This is for the self service look. I have been on the regular lane in the past and had a great experience as well. The self service kiosk is located on the side of the building towards the exit. Come prepared with your tag number and last four digit of your VIN number. Credit card payment only. I’ll suggest you locate your car OBDII connection socket before coming as well to save time. You will most probably need to get on your knees to plus the device into your car.The instructions are fairly easy to understand and follow. Do not forget to take your print out before driving off. Good luck!

For VEIP and emissions being linked with the MVA, I am shocked with how quickly I was able to get this done. Last time I did this I went to a self-service one in Rockville. I liked the concept of that, so I decided to look for another location that had the self-service option. This location in Columbia had self-service but also has around 5 full service lanes that have associates that help you. I have not done the full service before and decided to try it out. The lines move quickly, it is stress-free.

One can only imagine what would've happened if, upon traveling the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City by car, Dorothy Gale of Kansas and her dog Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsman, and the Cowardly Lion had to make a pit stop by the 6340 Woodside Ct. VEIP Station in Columbia, Maryland to get their biannual vehicle emissions test. If they arrived thirty minutes before opening on a Saturday, they likely would've been in and out with a clean bill of health for their car, a pair of shimmering ruby slippers for Dorothy to take her home, a cerebellum for the scarecrow, unmatched bravery for the lion, and a perpetual beating ticker for the Tin Woodsman in less than ten minutes once the car bays opened. And, with that being taken care of so quickly and efficiently, L. Frank Baum's novel never would have seen print, much less been adapted into a Technicolor masterpiece.

The kiosk was 'unavailable at this time' -1 since I wanted to avoid others. The tester had no mask -1.The test was quick and easy other than the above issues.

The self serve Kiosk is a POS at the Columbia, MD location. It's down more than it's up. I waited behind 2 cars who had no luck only to experience the same, a broken machine that walks you through the steps and then says "sorry, we can read your vehicle ID, your money will be refunded to your credit card. The real kick in the Azz is I witnessed about 10 other cars after me experience the same thing while finally driving around to the regular line. Not only did I have to pay $14.00 instead of $10.00, but when I informed the attendant of the problem he said "yeah, it's like that all the time...people always complaining". Seriously, get you act together Hogan. Where is the accountability? This isn't an aberration, it's incompetence! Don't waste my time and money!

Just went. In and out immediately. I went directly to the self-service kiosk. $10 instead of $14. Yeah just a $4 savings, but I also saved 20 minutes by not getting in line with everyone else at the full-service lanes. Fir me, time equals money.Lots of folks complaining that the kiosk is busted. It's fine now. Very easy to use -- they made it so that a 6th grader can use it (though I hope there aren't any 6th graders driving). By far the most difficult part is plugging the cable into your car's OBD port. Some cars are easy. Others ... not so much. So bring your paperwork from the MVA with the bar code as well as a credit card. In and out! And open 24/7.
