Peter was the teller who assisted me with my problem. He was prompt, efficient, and perfect! I'll definitely go back if I have any problems.

No bank to bank transfer services, technically subpar, don't offer services other local banks offer.

Terrible! I’ve been banking with M&T Bank for nearly 15 years. I needed a replacement bank card. I usually have had pleasant experiences with this branch over the years but this time was vastly different. The older Caucasian woman teller was extremely rude, condescending, and repeatedly asked me accusatory questions that had no relation to the service I was in need of. The racial profiling and explicit bias is not beneficial in retaining long term customers, especially not this one.

Not just this branch but M&T overall. No customer service. Accounts frozen in error. Missing Social Security payments that were confirmed by the Security Administration to have been sent to the bank. No notice before deactivating our ATM card. This list goes on and on.

Sorry... But I was reading some of the reviews and what are people on these days. I've been to this branch numerous of times and the staff have ALWAYS made my visit welcoming and we're very knowledgeable and made sure that they satisfied my needs. As for recommending this branch. I do all the time.Good job M&T. The branch looks good with that little make over/remodel

If I could give NEGATIVE stars, I would. TERRIBLE BANK. Despite multiple warnings of fraud on my father's account - they didn't do anything about it. They allowed elderly abuse to happen over and over again.

The employees who work at the M&T Bank in Dunkirk, Maryland could care less about you. I have banked here for over 30 years and since they hired the manager Donna the whole energy in the place has changed. They don't say hello when you walk in, the don't thank you for your business, no one ever asks if you need assistance. I went to throw a piece of paper in a trash can and Donna wanted to know what I was doing. There aren't even trash cans in a common area. Guess I should of thrown it on the floor. My husband and I opened a savings account and Donna just assumed it was my husband's money. Gotta be careful nowadays women do work and have money. It is like you are bothering them but even walking in the door. So sad to see a place go downhill so badly.

Staff is customer oriented and greet you by name. I've always found them to be extremely helpful.

I always have an issue with this Branch.. The only thing they have going for them is that they are friendly. But if you want your money, you're not going to get it. I have ALWAYS deposited M&T issued checks and other locations have put the money in immediately or told me it would go in at midnight. This particular branch told me that if I used the ATM my money would be available to me midnight of last night, but since I let the teller deposit it it won't go in until midnight of the next business day... Why is it only the Dunkirk, MD branch where my checks are deposited differently? I will not be returning to this location ever again. All they do is ruin my day and frustrate me..

This review is more about the banks policy rather then the employees at this location. Apparently after several years of being with Provident the new owners M&T banks clown car division has made me decide to take my banking elsewhere. In short, I had an issue with Spirit Airlines to which I canceled a fraudulent baggage club program that had, and two years later MMT allows Spirit to withdraw funds from my account. Then when I prove my case, MMT then allows Spirit to revise their original information, and not give me the specifics on why now MMT will now decide in Spirits favor. This created a situation that I am now supposed to fight with one hand tied behind my back. And then after making the reversal, charged me an insufficient funds fee on the account that had the funds available but were reduced due to MMTs action. Lastly. I had a photo image and married name change to my debit card which had been there just about two years. When I had a problem with the account MMT sends me not only the original card with no image, but my married name is also missing. How is that the latest information is gone from my account and now I have to go into an office to correct MMT's error. As soon as my Capital One Card comes in the mail, MMT is history!

Disappointing experience today at the Dunkirk location. My father had his wallet stolen, which included his M&T bank debit card. We went in today to report the card stolen. Unfortunately, we were not able to do that as the lady behind the counter stated that we needed an ID to establish identity to do anything at all with the accounts. When I explained that his ID was in the stolen wallet, she still said she needed an ID to freeze any account. I could tell this was going to turn into a circular argument really quickly, and it did. In frustration, I asked "Is it M&T's position that we are just supposed to allow fraudulent transactions and the theft of money until we can provide you with a new ID?" She got a deer in the headlight look and gave me a "nothing I can do" shrug. Ultimately, she gave us a telephone number to call. When I asked what a telephone number could do that she couldn't, (since establishing identity thru the phone would be even less secure than in person in Dunkirk) again hesitation, but she said we could give a pin number to close the account. After 10 or so minutes on hold, we got a very pleasant man who was able to close the account in about 2 minutes (without a pin number...) and without all of the hoops the lady in branch was trying to get us to jump thru. Amazing how a call center rep in Delaware can do something over a phone that my local branch is unable to do in person. I could understand if we were asking to move money, make changes, etc. that M&T would require an ID (yes, identity confirmation is very important) but putting a stop --even a temporary one-- literally effects nobody except whoever is misusing a stolen card. Bottom line: When M&T is unable (or unwilling) to secure a known compromised account, you are providing poor customer service. When you tell your customer to leave the building and call a 1-800 number for help, you are providing poor customer service. When you leave the branch wondering if you should maintain any of your accounts at all with M&T (as it's clear when we needed their assistance, they sat on their hands) you are providing poor customer service. M&T bank promotes that they "understand what is important." In this case, clearly they didn't.

I will never bank here! The people working here are very rude and make banking so stressful. I have never dealt with a bank like this before. I parked outside one day 10 minutes before they were due to open waiting to go inside. When I get inside one of the employees informed me that I can't park outside and wait for them to open and that she almost called the police on me. I was in this bank on average of 1 or 2 times a week before this happened they know who I am.

Was treated poorly over the past few months, representatives were unmotivated to help on numerous occasions and made simple tasks become difficult and stressful. Please note this review only reflects my experience at this specific branch, and not M&T Bank as a whole.
