I started taking my puppy, Gizmo, to Benson Animal Hospital a few months ago and have had nothing but great experiences. Dr. Benson is straightforward, thorough, and knowledgeable. The front desk staff is phenomenal and they clearly care about the animals being treated. Don’t allow the negative reviews to sway your decision to come here, Benson Animal Hospital truly is the best, and I confidently recommend it to anyone who asks.

I was really disappointed by this clinic and Dr. Benson has a terrible bed side manor and I didn’t like how he treated one of my pups. Very happy Bond Vet is around. Expensive and unnecessary

Friendly staff, totally reasonable pricing, and one of the most knowledgeable and down to earth vets I've ever had. I've had dogs and cats my entire life and been to several vets throughout the area. We moved from Kenwood Animal Hospital about two years ago for several reasons for Benson. Best decision we've ever made. When we had a cat with a potentially fatal condition, Dr. Benson provided a number of scenarios and then gave a "this is what I would do if it was my pet" scenario. When our rescue puppy came to us with an entropion condition, we took him to both Benson and an eye specialist. The eye specialist wanted to wait until the puppy was a year old and estimated the cost to fix the problem at 5-6K. Dr. Benson recommended doing it at the time of her spaying at 7 months b/c her eyes were becoming irritated. His cost for the procedure was btw. 500 and 600 vs thousands. He did an amazing job and she only had to be under anesthesia one time. I can't recommend Dr. Benson and his practice highly enough...wish there were more stars I could give.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Benson saved our dog's life. We learned that our dog had a mass on her spleen that could kill her if not removed. The timeline was complicated. My wife was 39 weeks pregnant so it wasn't a great time for surgery. Dr. Benson explained that the spleen could linger for a while, but it could also burst anytime--there was really no way to know until it was removed. Rather than chance it, however, Dr. Benson made time to do the surgery the next day, a Friday morning. And we are so thankful that he did. Apparently the mass had already started to leak/burst and our dog may not have survived the weekend. Instead, she is sitting on the couch with us and our new baby. Many of the vets we've seen over the years have a really corporate feel. That is not the case with Benson Animal Hospital. It feels like what a vet should be--caring and personal. I can't recommend them enough!

Parents this vet does NOT do xrays as a part of teeth cleaning and 2/3 of the tooth is below the gum line. It is impossible to see if a tooth needs to be extracted without xrays and when I told the front desk NOT to extract any teeth without first talking with me, Dr Benson demanded I pick up my little girl and told me he would no longer clean her teeth today (I had already signed the approval to extract form, and I was changing my mind)This is who will be taking care of your little ones so think twice before you bring him or her here for a dental cleaning, which again is not complete nor thorough. Lastly, Dr. Benson's bedside manner is abrupt and not comforting and he was bothered that I had a list of questions for him when I brought her in for the blood work.

I took my girl to a proper dentist and she told me that Charlie has teeth resorption and three need to be extracted. THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE TO KNOW WITHOUT FULL X-RAYS AND BENSON DOES NOT DO THAT. Additionally Benson told me, on the day we did blood work 5/25 that her teeth looked great..

If I could do lower I would. We had aMorning appointment to follow up from an er visit for our new puppy. Not only did they have us wait over a hour after our appointment but When we brought up concerns that the er vet had about our puppy's blood work. "Dr." dismissed it and refused to do any blood work. Turns out we have every right to be concerned as when we took him to a new vet, his blood work is showing signs of something serious. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CONCERNS TOTALLY IGNORED.

TERRIBLE. had us wait an extra hour to see the vet who refused to do blood work for our puppy. turns out our concerns were confirmed with our new vet who didn't dismiss our concerns. do not go unless you want to be belittled, gaslit, and then end doing your animal harm. Not sure if we were dismissed because we were young, female presenting or if he's just generally homophobic.... but we were dismissed causing our dog to go through more pain then he had to endure

I thought because this vet clinic charges so much that they would provide excellent service unfortunately the exact opposite is true. I found this location to be unclean. They “require” unnecessary procedures and then are unable perform them. I was able to watch as they worked on my pet through the window. The vet and the vet techs do to not wear gloves. They acted inexperienced and rough with my non-aggressive Siamese kitten. The vet could not find a vein to take blood. Afterward, the vet tech was -strangling- my cat while the cat wasn’t even struggling. My pet was traumatized by the experience and returned home filthy from being handled so roughly by so many people. My kitten also developed a lump because the vet tech injected a vaccine into her leg too quickly and didn’t massage the area. Poor practices and untrained care given.I ended up getting the service I was looking for at Montgomery County Humane Society for about 6 times less cost.

Amazing staff, vet techs and front desk workers included. For context, I have a rescue pit bull who really struggles with having her nails done and honestly just is a pain at the vet in general. The staff here always goes out of their way to make her feel comfortable and listen to us as her owners who know how to handle her best. We recently had to take our pup in back to back weeks for a nail appointment, and then to be treated for a dog bit wound, so by the second appointment she was really not having it. Even still, the front desk staff offered treats, gushed over her, and asked to go outside and wait with her because being in the lobby was too much for her to handle. It can be really hard trying to find a vet who not only tolerates, but shows genuine kindness to a dog that is dealing with such high levels of anxiety at the vet, especially given her breed. Never once did they act scared of her or make us feel uncomfortable or bad about her behavior, they just embraced her and made the experience as smooth as possible. I cannot recommend them enough, and to the lovely front desk ladies who helped with Stella last week- Thank you so much you have no idea how much we appreciate you!!!

Benson's animal hospital has been around for a long time. I've had a very good experience there; I find the staff very friendly and helpful. Dr Benson is a highly qualified veterinarian with a good bedside manner. My dogs can't wait to get inside, of all things; must be the treats. Hmmm.

Great vet, and super professional. However, you do need to push and ask a lot of questions to get the info you need. Open questions won’t get you farHowever once you ask all the questions you get all the answers if that makes sense

The people here are great, and my animals have always gotten quality care. Had a bit of a surprise this morning when, after using them for 20 years with their walk-in basis only, I showed up to find that they had moved to appointment only with no warning and were charging a $50 walk in fee. Needless to say, I made an appointment and left, but a little notice (postcard? website?) before coming in would have been nice. No, I didn't call first because I hadn't had to do that in 20 years.
