I live close to this Safeway and have for 10 years, but for the past couple years I’ve driven all the way to the Crofton location to shop. A lot has changed (management). I can tell morale has taken a plunge since then. The last 3 times I’ve gone in I’ve encountered very unpleasant employees at the self checkout. Many items ring up incorrectly and when you ask for help you’re treated like an inconvenience. NO smile. NO enthusiasm. CARELESS. Only a few employees: Crystal, Mary Ann, and a gentleman who works in the dairy department and a couple others are pleasant. Even employees who were once happy and pleasant seem miserable…and even have voiced it to ME that they are—which is unprofessional…so something is not right there. I hope there is resolution soon.

I posted twice about this place in the past 5 years, don't go here often and when I do it reminds me, keep up the good work I'm not going there often. 2 probiotic drink packs for $10 rather than $7.99 each but didn't ring up that way of self-checkout. Took 13 minutes before some young guy came from the other end of the store. I saw him there looking around for help but didn't know he was an employee. He was down here chatting up some girl. After waiting about 2 minutes with the light on at the register and no one responding I tried calling the store got a message and was put on hold for about 11 minutes until that young guy showed up. The prices are much more than Giant on Annapolis road down by Racetrack. It's okay to shop there once in a while if you just need a few things and you happen to be in the neighborhood, Safeway. The store does look cleaning well lit. But like I said with two previous reviews, heaven help you if you ever need help with anything. And by the way the guy showing up at the register didn't solve my problem right away. I told him what the problem was and he used an ID card, press the buttons and said okay you can check out now. He walked away and I still was paying $7.99 each, not 2 for $10 almost 5 minutes later I see him again and tell him you never give me the discount, if I'm not getting the discount I don't want to check out with these items. mind you he was walking by me like I didn't exist. Then he said I know, I was checking the price and then he came back and adjusted the price. Makes me not want to go back there again just like the previous times I posted here. Which by the way someone responded to rather promptly and told me that what I wrote was wrong. I was told the service there is excellent and the store is well-managed. I'm waiting for that response here, been a rough week, I could use some humor 🤭😅

Close too early. Caucasian neighborhoods stay open later and seem to have healthier options.

Long line typical for Safeway. Self checkout had helped the lines move faster
Beef is always better than most other grocery stores (except Harris Teeter)

Caution: They racially profile here! I went to the seafood counter to order some crab legs and when I asked how many pounds 1 tray weighed, the Hispanic lady working the counter made a snide remark insinuating that it may be outside my budget. She proceeded to weigh them but insisted I pay first. I’ve never in my life have been asked this at ANY Safeway!
Her reason was that they do this when orders exceed a certain amount. Funny because the crab legs themselves were under $100 and I’ve ordered 2x as much at the Safeway at the Bowie Town Center with no problem. When I proceeded to show my proof of purchase, she inspected the receipt with a fine tooth comb for that ONE item. Expressing my dismay with the manager fell on deaf ears. Coming to this location was on a whim but rest assured, I won’t be back.

Safeway is getting shiesty with their discounts. It's no longer good enough to have a Safeway card, apparently some discounts require the app, but others don't. Just a way to mislead customers.

So unprofessional, the website says 11pm and I pull up at 10:08 and there are men at the door smoking saying they’re closed. Change your time please!!! You are a business!’nn
