So this was my first time and because I have thick curly hair, I was recommended to see Amanda & I was not disappointed one bit! Amanda is super friendly and easy to talk to and she knows curly hair which is very important for anyone with curly hair. She is the real deal and I highly recommend her. The salon is clean and has a good vibe.

I've been coming to Sheela for years. And I bring my mom to her as well. She and the staff are wonderful with my 90 year old mom. Sheela does a great job with my color/highlights/cuts and is a super nice person. The salon is lively and clean and in a great location.

I saw Amanda a few weeks ago to dye the underside of my hair neon pink, and I have never received so many compliments on my hair. She does an amazing job! She thought to add depth to the brown portion of my hair for contrast and the two colors are stellar - Amanda also recommended a color shampoo that adds pigment, and after one wash it's still just as vibrant. This was my third visit with her and I'm definitely going to keep going back! Ooh La Lal is a super cute spot and right in the middle of Old Ellicott City. Highly recommend.

Although I didn't have an appointment at this establishment, I had a gross encounter with two stylists who work there. Not only, was I a visitor to the area, who was scheduled with another tenant on their rented lot but I was simply unloading my vehicle at the loading dock space (which is open for the public/public use). As an African American salon owner of 15 years from Clinton,MD. I can truly understand how busy a Saturday can get. However, after being verbally attacked by two stylist from the salon, I don't believe at this point I would even consider being a walk-in client. Well rounded Customer service is highly required in our industry; even when there is an issue outside of the establishment. I have 6 stylists under me and they're required to handle situations in a respectable manner if I'm not present. However, these stylists were nasty by screaming and yelling while approaching my vehicle. They clearly had no tact about the brand of their salon. I was simply moving my vehicle from the loading space! We literally had been there all of 15 min unloading in an "non-labeled" parking space to be mistreated and yelled at for an issue that was already taking place before arrival. Do better!

I highly recommend this salon!! :) I was desperate for a cut, and did not at all expect a same day appointment (especially being a new client), but they were kind enough to take me. The staff is amazing, so personable yet professional. The building is so charming and beautiful and super clean! And I really felt safe during this whole pandemic mess. My haircut turned out great! I have curly hair and it can be challenging but she did such great work! I'm so happy and grateful. :) The entire experience was a pleasure, I never had to wait, it was quick but correct..... I really recommend. -Stephanie

I’ve been to Ooh La Lal a few times now and I’m wow’ed every time. It’s a relaxing atmosphere with excellent hair care. Thanks to Jessica & Sheila my hair looks better than ever. Excellent cut and the shine treatment is to rave about. Highly recommended
