The store is ok. Fresh produce looks decent. Prices are a little higher than if I go into Waldorf or Alexandria.
The online shoppers run you over in the aisles. The cashier named Angela needs further instruction on courtesy, customer service, and packing bags.
I come here for just a few things, but never for a full shopping trip.

I keep trying to give this Giant a 2nd (3rd, 5th, 10th) chance but they keep letting me down. Rude employees from the deli to the pharmacy to the cashiers (aside from the nice manager with super long hair, she's great). Prices have risen faster than the other grocery stores in town to the point where Giant is more expensive than Harris Teeter or Safeway. Worst part is Giant's ridiculous self checkouts that have the volume cranked up to 11 and yell at you constantly about what is or isn't in the bagging area, but you're forced to use them since they rarely have more than one regular aisle open. And don't get me started on the produce. Several times recently I've discovered mold on everything from peppers to herbs to onions bought there the same day. Overall it just makes me sad because they used to really be great before Harris Teeter arrived. Instead of stepping up they've just let the place wither.

I love this Giant in Dunkirk, even though the one in Bowie is closer, because it's laid out well, has great produce, and always seems to have everything in stock.
Unfortunately, when I visited this time, their ScanIt devices were not working, and I only shop at Guant stores with them because they make shopping so convenient. While checking out the old-fashioned way, l learned that ScanIt was taken down on purpose because of theft! WTH! Thieves ruin everything.
I was told they would be brought back soon, so I am hoping for the best, but until then, I will not be visiting this store.
UPDATE: I wrote the above review after I visited and shopped at the Dunkirk store on 05/02/24 and spending $179.20. I just stopped in again on 05/23/24 - 3 weeks later - to see if their ScanIt was working yet, and I am sad to report that it is not. So I am now heading to the Giant store in Bowie to do my shopping because their ScanIt devices are definitely working.

Great clean store, friendly staff. Today when I shopped, my grandson was with me and who I call the Matriach of the Dunkirk store actually remembered him when he was pushing the tot grocery cart and now he's 14 and 6'3". It was another great shopping trip. Thanks to all of the staff for all you do. See you soon ?

The managers here all have a chip on their shoulder. They don't have any idea how to talk to people. And they shouldn't be reprimanding their employees in public.

I always shop at the Giant in Dunkirk, Md. The items in the bakery dept are always fresh & they carry a large variety of fresh baked goods.
I am a vegetarian, hence I do the majority of my shopping in the produce dept. The Dunkirk store has the best local produce. Every item is clean, fresh & the variety is second to none.
I am also handicapped, & have to use the scooter/shopping carts. Which are almost always charged & clean. I often need help at the checkout & the employees are always happy to help me! All the employees that I’ve dealt w/
have been friendly, courteous & extremely helpful. I will continue to shop at the Giant, Dunkirk store & highly recommend it to friends & family.

Been shopping at this Giant for a while (in store and online pick up). Today we do our online pick up. The strawberries we picked up had mold all over them. I called into customer service and the nice person issued a refund. However, the part I think is the most strange/frustrating is the point that they charged for bags. Calvert isn’t requiring this currently so why is Giant? The customer service rep stated that it’s only for online pick up yet it never has happened before. Look, if Giant thinks having a certain type of bag will save the planet, good for them. DON’T CHARGE YOUR CUSTOMER FOR BAGS WHEN YOU’RE A BIG COMPANY! If you want to save the planet then YOU pay for it, don’t make us the customer pay for it. I’ll shop at another store who I know doesn’t charge for bags.

Went to the store on a Sunday afternoon and every yellow onion I picked up was already starting to rot, same with the honeycrisp apples. When I went to checkout at self serve right after a lady finished an error popped up that the normal cashier couldn’t clear, so I’m assuming he called a manager over. The lady walked over didn’t say anything to me, looked at the other cashier and said to shut it off. At this point I just moved my items from that one to the other without her still not acknowledging or saying anything to me.
