This pharmacy is fraudulent. After chronically terrible experiences with CVS, I called my insurance previously to confirm that I would be fully covered if I moved my prescriptions to River RX. I was told yes, and I was looking forward to a better experience. Today, on my first visit, they overcharged me by $70. In order to rectify the situation, I had to call my insurance company again and then have them call River RX to get them to commit to refunding me my money—which took an extra trip to get. After reading other reviews, this upcharge feels like a scam they use on the regular. They weren't even apologetic about it.

They had what we needed when others didn't, but as others have noted, they charge more than regular pharmacies for prescription medicines. My insurance company told me it should have been a $10 copay, but they charged $30.

I moved away from Bethesda 6+ years ago, but still think about this awesome pharmacy. Narender was so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great staff as well. I highly recommend River Rx!

Sometimes they do match the prices. However often their price is higher than CVS. I recently paid $90 more for an inhaler than I would have at CVS.

They are friendly and the location is convenient. In my experience they were way too expensive on some meds with exponential 350-500% markups. Also, my insurance co-pay were at times significantly higher than at chain drugstores. I am able to get my generic meds filled at the nearby Safeway Pharmacy for about $8 when they wanted between $50-$100. There was one instance where my insurance wasn't going to cover the medication (due to a technicality) at which point my physician's office suggested to look online at "Good Rx" for better pricing and coupons. The virtual "coupon" price was honored at Safeway pharmacy nearby on Bradley (corner Little Falls) at about 1/5 of the price.

River Rx is the best pharmacy in Bethesda area for service, care & stocked medications. Pleasant, efficient staff go the extra mile answering questions, faxing/calling drs/insurance cos & following up on needed medications.River Rx strives to help! They are conveniently located on River Rd next to Whole Foods & is always willing to deliver.

Always excellent service, kind and knowledgable staff. They are friendly and warm, and get to know their customers. They try to help you save money, and also -- very importantly -- warn about drug interactions. I can always rely on Narender and his wonderful colleagues.

Of all the many pharmacies I have used in my 93 years, RX is way ahead of any of the others. From the counter clerks to the pharmacist, every one is pleasant, friendly and know the drug business. The owner and pharmacist Nerenda, is filled with wonderful knowledge about everything medical. From the most complicated medicine prescribed to a package of lozenges, he knows everything about it. When seeking his advice, which he is happy to share with you, his answer makes you feel so comfortable that you may think your talking to your specialist doctor. He never tries to sell you over the counter products if you didn't need them, but when you do, he explains everything about them so you are sure your buying the right thing. No matter where you go, you wiill not get a better pharmacy.

Best pharmacy in this area. Narender (the owner/pharmacist) is incredibly smart and personable. Best of all, he’s willing to go the extra mile to help with all kinds of issues. I find most of the personnel efficient and helpful. Some are more social than others but so what. I’m not depending on my favorite pharmacy to provide a boost to my social life. Can’t imagine why anyone would complain about this wonderful neighborhood pharmacy.

While they are friendly, in my experience they are way too expensive even on generic meds, compared with "Good Rx" discount pricing and coupons available at other local chain drugstores.

Rude and unprofessional. Asked the pharmacist which motion sickness meds are best for kids (one of which said "For Kids" on it) and was told "well first of all, i'd never medicate my kids." Didn't ask for her judgement or attitude. Very inappropriate. Lost my biz for good.

I had weird case. I said - my doctor said you did not contact with them. Answer - "they can say whatever they want" its unusual attitude. Next time gonna use other place.
