Really nice storage sheds. They have temp control maybe humidity. I'd say that they're the nicest ones in the city.

I called to inquire about renting a unit and was promptly called back. Even though there are no units available, and no waiting list, I will check in from time to time for availability status.

I’ve been renting both temperature controlled units as well as an outside unit to park a car in and the experience has been great. The place is always clean, safe and secure. I will rent units there again as well as recommend.

My RV wheel covers were stolen and my batteries were vandalized in an unsuccessful attempt to steal them. I was really mad that this happened because a storage company is supposed to ensure the security of one's property for the money paid, that's the whole point. The customer wants to know that the item can be left there safely without the need to babysit it to make sure no one's messing with it. Well I paid the money and someone messed with it anyway! >(I reported the incident to an employee there and they just gave me some lame non-answer excuses. They didn't offer any help or recourse, they should have at least checked the cameras. Since I was ending my lease shortly I didn't escalate, but at least the person I spoke to they just didn't want to take any responsibility. Well, they're being paid so it IS their responsibility. They might be ok for locking storage unit rentals but don't entrust them with anything of value stored outside. The monthly fee is low but so is their level of service.

With any move, nothing ever goes as planned. With that being said, rental issues cost us a day of loading and pushed our schedule to the right. Where Gap is convenient: you can select a unit, fill-out the paperwork, and pay online. Where Gap is inconvenient: Prices, for one. Ouch. I’ve paid less for more in Fairbanks, AK. The other? Saturdays. In the years I’ve utilized storage facilities (Military; we move a lot) I’ve never come across storage facilities that aren’t open on the weekend and/or require an appointment to actually gain first access to the facility. Apparently this is common in the Cumberland area. Regardless, I’m going overseas for a year and hoped to rent a unit from Gap for approximately 13 months but when I contacted her she said she wasn’t available until “3 or 4 o’clock”. 1.) 3 or 4 o’clock is a timeframe, not an appointment. 2.) We were coming from North Carolina on Friday (admittedly, it was 4:50 when I contacted her, but again, we lost a day due to rental vehicle issues) and asked to access the facility on Saturday so we could return the equipment on Sunday. 3.) Time is money. Wasting time with rental equipment costs additional money. 4.) Is this a one person show? Is availability based solely on the schedule of the owner/operator? For the prices they’re charging, I’d imagine they could hire weekend help to handle incoming business. Maybe the type of business model where you set your customers’ hours works for this area and it being one of a select few storage units in the greater Cumberland area allows it. I’m not sure. Regardless, it doesn’t work. We took our business elsewhere and got a larger (10x20) unit for $60 cheaper. So maybe I should thank Gap Storage for saving me $780 over the course of 13 months.
