Absolutely scam behavior: this location charged $20 to pack an item I had not realized was marked by Amazon as requiring a box (they now still give a QR code when this is needed, same as when no box required). I should have realized but no excuse for this level of price gouging.
10$ for a simple 15inch box, $5 for "materials" (a strip of tape), and $5 for "packing services" (applying said strip of tape). I asked if I could just buy the box and materials and they said I had to buy the service as "packing is not allowed by customers in store".
Does the UPS store not market itself as a one stop shop for shipping needs? Why then do they provide less services at higher expense than a basic post office? Because they can I suppose...

There is a guy that works here that’s either completely incompetent or running a scam. Regardless- I left without shipping my items after realizing I would never get them if this clown was to be trusted. So go to the post office, fed ex, or any other shipping company but not this hampden location.

I would give you -7 if there’s an option. I got package delivered by ups snd clearly box was damaged and driver HAD to see it, it’s impossible to not see that! When I returned damaged product they charged me for wrapping. I had to open the nylon to see if it was damaged. The employee said I don’t care you wrap it or we charge you to wrap it.Great customer service

Hi All; This is definitely not a tape issue, much more egregious. After multiple experiences of rude and inappropriate treatment by staff at this store, I wrote the the manager a private email to try and alert him about all the details of my experiences as I had had enough of a series of systemic staff problems similar to comments about rude, unprofessional staff in other yelp and google reviews. His cavalier brush off as if this is "my" issue singularly is partially copied below and my reply to him is below that. I have known multiple people who also experienced the same poor treatment and were simply too busy or didn't have the time to seek out another location or complain. I run my own company and work 24/7 and if I ever got a comprehensive complaint after multiple incidents I would have a conversation with the customer to find out more and see what may be occurring with my staff. This staff and manager clearly make everything personal, not professional, and I highly recommend that if you care to be a respected consumer and get your service at UPS done proficiently without having arrogant attitude shoved down your throat, go to the nearby River Road location where the staff is nice, respectful. fast and efficient. Again, see the manager reply to my private email and see my email reply to him below that. I kindly removed the two employees names I included because it is obvious this is a top down poor management problem of entitlement per his reply. Also, don't believe the manager comments on Google that he is sorry to hear your complaints and please email him. Don't waste your time. He either can't hire and manage professional staff or he seriously underpays his employees."Manager reply""I am honestly surprised to hear this since they are 2 of the most patient and polite employees at this store, or at any store frankly. I have worked for different UPS Stores over the past 7 years, and as a manager It sounds like this isn't the first time this has happened, and for everyone's best interest I think you should probably seek business else where moving forward."" My reply" This is definitely not the first time it has happened as I made very clear in my email and took it up privately in the hopes you or a qualified manager was more professional and actually cared more about the customers you serve and your reputation in the community as a UPS brand than they do.Look at the majority of Google and Yelp reviews of your staff’s treatment of customers; comments include "rude, lazy, shady, unprofessional and incompetent" in a number of complaints. This customer just decided to speak up and push back in person towards their rude, unacceptably inefficient and unprofessional treatment and take it up privately. However, it is clear it is indeed not important to you to take your customer's complaints seriously and that this is probably a top down issue of a manager/owner also not demanding professionalism and customer respect from his staff ( or a lack of care or awareness) Your defense and lack of accountability for these two highly inappropriate disrespectful staff members rings loud and clear. Staff treatment like has never occurred to me before in ANY store in Bethesda from the very basic fast food restaurant to higher end stores for the 40 years I have lived in and been a part of this community. And surely no manager has so cavalierly dismissed such a serious complaint and issue in my years of doing business with anyone. As I said, I will take this as far as I can go now both publicly online and privately due to the lack of any action or serious recognition of my complaint on your end to both the Better Business Bureau, Corporate UPS, and any other official customer service reporting agencies I can take this to to ensure both I and others who have experienced the same or similar treatment by these two men and now a lack of care or professionalism by management can receive relief from being treated this way as respected consumers in the Bethesda c

If you have read some of the reviews most of them have to do with needing to pay for tape to seal up a box. People - YOU HAVE TO FULLY SEAL YOUR BOX OR BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR TAPE. If you want free tape, go to the USPS. This is not bad service - it’s a policy. Save us all some time, buy some tape, and come prepared.

I can’t give even a star for this store . Please avoid going here . I was trying to drop off an Amazon package that received to me as is . This guy was trying to make money off me saying that I need to tape around the package. I explain to him that it was received to me like this but he refuse to take it unless he’s going to charge me for re - taping it. He was rudely refuse to take it . This is the second time it’s happens to me with this store . They will make you pay for something when they see a larger package. Package was ready to ship like that without any problem. It came to me asis too.So please stop going to this store ..

Does this location offer a drop box? Website said yes, but could not find box anywhere near the facility. Please post information in doors or windows of store or relevant box location information online or to Google or UPS corporate.

Lazy & rude. Unusually poor service even by US standards. Person “helping” me could barely speak up let alone move his hand from his resting head while talking to customers. Found a better location to do my business.

Terrible customer service, when I walked in an employee was at the desk and just stared at me. Didn’t say hello, that they could take/help me, or anything. When I tried to make Amazon returns they said I couldn’t ship them in a package with a zipper, but it was the same exact package that Amazon shipped to me.

People who work in that store are very rude and unhelpful but it’s the only UPS location for n downtown Bethesda so no other choice.

The owner of this UPS Store increased my mailbox monthly fee without letting me know in advance. I found it unethical and unprofessional to increase the customer monthly fee without advance notice.
