Buyer beware! Dr. Teller is excellent and I recommend him as an optometrist. However, the way the overall office is run is poor and not worth the hassle when there are tons of decent optometrists. The methods the front office uses to bill the patient and insurance are deceptive, focused on extracting more money. We have outstanding vision insurance and have NEVER had to pay out of pocket for a routine eye exam (for the exact same services I get from Dr. Teller's office). The office, however, has NOT billed my vision insurance company, but rather my medical insurance, at which point, I"m hit with copays and deductibles. This happened two years in a row. The first year, I attributed it to a miscommunication/mistake, but when it happened again the 2nd year, especially after I explicitly got assurance that ONLY my vision insurance would be billed, I realize it's a pattern and intentional. When I've called (numerous times) to get to the bottom of this, it is hard to get out of the automated voice system, but then if you do get to the front desk, I have gotten rude individuals and/or been given the run (apparently 'nobody' is responsible for billing, so too bad if you have a billing question). Additionally, last year, I was overcharged for my contacts (although I didn't realize it at the time). I guess they fixed the clerical error behind the scenes, unbeknownst to me, and thus this year, I had a credit on my account when I went to pay my new contacts. While that is nice, they NEVER told me about the credit, nor did they proactively offer me that money back (via a check or CC refund). What if I never went back to that doctor? I never would have gotten that money. Deceptive practice!!!! I will not be going back again! There are too many optometrists who are sufficient to have to deal with these underhanded tactics and poor customer service.

Avoid at all costs. Questionable billing practices and management here.

Dr. Teller is great. I’ve gone to him for over 20 years. BUT the Chevy Chase location is inconvenient. Stay away from the parking garage. Very small and very tight.

Disorganized and rude staff. Plenty of other good options in the neighborhood.

Dr. Teller is fantastic. I've been his patient for over 20 years and would not trust anyone else with my sight. The staff is friendly, and the location is excellent. Highly recommend.

GARBAGE. Went in with a scratched eye, blurred vision, and massive pain. Was not seen. No cate for my situation. The receptionist is horrible. Do not use this business for medical eye issues.

I've been a patient of Dr. Teller's since 2018. He and his staff are awesome. Very welcoming, professional, and consistent. I've sent friends there when they're looking for a new eye doctor and they all agree - he's the best. Strongly endorse their services and can recommend enthusiastically.

Dr. Lobaugh was terse and dismissive when I went in for my exam, clearly in a bad mood. The optical department is treated shabbily by the practice - low pay and condescending management. The doctors have the optical department processes payments and while they have you, the patient, captive, they are expected to do a hard sell on glasses and contacts before you can leave. I wouldn't be surprised if they are paid on commission. Their products are hugely overpriced:Glasses - standard frame, multifocal, after insurance - $685 - outrageous. I can't imagine what their designer frames cost. With Warby Parker and online shops, I thought the model of gouging patients for glasses and contacts was over. I went back to recheck my reading prescription, only to be told by Dr. Lobaugh that they arbitrarily assign a reading prescription according to the patient's age. He charged me $132 for this information. When I politely suggested there should be no charge, Dr. Lobaugh yelled at me until I paid. Go somewhere else.

This was my first visit to an optometrist and I did a lot of research on offices in the area. Then I asked coworkers for any recommendations they may have. Dr. Lobaugh and Eye Rx in Chevy Chase landed high on both of my lists. I couldn't have been happier with the efficient experience. The staff was very patient and answered all of my questions. The intern/technician who performed the initial exam was calm and receptive to my observations (I had a lot -- it was my first time!) and Dr. Lobaugh took his time to explain the parts of the exam, their relevance to my diagnosis, as well as simple practices to maintain healthy eyesight between visits. I also enjoyed the ease of ordering new glasses via the in-house OD. WIDE selection of frames and lenses. A fantastic experience all the way around. I'm happy to have put in the effort and relieved to have found Dr. Lobaugh and EyeRx.

Bad:- Contacts and Eye Frames are overpriced. You can buy exactly the same eye frames/contacts cheaper at Costco or Visionworks.Ugly:- I did not like my trial contacts and prescribed eyeglasses. During the follow-up appointment, my doctor adjusted my prescription. I asked him to print out a new prescription for my contact, however, he replayed that the prescription was exactly the same and I could order 1 year supply instantly. liar!!! I had old prescription paper and when I compared it was completely different - he just tried to avoid giving me trial contacts!!! He even removed old prescriptions from the system!!! They will try to rip you off!- I have two insurances - Cigna and VSP. Every year I visit the doctor's office just to replace scratched eyeglasses which cost only 10$ for me, It was the same more than 7 years for me. Guess what? They submitted a claim to Cigna for my eye exam to claim more money!!! Now I paid 80$ instead of 10$! Come on, guys!Next time I will see a different doctor.

We were traveling out of town, and my wife had an eye emergency. They took care of us completely, and we were able to return home the same day. I highly recommend this clinic.

I've been a patient of Dr. Lobaugh's for many years and have been extremely pleased with his care. The office staff is also great at both locations.

This was my first eye exam and I had an amazing experience! Dr. Angeles is so kind and communicated every step of the exam. I didn't feel rushed — I felt completely comfortable and laughed so much during my visit. Dr. Angeles found I had an astigmatism and sent me to Dario to pick my first pair of glasses.Dario helped me select a really cool pair of frames and walked through my insurance, getting me the best deal possible. There was another staff member I wasn't formally introduced to, but this person along with Dario hyped me up when I tried on my chosen frames. I felt so cool in my surprisingly very affordable Ray Bans! I also appreciate the diversity of the office staff.

I'm a new patient to Eye Rx, having just recently moved to the DMV. I'm so impressed by the team's flexibility and care. I've worn glasses for 15 years, and this was my first time trying out contacts. The staff was so encouraging as I struggled to get the hang of wearing contacts, and they answered all of my questions. Brandon in the optical department was especially helpful. He was so patient with me and open to my feedback when I had to go through several trial packs to find the right fit. He was very communicative, and he made sure that I understood the ordering process clearly. Brandon also informed me of rebates that would help make my order more affordable (which was VERY appreciated). Thank you to the Eye Rx team! I highly recommend them.
