delete most reviews since they are honest which describes how bad this company is at animal care. They respond with blame, incompetence, and gaslighting responses. They will probably respond aggressively and defensively to this post ( or not at a, or will delete) which is part of my point. (This post is being screen shot and monitored to demonstrate such behavior. This company isn’t here for animal care. They are here for money and they don't care how it is achieved. ). I will repost once the owner reacts to this and continue to demonstrate why this business does not deserve to be in business.

We've used them for both emergency and regular reptile care (they have a practice). Always good service and very reasonable prices.

My bird, Raisin, came in yesterday in dire straights. He was critical. We filled out the paperwork before hand and called to let them know we were on our way. When we got there, we were escorted into a room and required to fill out more forms. The receptionist, who was very kind, kept coming in to let us know someone would be with us as soon as possible. We waited for 30 minutes and Raisin wound up passing in my hands. It wasn't until I became audibly upset that a tech came in and took Raisin to the back. Then, the Avian doctor came in to confirm what we already knew. I'm disappointed and absolutely heart broken that this was the outcome of our visit. My frustration lies in the fact that this was clearly an Emergent situation and I'm baffled at the fact that there was no sense of urgency upon us arriving at this facility. I realize ER's are busy, but I could hear someone getting pricing information for a dog that was limping. My bird was DYING and for some reason, pricing information was more important than his life. Avian doctors are so hard to come by in this area, emergency avian doctors are even harder. Because of this, my poor baby suffered and the guilt for that is a hard pill to swallow. I appreciate everything our vets do but I can't help feeling like he was failed yesterday.**Edit for response to the owner**I hope you do follow up with me. First off, Raisin was a male. Secondly, Raisin presented with symptoms less than 24 hours. Not days. When we came into your facility, Raisin was wrapped in a blanket, and was physically unable to perch on my hand. I don't know who you are referencing, but again, I was seen by your front desk receptionist. It wasn't until Raisin passed that I was actually seen by a tech and the doctor so I don't know where your information is coming from. As you well know, birds can decline rather rapidly, as you also stated in your response. That is really why I was taken back because I was expecting Raisin to be seen immediately given the fact that this was an emergency clinic and this was well presented as an emergency. As for the necropsy, I did decline it. His little body already had been through so much and its not going to bring him back. I have a hard enough time trying to find people to treat my birds, I found it ironic that we were able to have a necropsy done more easily than actually seeing him when he was alive. As for the past, you did see Raisin, for a lack of circulation in the toe. At that time, your staff were attentive and saw Raisin quickly. I would argue that this visit was a little more dire than the last and yet, he was treated successfully on his first go around for something that was not as urgent.I find your response to my review disheartening as I am not trying to place blame on Raisin's death, rather than point out why the visit was more than disappointing. I was hoping my review would be taken into consideration for future clients.

We have birds, and are beyond THRILLED there is a vet doing avian and exotic pet care relatively close by. They have been super great with our birdies, really kind and compassionate.

Brought my sulfer crested cockatoo in as am emergency as she was wheezing. 7 hours later she was finally released. The place was less than remotely sanitary. She was dead next morning. I called next morning and left a message. NO callback, no follow up, just a 1400 bill and a bunch of supplements. It was no comparison to Fallston.

I had an excellent experience at this emergency vet. A chicken in our small flock was injured vs potentially egg bound and we were able to come in, be seen and were able to come up with a reasonable treatment plan in a relatively short manner. The staff at the desk, the vet tech, and vet doctor were all very friendly, polite and professional. The emergency visit fee was reasonable, including the visit and a more in-depth exam than I would have expected. There are closer emergency vets to where I live and I kind of ended up here on accident and a touch of laziness to continue searching for a place that saw hens, but I’m planning on using them for future visits if the need should arise again.

We love this vet! During a very stressful & traumatic time they took incredible care of our puppy. They were incredibly communicative during the entire time he was there and throughout the surgery which minimized our stress immensely! I would recommend this vet to anyone in an emergency situation!

I take my rabbits here as their regular/wellness vet and we have had nothing but good experiences! Being that it is an emergency vet, sometimes we’re there a little longer for appointments, but they have 2 knowledgable exotics vets that make it worthwhile. The staff is also all wonderful, even while sitting in a room I could hear them in the back talking kindly to the animals, and showing genuine concern for the new pets coming in.All emergency vets have a long wait, so I don’t think anyone should be surprised when they come here and that’s the case, but it sounds like they have an online waitlist which many emergency vets don’t have. I’m glad we found this practice with excellent vets in our neighborhood!

I should’ve written this long ago, but finally am now since I realize it’s been almost a year to the day since EAHEC was recommended to us by our vet when one of our pack abruptly went into kidney failure. We’d never experienced anything like that and didn’t know what to do.The EAHEC team - especially Matt - calmly guided us from the very first call we made when we noticed our guy was in shock. Matt patiently talked us through what to do immediately, what to expect when we arrived and how to plan for immediate next steps. When we arrived, Matt was incredibly kind and the way we saw him care for our dog is the only reason we got even a little bit of sleep that night.Matt and Dr. Hughes provided stellar overnight and emergency care. They were so gracious every time we called to request updates on his condition and progress. Once we secured non-emergency care the next day, they were awesome and provided all necessary the secondary hospital needed. That first night and the following day were rough. We didn’t think our guy would make it. We were actually told by everyone else that he wouldn’t make it. But he’s completely bounced back. We didn’t know what to expect but we’re convinced that Matt, Dr. Hughes and the EAHEC team were integral to his full recovery.

Scans & exam showed pretty much no issues - still waiting to see if my girl will start feeling better. BUT, thank you so much to the staff for being so helpful. Very professional, answered all my questions and were super calm and patient with how worried I was - especially the vet. They gave realistic wait time estimates (Pet ER places in Baltimore are not easy to get into) but once they saw her they had her in and out quick! Thank you so much.

Keep your sick animals away from this place! Amateur hour. We took our sick rabbit there. She was breathing heavily, here eye was swollen, and she was weakened. The vet was unsure, hesitant, and vague with coming up with any kind of prognosis. She was inept and clueless. The vet talked nonstop about the rabbit’s eye, but very little about the heavy breathing and drooling. She kept saying “my hypothesis, my hypothesis, my hypothesis” ad nauseum. I’ve NEVER heard this babble from any kind of medical professional. She wanted to run a slew for tests for $1,000. Now, this was 9:00 at night and the place closed at 1:00 a.m. How much could they figure out and do in a few hours for a very sick animal? Because they close at 1:00 a.m. the sick rabbit could not be kept overnight for medicine, oxygen, and observation. They talked about and emergency transfer to another hospital than night. Without knowing the root cause, the vet kept throwing out survival probabilities: 50%, 40%, 30%. Sorry to say the rabbit’s breathing deteriorated quickly and we had to have it euthanized that night.
