Discoveries is a quintessential main street artisanal delight! By far the best art/craft store in Old Ellicott City. Pottery is the main attraction, can't possibly go wrong here! Plenty of great plates, serving bowls, coffee mugs, and if you hurry, there are still some #OEC pieces left! There are also some pieces by a couple decorated artists. But wait - that's not all! Discoveries will not disappoint if you seek outstanding works of blown glass, handmade jewelry, crystals, garden decor, or other trinkets which convey both art as well as appreciation for the natural world. And showing off Maryland pride, there are are plenty of motifs of crabs, dragonflies, turtles, and jellyfish! Sally, the owner, has done a marvelous job of purchasing over the years and has been a delight every time i come with my Mom to redeem her Christmas gift card. Make this a definite stop on your next visit to Old Ellicott City!

Great gift shop for unique items with a touch of whimsy, sparkle and/or elegance. We have purchased one-of-a-kind colorful ceramic bowls that elevate any experience with the food they serve with their glorious colors. The shop has been around for decades along with the owner including bearing the brunt of two floods. We purchased one bowl after the first flood recovery-it was found down river, a testament to durability, persistence and resurrection. They have moved steadily uphill since the first location (with colorful dresses hung outside as an aura-of-the-day) suffered so much with the flood. Not so many clothes these days, but fabulous jewelry.

Amazing store with lovely merchandise. I came in today to look at the gem pendants and the owner was very nice and helpful. I bought a beautiful amethyst pendant that was reasonably priced. Definitely one of the nicest shops in Elliott City!

I did not feel welcome at all. I’m a person of color and wasn’t even greeted once. Meanwhile, everyone else that came in after me were greeted with friendly energy. All the other shops were very friendly and had a nice atmosphere. This one did not. It’s very clear the owner cared more about their white customers. Please avoid this place if you are a minority. There are better places to take your business in Old EC!
