I love Lidl, and this store is usually amazing, but I had the unique experience today of going to the store, and there were literally no shopping carts available. I think this is less of a referendum on Lidl, but rather me just needing to share this experience with the world. That is all.

This location has gone way downhill in the last year unfortunately. When I went there were burnt bakery items, rotting melons with flies on them, other spilled or crushed items in the refrigerator section, it’s rough. Then I get up to the cashier and say hi…she doesn’t acknowledge me & her coworker standing next to her doesn’t either. Then she shoves my bakery items full force down the bagging lane up under heavy items. ? Whatever is going on there, it seems to be several different factors that include understaffing and poor staffing decisions.

I’m a business owner so I want to share my in-depth thoughts. The store is probably struggling to make money. Low traffic with low prices means low revenue. Now, I shop here for specific things. The few name brand items like mini pizzas by digorno (now discounted at this location) and many other off brand frozen food items are now not available in this store. These cut backs are to save money and I assume they are lower ROI products. With the staff count I’ve seen I think this Lidl location is struggling. This review is my hope that there can be a change in management that can guide this Lidl back on track. With adequate staff and a good location here in Columbia there’s no reason there should be this much of a struggle. Whoever does ordering needs to be crafty and whoever dictates how to roll out corporate strategy should also tailor things to fit the needs of this location. Until these sorts of core changes are made I don’t see this location lasting beyond it’s lease term…

I go to area lidls around town this ones like all others I've been to very clean and friendly employees that are always around to help managers are very friendly and being sure alls well in store

I’m here to support any and all grocery stores that make eating food somewhat affordable.So glad to have a place like Lidl in the Columbia are to compete with grocery chains that pride themselves in making things as expensive as possible.This Lidl has plenty of options for every palate, and it’s extremely helpful that they have well-considered vegan options. That’s a huge benefit of shopping here for me!

Question, why did you open up a new line, ask who is next, and then take the people from the very back of the line who had 15+ items each versus the people who were actually next and had one item in hand each? Just curious.

Lidl was rough!! People had called off and the people that were there didn't do what needed to be done to open. The manager was getting it done though. She filled in where needed.

Generally well run, clean, low prices, and great selection. I have had the occasional hiccup here (such as an employee closing the store 15 mins early) and you MUST check the berries before buying as they are prone to mold, but other than that no big complaints. I really wish people would stop stealing the carts, as they always seem to have only a few of the small two-basket carts. Which they'd offer baskets as well. Note that you'll have to bag everything yourself.
