I used Kevin to have more a personal touch than the software available, but it was very hard to get in touch when I had a question, the answers were vague and very generic. He did not tailor the service to my situation. Not worth the extra work (Yes, it's more work to file taxes with him rather than an automated software; No, I did not save more at all)

Kevin Smoot was very nice in our initial call. Nonetheless after we discussed activities moving forward, communication lessened. He provided three options for tax preparation services with no explanations. I had to reach several times to Kevin to request explanation of services. I finally got in touch with him and he explained the services. I opted for the basic package. He specifically said that he would discuss the file once completed. When file was complete all I received was a notice to approve the documents. Kevin refused to discuss the documents or explain next steps but he quickly charged my card. He refused to discuss the file. I was so irate for the lack of concern and regard for services. I stopped payment. I told him that I would resume payment as soon as someone from The the office discuss the file. He immediately voided the tax file and rudely dismissed me. I will be reporting this service to Dave Ramsey as Kevin Smoot and Accountability is listed on Dave's site as an approved ELP. The service was horrible. Do not cater to this business.

Kevin has filed my taxes for over ten years. Long ago I filed taxes on my own; he found several deductions I missed and amended those years. I thought I was saving money using turbo tax, but it was actually costing me more in unknown deductions. Kevin keeps up with the ever changing tax laws and he keeps his clients informed via email throughout the year. I highly recommend his services!

We used Kevin to fix a previous tax year issue and do our most current taxes. Kevin is a constant professional and truly knows his stuff. He is super confident in his work and rightly so! Don't waste your money on someone cheaper just to have to pay to have it redone. Get it done right the first time! We won't be using anyone else ever again!

When it comes to my personal or business tax I trust no one but Kevin Smoot. Smoot has been doing my taxes since he got into the tax world. Furthermore, Smoot has a passion for what he does. Smoot stays up to date on tax laws that seem to change daily. In addition, I receive emails from him about what is going on with changes that are very informal. Smoot emails are personal he talks about his family and how everyone is doing. Smoot is the best I will continue using him and one day my kids will use him. Smoot is part of this family. I have recommended numerous friends and others with business’s who are extremely happy with Smoot and what he does. If you are looking for a new tax person, Smoot is who you want and look no further.

Having set up a small HR Consulting/Outsourcing business, we also needed to get the financial tracking correct. We reached out to Kevin to review our setup and guide us through the nuance ofQuickbooks. While he validated that we were doing things right, he also talked through some of the nuances and answered a LOT of questions for us. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! COST ME THOUSANDS IN FINES AND THEY NEVER FILED MY TAXES!!!!I took Kevin (the owner) to lunch and he seemed like a great guy. He was recommended from a colleague. I explained to Kevin that I had been dealing with a very rough time in my life with my fiancé and I splitting up and health problems. I told him for the first time I would need to file for an extension and I had no idea how anything worked. I explained that I wasn’t a tax expert by any means and that I really needed his guidance to help me. He made it seem like that was exactly what he was going to do. Even trying to make me feel like he was understanding of my situation by saying that my ex reminded him of his wife and that I was lucky to be moving on. When I came to his office to get everything done he told me that I needed to send the checks that day to the IRS and that I would be “good to go”.. NEVER ONCE MENTIONED his fee was due that day or gave me an option to pay on the spot at his house..?Well... HE NEVER FILED MY TAXES. He also felt that he didn’t need to inform me that my taxes weren’t filed. I only found out by a random call to the IRS about something else where they explained that the amounts for the checks were wrong because of the extension he filed for me and that he should have known that as a tax professional. He didn’t inform me that the check amount he told me to send wasn’t enough due to the extension that he filed for me. He left me completely in the dark. I told him the day we did my taxes that I was waiting for a check to clear and that payment would be made ASAP to him. He never once said to me.. “if you don’t pay me right now I won’t file your taxes today.” If he ever mentioned ANYTHING like that I would have borrowed money from family to make it happen that day. Instead he pretended like everything was fine!!! I still have no idea why he would do that to someone. Just be honest about the situation. I own a video production company and sometimes I have to wait 30-60 and sometimes 90 days for a client to pay me. Kevin claims to be a semi pro photographer and said he totally understood what I was dealing with. To not be upfront about that with someone you know is in a tight spot and told you their mind is in a million places with health problems and all sorts of stuff.. it’s just beyond unprofessional. When I found out I sent him messages to call me right away. NO CALL BACK. NO EMAIL. NOTHING. I waited 4 days and finally called him again and he actually got upset that I called him while he was hanging out with his family and claimed he forgot to email me.. when he did he said I should have noticed at the very bottom of his email that he mentions he won’t file until you pay.. but in the situation I was in.. he needed to say that to my face so I could have done it that day. He knew I was in the middle of moving and had been in the hospital. All my belongings in boxes. My life upside down, having major health issues and was relying on his help. He didn’t care at all and just took my money knowing my taxes weren’t getting filed. Since he didn’t tell me that he took my payment and didn’t actually file my taxes, I had to find out almost a year later and now owe thousands of dollars in fines and interest on it because he didn’t feel it was important information for me to have that my taxes never got filed. He has offered no help with this situation and has been extremely unprofessional. When things go wrong you want to be able to trust the business owner to do the right thing.. that is NOT what this company does. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!
