Not a full timer? Stay away! Locals get cranky when you hang at their pool! Owners are more concerned about appeasing their regulars than visitors. Avoid at all costs unless you are in the in crowd! Had 7 campers in the field for a long weekend and we will never return. Oh, yeah and power cuts out all the time too....which we never complained about. Avoid these biased owners!UPDATE TO OWNERS RESPONSE. There was NO unacceptable behavior. The problem was the behavior of the kids from one of your seasonals. We had a child with us and she left the pool because they were splashing her, and we politely asked them to stop. The bad behavior was the woman responsible for these kids as she threw a frensy when we asked her children to stop splashing the child with us. We were quiet and polite when asking her to do so. The problem is how the owners handled this situation. This is all hearsay from the seasonal disgruntled lady who thought this was her pool and didn't want to share with the transients. If you are referring to alcohol at the pool, THEY HAD ALCOHOL as well and you didn't kick them out..... BIASED TOWARDS THE FULL TIMERS AS I MENTIONED! GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT apparently..... You lost 7 couples of campers that will never return the way you handled things. Additionally if you believe we were cussing this is all hearsay from the seasonal disgruntled lady as well. Lastly, you insulted our handicap friend who was sitting on the stairs, by tell us we were taking up too much of the pool. Where are 14 people supposed to go? You could have handled this much differently and you chose to side with your regulars.

BEWARE campers! This campground only will cater to their seasonals, had a terrible experience where we had 7 campers in their field for wkd and power kept cutting out which we never complained about. However don't try to use "their" pool because its for regulars only apparently. We were rudely asked to leave because we were taking up too much space, umm we have 12 people and its 90 degrees and we only took up 1 small corner of their tiny pool. They told us we should exit the pool and sit out for awhile. Also the "regulars" made up stories about us that were untrue to get us in trouble. They never even bothered to try and figure out what happened just told us to leave. We will NEVER be back as this was such a biased owned facility. They also shamed a friend of ours who was handicapped for sitting on the stairs.

Brought our trailer down to scout for work. I teach kayaking. This is a good location for my job. The only reason it’s not a five star is I couldn’t get cell reception which makes it hard to plan outings. That’s not the campground’s fault, I guess I need an antenna! We camped in the field. Paid for pump out on Sunday. Loved Capt Pat’s for dinner. Have already booked a workshop there this spring. My students appreciate the lower rates of camping versus renting a hotel or house. Boat ramp is well maintained and an easy launch for kayakers.

Captain Pat has done it again. Loved his place in Lexington Park, now at Dennis Point. The food is excellent with prices that will rock your world. Thank you Pat for bringing your service back to the St. Mary's county.

The staff is extremely rude. Came with kayaks and they told us it would be $10 a kayak which is insane being as we don’t put wear on the ramp. If a double jet ski trailer puts in they pay for the trailer but per ski so should of been able to load all kayaks on the trailer and count as 1. Offered them $40 which we felt was more than fair for 7 kayaks and is also the “special camping price for this weekend” and if you’re a camper you don’t have to pay to launch and they refused then came and watched us to make sure we were leaving. As a family who PLANNED to camp next year with at least 4 campers next year and have camped here in the past and even used to be permanent and also had plans to bring the boat I hope they realize we will not return. Instead of making $40 today (again the camping rate so should of been able to just book a fake site and leave us alone) plus lunch and hundreds in the future they have lost it all because 1 they have zero customer service the attitude was rude and 2 I don’t need to be watched to make sure I’m leaving. That’s not a relaxing environment id want to camp at. So instead we went to tall timber’s where the owner was very friendly, the kayak fee is $5 per kayak and happily went to pay our $35 and the owner said that was way to much and only charged us $20. Cheaper than we offered these fun killers. Clearly they don’t want people to come and have a good time and make any money

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommended for a laid back, no frills camping experience. We are not used to camping without sewer but it worked out fine. They have a pump truck that comes around periodically and a dump station for the last day. It was worth it to have such beautiful views along the river. There are ample fishing and crabbing opportunities with or without a boat. If you have your own kayaks, you can launch right there. The campground is huge so a golf cart is suggested. There are also many areas to ride bikes. Roads in the area are not heavily traveled and are mainly flat. We visited Calvert Cliffs for some fossil hunting and the Patuxent Naval Air Museum. Both are great destinations for those with kids. Calvert Cliffs, however, requires a 1.8-mile trek from the parking lot on a dirt/ gravel/ boardwalk path. Jogging strollers might be okay but it could be a challenge for young ones. Our 7-year old loved it and came home with a pocket of fossilized shark teeth! Getting back to the campground, the transient area is spacious with a great field for frisbee, star gazing or whatever. There is a volleyball net and tetherball also. We look forward to coming back someday.

I rate this place with 3 stars because all though it's a nice place I go there strictly for there boat ramp witch is over priced they charge me $10 to use there ramp and there ramp sucks it's basically a whole it's not paved it's not level it's tricky to get your boat on the trailer there but Captain pats is always good there bathrooms are nice the camping grounds are nice there speed bumps are a big pain in the but if they had a nice boat ramp I would give 5 stars but if your not a experienced boater do not try to pull your boat out at there boat ramp you might fail big time

We have been going here since 1986. A wonderful family campground. There is a great waterfront restaurant there, Captain Pat's!!!
