The house is on the National Historical Site list. In poor condition outside. Signage is average. The inside was not accessible. It is next to a very good park.

Anacostia Watershed Society's headquarters tells the story of why it's cool to live in the Washington, D.C. area. In Bladensburg near the Peace Cross and Battle of Bladensburg Memorial is a historic Georgian building with two large verandas on each level. It was built in the 1760s and has served as a tavern, hotel, and now the HQ for an organization trying to restore the Anacostia River.

Great community organization. They organize cleanups, educational events, boat tours, and more for this important natural resource. The health of the Anacostia is markedly improving and they have a lot to do with it!

AWS is a fantastic organization that is doing great things for the Anacostia River. 30 years ago, no one would dare go near the river; now, because of AWS, the river is much cleaner, wildlife are healthier, and people are happy to float the river. By 2025, the Anacostia River will be clean enough to swim in, thanks to AWS.
