We sent our little baby to Primrose when she was just 3 months old. All the teachers at Primrose took great care of our daughter, but Ms. Veena was especially amazing. We are immensely grateful to Primrose for taking such good care of our daughter. Thank you, Primrose.

I currently work as an educational coach for Primrose and could not speak highly enough about this school and their amazing teachers. The teachers all implement amazing SEL classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment, and foster a sense of community among students.
In all of my schools I have taught in the past, I have never experienced such excellent communication skills with students and their families that build a strong foundation for student achievement. The proactive communication with parents about their children shows Primrose’s dedication to fostering a strong home-school partnership.
Additionally, each teacher actively works to create a learning environment that fosters cultural inclusiveness, enriching the educational experience for all students. The consistently high academic performance among students in the school demonstrates the positive impact Primrose has on their learning outcomes.
This is an amazing school full of love and a passion for teaching. I have never met more dedicated, compassionate teachers in my entire life than I do at Primrose school in Downtown Bethesda.

Not sure why my review keep disappearing, but I’ll keep reposting[Dec 2022]As I was dropping my son today they told me they will not accept him unless he has a negative PCR test taken on Dec 31st onward. And get this, do you know when they informed families??? Via email almost a month ago and it was inside an attachment!!When activities are planned and especially if we need to PAY MONEY or if they’re taking a day off, they would literally spam us with reminder emails (2-4 time A WEEK) in addition to the verbal reminders!! So unprofessional so unacceptable. And they have the audacity to increase the tuition!Keep in mind that they’re closed for winter break from Dec 23 - Jan 2!!I took my kid to the doctor and he had a negative rapid test and he was asymptomatic. The doc told me there is a high chance the PCR will be negative as well and Heather still will not accept him as I called her with the doc next to me.[Update]I got a call from Heather 30 mins after I left the review saying they will offer to pay $100 for the PCR and they’re doing this for other families. I informed her that I would like to be refunded for today instead which she agreed to do and I appreciate that. Then 15 mins later she called me back saying that she just saw my review and cannot refund me unless I take down my review!! Which honestly sounded like a bribe and I declined. I would like for families to aware of what kind of establishment is being run here. And I’ll bring awareness to regional manager regarding this issue..

Our daughter, Abigail (Abby), has loved Primrose and we are incredibly grateful that we found them initially for backup care when our in-home daycare very unexpectedly closed. The team at Primrose welcomed Abby with open arms and has shown her so much love, and she has definitely learned a ton (academically, socially and emotionally) and made great friends within her class. The daily updates that the school provides via the Procare app are fantastic and it's really cool to feel like we are going to school with Abby! We have never had any questions or concerns about her safety and when she has experienced a minor bump/bruise, the Primrose team has proactively alerted us. Overall, we have had a tremendous experience - while the cost is higher than some other local childcare providers, it is 100% worth it in my view.

The owners at the Primrose in Bethesda were kind enough to allow our daughters to attend on a week-to-week basis while we were waiting for the school in Silver Spring to open. Our girls had a wonderful experience there. The staff was so kind and helped girls through the transitions of changing child care and also having a new baby at home. We would have been happy to stay if it weren’t so far from our house. Highly recommend!

The owners and staff are the most amazing and caring people. As a vendor partner of Primrose, I know first hand how seriously they take the safety and wellbeing of the children. I would highly recommend this school to any parent.

We have been impressed with several aspects of the school--my kids are clearly learning and demonstrate new skills or information routinely. They adore their teachers and friends/classmates. They say ALL the right things during the tour and on the website that you want to hear as a parent. However, there are some glaring issues. It's a black-hole when it comes to communication. Drop off and pick up occur in the lobby so their is no interaction with their actual teachers unless you schedule a meeting during your work day to come see them. They have an app--but it tells you the basics of the schedule and is not used effectively to communicate about changes in your child's day (i.e. they had a substitute teacher today, your child was in a different classroom today, your child had a really rough day or great day). Teacher/Staff turnover is high. They didn't communicate about classroom transitions until I made an issue out of it--it's a lot of basic things that you'd expect proactive communication about that don't occur. That being said, the parents meet across the street most days at the playground to compare notes and try to understand what is going on inside the school--so that is great for trying to understand what is going on--but also irritating because you learn about everything else going on.

