From Dickerson Conservation Park parking lot going north, the C&O Canal Towpath gets into a section where you are so close to the river, the view is quite pleasing

The largest tree in Maryland (sycamore) is located here not far from the parking lot, a few hundred yards down the river.

We love the canal and this portion is great. Just have to watch for horses and what they leave behind. Not many views of the Potomac but the canal has water in this area.
