Driver applicant here.
Came into the open house and spoke to the terminal manager, he was polite and professional.
My biggest issue is it was very obvious he was not a fan of my lack of references and having more than two jobs in the past year.
With trucking turnover rates at 80%+ and a federal requirement to provide accurate employment histories, I was surprised at this, we have no choice but to be honest and upfront. I’ve been through 15 dispatchers at my Werner job in 3 months, why would I reference them? Hope that seems reasonable. Terminal managers handle 5,000+ drivers and require appointments to see them, they’re not possible to reference.
Wouldn’t tell me why he/my recruiter denied me but I’m nearly certain it was due to that.
I’m 25 and supporting my nephew and elderly grandmother with 3+ years of driving experience with absolutely no points on my license looking for an LTL job to commit my time to.
While I understand the market is competitive, I don’t understand the issues with non-references and job hopping, especially for mega carriers as past employers where salary’s are often less than $40,000 working 70 hours a week, who would stay at those jobs long term? It’s less than $7 hourly, often with very bad benefits.
I’m hoping with time things can be reconsidered, because again I have zero points, 3+ years of driving and do my best to conduct myself professionally and finally find a trucking company that I can build a future with.
If management is reading this, I appreciate your time and hope you consider my viewpoint on this.
In the event I wasn’t selected due to my above reasons, I’d have appreciated being given a reason so I can professionally strive to improve myself in that aspect.

The worst fright company in America. They will lie to u and they held my package for over 2 weeks. Never ever use this company. Customer service is bad and they don't care about you at all.

I have had the displeasure of trying to use this company to move freight a few different times. This last time, I didn't make the decision, but they have my freight regardless. Instance #1 - picked up 2 pallets in NJ to go to MD. 3 days after they missed the delivery, they "find" the pallets. 1 is in PA, the other in VA. THEN they wanted additional money for "re-delivery." Instance #2 - Picked up in Cleveland to go to Detroit. 1 pallet, 400 lbs. today is the 4th day since they picked up, they aborted the delivery yesterday after waiting 5 minutes to get directed to a door, and today the driver marked the BOL "Address - valid but wrong." The address is correct. 14 other deliveries there THIS WEEK. Central is so pathetic I wish I could take stars from other people.

My rate is not for the company but for a particular driver. On 8/31/23 at 2:40 AM at the TA, I tried to use a Cat scale, but the truck that was ahead stopped, and driver went to truck stop. I asked him to move his vehicle, but he just laughed and said that there was still enough space. It was rude and unacceptable for professional drivers to act like ###.

I ordered a large garden statue for my son & sister’s memorial garden. I received a call & email with delivery date & timeframe for delivery with info to call if I needed to reschedule. Driver called when on his way, was very friendly & the statue was securely packaged. There were no issues & the statue looks beautiful in my garden. A+++

Been here for a long time, has its ups and downs just like everywhere else. People here at the location are fine, but I know you can't make everyone happy all the time....frustrations occur when something doesn't go the way the customer wants or expects.

When shipping LTL we understand that delays happen, but my god if you have damaged product expect no help from their customer service team. We have 4 pallets moving, 2 were delivered tipped over. Days later found out that 2 are still sitting in the origin terminal and were forgotten. Finally they get the 2 remaining pallets moving and then find out that the product was damaged. They are unable to give any detail on what is damaged and will not send over any pictures or let you talk to the terminal manager where the freight is located to see what the damage is. BUT they expect you to give disposition without knowing no details and best of all they called the receiver who has nothing to do with you damaging the product and gave them a hard time about seed being spilled over. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for.

Customer service supervisor, Ashley, gave nothing but excuses and sounded like a scripted robot. Central Transport had my shipment delayed for 5 days (originally told a 1 day ship time) and then when I called to ask why they said 1. they dont guarantee deliveries (??? what???) and then tried to blame it on short staff. If you are short staffed then you should extend your estimated shipment times.
