Woodend was the PERFECT venue for our wedding! The grove and mansion are beautiful spaces, you really don’t need a lot of decor to make them look nice. The tent offered the perfect indoor-outdoor experience and piece of mind as a backup plan. The location is wonderful - it feels like the house is secluded and private, but you are only about 8 minutes from a wide range of hotel options in Bethesda for guests.
Beatriz was great to work with, she answered all our questions and was very communicative.
Not only did Woodend fit our wedding vision, but we also loved that we could support a good cause at the same time. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Woodend Sanctuary for a wedding.

Woodend provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The beautiful setting throughout the property captivated our guests and they wouldn't stop talking about it. Additionally, the staff helped ensure that everything ran smoothly, which made our day stress-free and enjoyable. We are so grateful for the role Woodend played in creating wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

The new nature playground near the entrance is really cool and it is fun to explore the short trail loops with my toddler, too. We also love the gift shop! It would be nice if there was more convenient parking near the playground. When I took my toddler to the playground this morning, an employee (I think) approached me after we had started playing and told me I couldn’t leave my car in one of the adjacent unmarked parking spaces and that I needed to move it all the way up the hill to the other side of the mansion. Ultimately, she allowed me to park it in one of the “15-min” spaces by the preschool, but it would be great if the spaces were at least labeled clearly. Those with babies and toddlers understand how frustrating it is to finally get out the door with your child and all their gear, get settled at the play ground, and then be told you have to pack everything up again and move your car due to unclear parking spaces.

We had our wedding at the Woodend Sanctuary, and the space was so beautiful! We loved the greenery and trees in the space – having our wedding ceremony in the Hemlock Grove truly felt magical. And we deeply appreciated that the venue had a good option in case the weather didn’t cooperate by providing a big tent with open panes where we could have the ceremony. The mansion was beautiful as were the grounds – and it was an added bonus that some of the money used to pay for the venue was a donation for the Nature Forward mission to protect wildlife!

Playground: There is no metal or wood play structure, but there are large rocks to stand on and space around them to run. Our students were happy with that.Restrooms: One male, one female. Nothing fancy but adequate.Picnic area: We ate in the open air in a large circle (30 foot diameter) of large rocks and tree stumps.

As a wedding photographer, this venue was a dream. There are so many beautiful nooks and crannies in the house for photos, and it directly abuts an awesome forest that's great for portraits. The wedding I photographed here was a brunch celebration in late October and the light streaming through the ceremony space was incredible. Very excited to return this fall!! ig @smackthatbird

My best friend got married at Woodend this year, and it was the most beautiful and fun wedding! The mansion is very elegant and well kept, yet not over the top. The grounds are lush, with plenty of areas for photos, mingling, and secluded, even though it was a 20-min ride from DC.The venue staff was extremely helpful, polite, friendly and accommodating with all of our requests. My friends provided lawns games for the cocktail hour, so much fun. I can’t wait for another friend to book this venue for their wedding. I will definitely book it for my own when the time comes.Sad to see some negative reviews. See and experience the place for yourself, and take negative reviews with a grain of salt. This place was magical inside and out!

A deceptively sized building for private events. The large sprawling outdoor areas lead to a medium sided tent that in turn leads into a compact dancing area that has amazing acoustics! This venue is actually one of the better ones for dancing as the size and sound of the room keep the energy right where it should be.

Lots of rules but not too restrictive and a great wedding venue. It's a great value that the tent is included with the fee you pay. Beautiful grounds and nice house!

We had a very jarring experience today. We were in the grassy picnic area, showing our 3 year-old an outdoor Connect 4 game. Someone can out of the Manson and very aggressively told us not to touch it because it didn’t belong to us and then something about us breaking it.So we left and won’t be back.
