Caring, skilled, and friendly staff. Several members of my family take their elderly and youngest pets there, and we have all had positive experiences. I drove from Chevy Chase to Beltsville for their expertise and care before I moved to Greenbelt. The entire staff take the time to explain and discuss treatment plans and alternatives. I highly recommend them

UPDATE: within an hour of this post, their staff contacted me to apologize and offered to call in a prescription. It was called in to our local pharmacy and filled within the hour. The supervisor who called was empathetic and I appreciate her prompt response.

Inflexible. My dog had been at my parent's place in Dallas for a few weeks and I flew over to Dallas to pick her up. I forgot to bring trazodone with me so on the date of the flight, I called to see if they could call in a prescription for one trazodone pill to the local pharmacy.
The front desk staff immediately said their policy is that all prescriptions take 24 hours and I would have to go on-site to pick up a paper prescription if I want something filled at a pharmacy other than their own. I'm a pharmacist and a prescription written vs. called in makes no difference. And it just takes one phone call (or they can leave a 30 second voicemail at the pharmacy). I know this is my fault, but I'm also frustrated that they won't help a loyal customer.

I’ve been taking my dog Toby to Beltsville Veterinary Hospital for four years, on the recommendation of my daughter. I’ve never regretted that decision. The staff are wonderful and their care of Toby has been faultless. I even forgot my purse once and they suggested I take Toby home and just call them back with the credit card information—no hesitation! You won’t regret choosing them to care for your pet!

I love this practice! We’ve been bringing our dogs here for decades. They are pleasant, trustworthy and informative, especially as to all options available when dealing with a particular health issue. The staff is outstanding from the front desk to the techs. Highly recommend them.

I have used this vet consistently for the last 12 years but in recent years things seem to have fallen through the cracks. I had one vet who dissuaded me repeatedly from the gold standard treatment for my cat. l had several visits describing problems that eventually sent my cat to the ER, where she was treated. I related this to the clinic and was told that my vet "assumed" I had turned down the treatment I asked for many times. I have no idea why that would be assumed. When I spoke with this vet, he stated that I should have called back on one occasion and that there nothing to be done about not having optimal treatment in the past. This is true. It also very likely shortened my cat's life and absolutely her quality of life.
EDITED to add: It turns out my cat probably has either inflammatory bowel disease or a form of lymphoma. Again, NONE of that was diagnosed during the 18+ months I took my cat there, for 5 or 6 visits. I am still awaiting a diagnosis from a vet who recognized the problem. Please don't use this vet.
