I recently bought two high end Martin guitars. The first was purchased at a box store where the staff was friendly but not particularly knowledgeable. No set up was included. The second was purchased at Music Land in Bel Air, MD. Both the sales associate and the guitar technician were very friendly and knowledgeable. They both helped me try different models and played them so I could hear the subtle differences. After the purchase, JD, the technician, did a fantastic job setting up the guitar. I also took the Martin purchased at the box store to JD and he got the action perfect. All of my future guitar purchases will be at Music Land and I adamantly trust JD to make any adjustments or repairs.

I've been to Music Land a handful of times and I've always had great experiences. They are staffed well and all of the employees are welcoming and friendly. I recently went in because one of the valves on my son's trumpet wasn't working properly. Gary L stopped what he was doing as I approached the counter and immediately greeted me and assessed the trumpet. He quickly found that an internal piece was flipped upside down so he reinstalled it and took the time to test it to ensure that it was working properly. He handed it back, smiled, and said "here you go". I was so impressed that I offered to run out and buy him a coffee and he said that I could just pay it forward. What a great guy! Gary and Music Land just earned a customer for life thanks to their knowledge and top notch customer service. I couldn't be happier with my experience!

I purchased from an ad on Reverb that included shipping, the store cancelled my order because they said they wont ship my product, I was short of their 'free shipping' minimum but was charged a shipping fee at checkout. When I contacted the store the owner was extremely rude and dismissive, stating his 53yrs of business speaks for itself. Buy from people who enjoy your business, not this place... ever. Edited note: As you can see in their response below, and further attacks in my email, linkdin, and facebook, this place isnt worth your time. Try Jeff at Sweetwater instead.

I drive 30mins out of my way to use this business because the service has been wonderful. They speak to me with respect, but not over my head. Also took the time to educate me on how to make routine adjustments to my guitar rather than try to scare me out of it. Much appreciated!!

Top notch service. My daughter's wonderful teacher Mr. Domenico recommended them for rent to own instruments and we're absolutely satisfied! Our daughter also learned from Mr. Heinly that teaches there for violin lessons and absolutely wished we've enrolled her sooner than we did. They know their craft. Superb service all around.

Great place to pick up musical instruments with the help of their employees. They also help musicians by hosting an open mic night every Thursday night from 6--8. It's a chance to play the instruments you buy there while meting other musicians.

Of the few remaining Ma and Pa landmarks here in Bel Air, Musicland is by far one of the highlights. The late Joe Noto created one of the most amazing and unique music stores of all time. A music store that was like two stores in one. Part of it was heaven for classics musicians and music teachers who needed often obscure sheet music or had to have stacks and stacks of a certain book. Joe always had their back. They could come to him with no title at all, only able to hum a short part of the melody and he would causally walk to a cabinet and hand then the right song. The other half of the store was dedicated to serving the professional and hobby musicians. Whether they needed a PA system, a drum set or a guitar, Joe had it. In fact some of the rarest hardest to find guitars in the world have passed through the doors of Musicland. The first Ibanez Chrome Boy, years of limited short run exclusive Fender’s in colors that every dealer fought hard just to get one of (Joe would have them all), or the plethora of unique expensive guitars that featured custom graphics or were special or exclusive: Joe had all of these and many more.Every musician knew Joe was closed on Sunday but if you broke a string you went there anyway and more often than not Joe would be there sitting at his desk smoking his pipe. I still associate the smell of Captain Black pipe tobacco with expensive guitars! Even though he was closed he would ALWAYS let you in and fix any musical emergency you might have then send you on your way telling you “I’ll take care of it next time” which was more often later followed by a “nah don’t worry about it.”If you have ever had the unfortunate luck to have broken your instrument then you know that Musicland is THE place to bring it. Gary has run the repair shop for (I’m estimating) nearly 40 years, maybe more! He can repair just about anything. Even those instruments that are considered lost causes. He’s been know to surprise more than a few people by bringing some back from the dead.Musicland has always had a core of dedicated people working there, many who have been there for decades and love the store as much as us long-time-customers do. Recently Larry, Joe’s son, stepped in after his father passed and added a new level of polish to the store that elevates and highlights Joe’s legacy. People like Vince, Gray, Joe’s daughter Amanda and many others through the years have spent much of their working life as part of the Musicland Family. It is a store that is run by people who love it for people who love them.Musicland is a store that is full of Joe’s personality. It dominates the store from the moment you pull in the parking lot. Joe may be gone but every time I walk in his store I KNOW he is still there, with us in spirit. To everyone in the Musicland family, we love you all!

Absolutely adore Dan for drum lessons. He has been amazing for our son to not only learn how to play the drums but also understanding music and how to read it. Our son started when he was 6, is now 8 and super confident in his skill, thanks to Dan’s patience, kindness, and talent. Thank you, Dan, for being such a pleasure for our son every week!

I walked in in hopes to buy my first guitar. The staff was friendly so there was really no pressure. I walked out with a Squier Stratocaster, still haven't put it down. Probably going to come here for my next guitar.
