A Disappointing Change in ServiceWe've been living in this area for decades and have always heard great things about this local shop. Three years ago, we decided to give it a try. While the prices were high, the service was commendable, and we understood that everything in this area comes with a premium price tag. We continued to support them, especially during the pandemic, to help our local businesses. However, things took a turn for the worse two years ago when the front service/sales gentleman retired. His replacement, an ambitious yet crafty salesperson, has unfortunately led to a decline in our trust and satisfaction with the shop.Almost every time we went in for an oil change, we felt pressured into unnecessary and expensive services. For instance, this summer, we were quoted over $1200 for various services, including a fuel induction de-carbon service and a GDI intake service kit.Last summer, we replaced four brake pads and rotors at this shop. After less than 12,000 miles, our back pads were already worn down to under 0.008 inches. When we asked about the warranty (30,000 miles after installation pads and rotors), we were told that the issue was likely due to other parts such as the calipers. This excuse, coupled with the fact that these potential issues were not checked during the initial service, led us to question the integrity and technical capability of the shop.Furthermore, we noticed duplicated services listed on our quotes, leading to overcharges. For example: **OPcode BRK001** Estimate rear brakes "check brakes and advise remove all wheels, inspect front and rear brakes for wear, check rotors and drums for run out. check brake hardware, wheel cyclinders, emergency brake operation. Check master cyclinder operation and fluid level road test, hoses and calipers This was labor only 92.91 usd**Opcode MANM39** "replace rear brake pads and rotors remove wheels, check pads for even or uneven wear, check brake caliper operation, disk rotors for manufactures specifications, disc brake hardware refinish disc rotors within specifications, clean disk caliper slides. Install brake pads, rotors and calipers. install wheels torque to specification..." This was labor 268 and parts 1017 usdthe BRK001 and MANM39 opcodes both included similar services, some of which are typically included for free during an oil change at other shops.Having said these, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. We write this review not out of spite, but to inform our fellow locals. It's disheartening to see a once reputable business tarnished by short-sighted sales tactics. We hope the owners, who we know to be honest businessmen, can rectify this situation and restore the shop's reputation.

I had an engine diagnostic with hillmuth, and while it may be more expensive than someplace else, it is a complete diagnostic. They'll check your auto undercarriages condition, tires, brake fluid, oil, etc. When all is said and done, you can be sure they not only really looked at your vehicle but gave you honest options for your repairs. And this isn't my first time using hillmuth either.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

The team was very communicative about what work needed to be done and were very flexible with my schedule. My car also drives very smoothly now and I don't hear my brakes rattle anymore! Funny thing, I am almost unnerved by the lack the rattling I hear when I drive with the windows open along any stretch of curb. None of the previous shops I've been to were able to fix the rattling brake pads in the calipers so I had just accepted that this was my car's reality (since it has been rattling for the past 60K miles), but then they fixed it (my 120K routine maintenance) and now my car is so quiet! SO QUIET! They also cleaned the front seats of my car :) I have multiple dogs that ride with me every weekend. They miraculously got the dog hair out of the carpet!

Stopped in to get a battery drain looked at on Wednesday. They couldn’t get to it until Monday which is more than ok. But the guy behind the desk wouldn’t let me leave it for two days while I waited for the appointment. He couldn’t have cared less I had arranged a ride up there and the car probably wouldn’t start on Monday bc of the battery issue.Never used them in 20 years living here. Won’t be back for another 20. With Sunoco down the street, there is no reason to stop here. My car is happily sitting in their much smaller parking lot waiting to be repaired.

I have been there several times, liked them for a while and wanted to be a long-term customer but I will not return. The last time I was there,I felt the front desk guy was overselling, exaggerating the issue with my car and trying to scare me into agreeing to the recommended service.I lost my trust in this business.

I have trusted our vehicles to Hillmuth of Clarksville and other Hillmuth locations for more than a decade. I have been consistently impressed with the quality of their work, their clear communication of timing and any issues that come up, and the value for repairs. On my recent suspension repair, a local tire shop's quote was nearly 2x the Hillmuth price, and the work (as always) was done on time.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I’ve lost my wheel lock key socket. They removed all 4 wheel lock lug nuts in under 35 minutes. What more can you ask for. The front desk gentleman were very pleasant to speak with.

The recent repair and maintenance were excellent. They met my every expectation and more. They continued to reach out to me w/ any updates. They were very transparent w/ the costs. No surprises. This type of customer experience is hard to find these days in the service industry. My auto is running better than it has in years!! Thank you, Matt.

All of interactions with the customer service team have been positive and polite. As a female, it is very important that I receive a detailed explanation of repairs. I question everything and conduct my own research as well. All repairs are itemized by estimates and repair details. This shop doesn't pressure you, but will explain the benefit vs risk of completing or not completing needed repairs. Their pickup/drop off service is timely and reliable. So far, I've had several repairs done at the Clarksville Hillmuth shop such as changing transmission fluid, brakes, alignment, spark plugs, etc. over the last two years. It is worthy to note that my 2007 Altima-original owner with about 130K miles drives well. Most of the repairs are due to age--nothing last forever.

Rating is Good, with a 'But'. Used them once again after having experience with them some 30 yr ago. Had the car towed in due to overheating condition while on the road. Service was good, communication good, website good (left history and service instructions on it) but when it came to paying the bill, which had been given to me accurately as an estimate, I was still shocked, essentially for the labor charge. The hourly rate was not on the bill (not sure if it was displayed in the office) but the total for each of the two needed repairs (a coolant system fitting and thermostat ) was close to 1K. I will say they could have replaced the 1 yo coolant and could have charged me more but only charged for what apparently had been lost from the system. Also, there was necessarily some diagnostic time on it to diagnose the two factors that went into the repair and ensure correction. Bottom line, they are too far from home to be my regular repair facility but even if wasn't the case I likely wouldn't use them again; . They do appear to run a nice shop, well organized and all 5-6 bays were filled with vehicles with activity on them. They were able to immediately work on my unscheduled problem with quick turnaround.

I had a great experience with them. My car had electrical issues and it had us in the warranty and I was glad to hear that they except mine in the warranty. I will never take it anywhere else.

Thank you for fitting me into your busy schedule. After my break down in Mo. Co. and tow, you did a great job replacing the broken water control valve quickly. Glad to be rolling again.
