“I went into Cargo Direct on Black Friday after considering doing so for quite some time. I had been looking to upgrade to a King mattress, but had not really yet had the extra money to invest in that. I was pretty aware of the range of prices for various brands/levels of mattresses after a year+ of doing research, watching sales, reading various reddit threads, etc. Given that I needed both a new mattress and frame, I had a number in mind that I didn't want to go over, but I was skeptical that someone was going to actually offer me a deal on Black Friday that met that number. Figuring that Cargo Direct would be my best bet in the area, my girlfriend and I went there first. After walking in, we were quickly found by Joe, who was very informative about his stock and helpful in narrowing down what would work for us in terms of cost & preferences. Already the mattress that Joe suggested was below the cost of what was offered at nearby branded stores. But if you've shopped for mattresses enough, you know that there is an unspoken/implicit aspect of haggling the prices, which can be frustrating if that's not something you're good at. The game of doing that can be stressful with a salesperson acting as if you're being unreasonable while finally relenting like "this is a big problem for me, but I'm doing you a huge favor" (when in reality, this is exactly how their sales go all the time and the whole facade is a horse and pony show.) So much to say, this was NOT my experience with Joe, who immediately offered me a deal on his own deal (that was lower than his competitors to begin with,) and then - being Black Friday, knowing I was out looking for a good deal - offered me a further discount package deal for both the mattress I wanted and frame I needed that was so good in comparison to the number in my head that there was never even a need to go back and forth. Without ever even hearing in the slightest what my budget was, Joe gauged what I was looking for and sent me home with everything I needed and the feeling that I just suddenly had more money in my bank account than I was anticipating after this purchase. He even threw in two pillows unprompted as I was signing the paperwork. I got a home delivery within the week, and am very satisfied with the mattress I purchased and the customer service I received throughout. Mattresses can often be prohibitively expensive and there is so much hullaballoo in the marketing/pricing that it can give you decision paralysis, and/or the feeling that no matter what you spend, you'll still be unhappy with what you got (see: every reddit thread on mattresses.) What I really appreciate about Joe's business model is finding ways to get perfectly good mattresses below standard cost so he can pass those savings on to the community while still keeping his business sustainable. To me, that's a major service to a community, given that everyone needs to sleep and the price of a mattress can be a big pain point for a lot of average folks. Giving people peace of mind on their purchase and better sleep for less is a virtue. Thanks Joe!”
“Loved the selection of good furniture. They price match too. I placed an order then found the same stuff cheaper dang it. But they were very nice and helpful. Will go back again”
“Shopping local is my favorite thing to do. I try to avoid going to Easton or over the Bay Bridge whenever possible. But sometimes online shopping is easier and usually has great prices and free shipping.
That being said, today I stopped in at the Mattress Warehouse trying to support our local businesses. I needed two new twin mattresses for a new daybed w/trundle. Will Hill, the store manager, was helpful and very accommodating and made it possible for me to get the best possible price w/o going online or out of the community. Bravo??”