We were at Primrose Bethesda for about 18 months, and while we had interactions with many wonderful teachers and staff (to whom we are grateful), there were problems, which are reflected in recent publicly available inspection reports (please see checkccmd.org). First, the turnover in staff was constant throughout our time there, including the hiring and firing of 2 directors resulting in several months with no director at all. Many full-time teachers do not receive benefits of any kind. During the same time period that they failed to adequately staff classrooms in Bethesda (see inspection reports), the owners raised capital to open two additional Primrose franchises (Primrose School at The Parks DC, and Primrose School of Arlington Crystal City). It is hard to reconcile these facts without concluding that the owners are prioritizing financial gain over the well-being of their staff and the children enrolled in their center. Second, there was limited and inconsistent communication with parents about day-to-day operations or big decisions (like changing classrooms). Now that we have started our daughter elsewhere, I can really see what we were missing in terms of openness, communication, and family-centered atmosphere. The whole time we were at Primrose, what was going on inside the school felt like a mystery. Within a week of starting at a new child care center, I had a relationship with my daughter's teachers and understood the rhythms of her day. Through personal experience and conversations with former employees, I've learned that the owners explicitly discourage honest communication between parents and caretakers. For example, they instruct teachers to only share positive information about a child's day through the app. For our first year, they intentionally prevented direct contact between parents and teachers by prohibiting parents from walking children to their classrooms. This was initially a policy meant to reduce COVID exposure, but persisted even after the mask requirements for teachers and students were lifted inside the school. They also configured the app to only allow parents to message the front desk, so there was no mechanism for parents to directly communicate with teachers and the front desk staff served as go-betweens. This was frustrating for small things. For example, multiple times my messages saying "please put bug spray on my child" seemed to get lost in the game of telephone. But it was also potentially dangerous. Towards the end of my daughter's time at Primrose, the management admitted that they had no record of the allergy response plan we had provided at enrollment for a potentially life threatening allergy. It was unclear whether the teacher knew about my daughter's allergy or had the EpiPen available in the classroom. There are positive features of Primrose DB. The facilities are very nice, the location is convenient for those who live in downtown Bethesda, and there are fun activities on occasion. But none of these things can make up for the mismanagement by the owners. I wish Primrose DB staff, teachers, and families the best, but I would strongly caution any potential parents or employees against engaging with these owners. They do not prioritize the interests of their staff or the children under their care. Finally, please be aware that, as of September 2022, this childcare center was still operating under a provisional license, as they had not yet met the Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements (see inspection reports). Also, as of September 2021, infant care tuition was $2,806 per month and full time infant care teachers earned $14/hour on average with no benefits.

I have nothing but good things to say about Primrose of Downtown Bethesda! As new parents, my husband and I were nervous wrecks about sending our 10 week old daughter to daycare at such a young age, but Primrose very quickly put us at ease. Everyone we’ve come into contact with has been friendly and genuinely cares about our daughter, which makes it so easy to drop her off every morning. The facility is beautiful and spotless. Communication (both in-person and through the Procare app they use) is easy and frequent. Receiving regular updates throughout day about feedings, diaper changes, and naps as well as photos of active engagement with teachers has helped us completely trust Primrose staff in all aspects of our daughter’s care. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to send our daughter to Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda!

Our son truly enjoyed going to school each day; we were excited to see his vocabulary advance in such a short period. We highly recommend Primrose Downtown Bethesda - we thank them for such an outstanding experience.

Lovely place. Great team. Super program. My 5 and 1 y/o attend Primrose on a daily basis and they are enjoying the experience. It took a while for my 1 y/o to adapt to the new routine and the staff was very patient and helped her ease through her new environment. I highly recommend this place!!!
