This place looks like an apartment complex especially from the street. I wonder if that is what it use to be. When I pulled into the parking lot I thought, “oh gosh my appointment is at someone’s house.” Not that anything is wrong with a kitchen beautician but I’m not in to going to strangers house. I’d feel more comfortable if it is someone I know like family or a friend. Anyway, after sitting in my car for a minute, I realized it was businesses. The Hair Brush is in building D so don’t park in the front instead drive around the back or you can walk like I did. Walking made me realize that this place is huge. It definitely doesn’t look this big from the street. There’s also maps on the wall (like at the mall) to tell you where you need to go. Once inside, I realize this is a—I don’t know what you call it—place where all the stylists have their own little rooms. A private space. The only thing they share is the common area. So if this is your first time, you can ask someone which room your stylists is in. Tessa was awesome. Even though the rooms are small, it was so zen-like. It was nicely decorated. There was relaxing music and it smelled good. I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed while getting my hair done. She also has a special treat if you go to her. I don’t want to spoil it by telling you what it is but I’m sure you’ll love it. I also enjoyed the fact that she told me everything she was doing and using in my hair. Not many stylists do that; you have to ask. She was also very chatty but in a good way. So many times I’ve sat in a chair and it was so awkward. I recommend.

If you're a new client to the Hair Brush and Tessa is your stylist, please do yourself a favor and announce your arrival prior to being seated in the waiting area. It's been a while since I've visited a salon and apparently protocol has changed a bit. After sitting in the lobby for 1 1/2 hours, I texted Tessa that I was leaving. She responded hours later, with accusations of me missing our appointment. She even went as far as to call me a liar. All this amidst professing her professionalism, sarcastic sentiments of "Be blessed" and prayer hand emojis. Was it silly of me to sit for an extended period of time without letting her know I was there? Perhaps. However, as a former business owner myself, greeting the business owner should not be a prerequesite to being serviced. To all the "professionals" out there who still subscribe to the philosophy that customer services is a key ingredient to running a successful business, be blessed!
