I've been a zipcar member for over 5 yrs and they have become complete trash!!!! one two occasions have they taken about $160 from me outside of the booking charges. on 9/25 I rented a car. trip total $71+. I see they made two other transactions on my card. one for $81 another for $89. Luckily I use a prepaid card. I needed to extent my trip and of course I am not using another card. I called zip car because I refuse to pay the late fee, and their solution was to extend my trip and charge me later. To later be hit with a cleaning fee. (How convenient) the extention should have been complementary considering they have taken a large sum of money with no explanation. I decided to just pay the extension and cleaning fee for them to take another $81 and $89. Called customer service and they hung up on me!!!

After completing my application, my last verification step was to upload payment information. The first time I tried it gave me an upload error, and after several attempts I ended up calling customer service only for them to tell me that my account has been blocked because of the new system they're using. It's complete bs. I needed a car today, I shouldn't have to wait 24 hours because the "new" system is broken. But I won't be finishing my application because I won't use this service ever again!

After years of decline in service, Zipcar just reached a new low. The short version is: This year alone, four times I have rented Zipcars and was unable to get into the car because the key card and the app were not able to unlock the cars. I called Zipcar support, and they were also unable to unlock the cars remotely. All four times on the phone, they said they would refund my money. TWICE they did not follow up on refunding the money, so I had to re-contact them. They still haven't refunded my money for this last time, so I reported the charge on my credit card. Not only has Zipcar not taken the time to refund my money because of their own bad service, but SOMEONE TOOK THE TIME TO FIGHT MY CREDIT CARD REPORT. I can't believe that Zipcar is making me collect receipts and evidence for a $30 charge that they obviously know is not valid. Their own car was broken, I couldn't use it, and they're fighting to make me pay for it. NOPE.

This is the worst company I HAVE ever encountered. I rented a car and it had a flight tire. They did NOTHING to help me when I called to ask for support AND refused to reimburse me (charging me over $150 for this trip that was stifled by a flat tire). Instead they offered me a small amount of zipcar credit, but because that was not used within 2 months they removed it from my account. When I called to see what happened with the credit they refused to put it back onto my account. This is not the first issue I've had with zipcar. I've had many, many more. There are lots of problems with the cars and they have HORRIBLE customer service every time. I have missed important events because of another flat tire in the past. But this past incident was the last straw. If you can avoid using Zipcar, I would highly recommend doing so. They are not a customer centric business at all and seem to have policies in place that actually screw over their customers. I have been a frequent and long term user of zipcar, but NEVER again will I use their service anymore. It has caused way too many problems to be a useful service.

Today was my first time using this company I completed everything the night before all I had to do was show up for the vehicle when I showed up at 12:00 in the afternoon for the vehicle it was not there the prior driver was still using it he said he would have it back by 1 p.m. 1:30 came around and he still wasn't there. I never got a notification that the driver was still going to be in the vehicle and was running late before I got to the destination of where the car was supposed to be. After 40 minutes of waiting on hold they booked me another car I walked to it which was 30 minutes away once I got to the car the driver who had that car forgot to leave the keys in the car so you were not able to use that car they told me the other vehicle which was a Volkswagen golf was finally returned so I booked that one and walked 30 minutes back to that car the car was not in the area where we're supposed to be at I walked all up and down Boston Street and Lynnwood avenue where it was supposed to be and it wasn't there it wasn't in the designated spot it wasn't anywhere I spent an hour on the phone with the lady as she kept honking the car so that I could hear it this was the worst experience I've ever had with a company. They even asked me to check inside the garage for their vehicle because they had no idea where it was. I ended up having to cancel plans with the person I was headed to see and take a cab back home. There was absolutely zero communication from Zipcar in regards to anything but they had no problem taking my money

I have the worst experience of my life in regards to renting a car! I took an Uber to the first vehicle( grey Mazda SUV) IT WAS DISGUSTING, SMELLED LIKE SMOKE, AND HAD MAJOR BODY DAMAGE. I spoke with the representative to switch me to another car. I had to wait in the cold for another uber. I get to the next car, it too is disgusting, their once again is a smoke smell, stains on the inside, and body damage (less body damage than the the first). Pictures are attached

Back in the day i joined zipcar. It had to be around 2007. They were located in Downtown, DC where I worked. I walked over to the office in person. They were I noticed very careful in their screening process, but very very reliable in supplying excellent cars. I don't know WAHT HAPPENED. It is now 2021, I have never had any problems with Zipcar before. I went to use zipcar but it bounces me back out!!! I have not used Zipcar for over 5 years, and then before that 7 years. but I keep calling now because the engine in my car died. They keep asking me the same question, putting me on the same merry go round, saying they will get back to me in 5 business days. It's been 10. I called today, asked please for a manager. The customer service kept me on hold for 15 minutes trying to get a manager. then he said, i'm gonna transfer you to a manager after all that time, and i held on for the another 12 minutes, and then the phone just disconnected. Im so hurt. I need a car so bad. For at least 2 weeks. I HOPE THAT ZIPCAR WILL BE OKAY ONE DAY. THEY WERE A VERY GOOD AND VERY RELIABLE SERVICE BACK IN THE DAY!!!!

I used Zipcar years ago and it was great. So, with the pandemic I decided to get rid of my car and use Zipcar. They are now HORRIBLE in Baltimore. I been locked out of the cars on 2 different occasions. I've had reservations changed then cancelled after I took an Uber to the car they changed me to. Flat tires, dirty cars, pet hair, you name it. I'm now shopping for a car again. I wouldn't recommend Zipcar to my worst enemy.

I've been signed up for a year. 40% of the time, the car's keys are missing or the car won't start. Today I walked to a car missing keys, then walked to another car that wasn't even there. Customer service is good (refunds quickly)-- but you can't count on having an operable car. Make reservations an hour in advance because there's a good chance you'll need to cancel and contact Uber. That being the case, I can't think of any reason to stay with Zipcar. It's more expensive to rent a car for a full day from, say, Enterprise-- but at least you know they'll have the car you paid for.

This car service is a joke. They charged me 180 for a moving violation ticket that I didn't receive. They took that money out of my account 4 months later. I asked them why no one reached out to me about this ticket? They said I have to speak with billing..WTF. They are hustling the system because if you don't respond to a ticket ( that you didn't get because the car is not in your name) They can charge you 30 dollars extra. We all can agree that it doesn't make sense to make someone aware of a ticket when you can make money if it's not paid.

So today, Feb 17, 2021 - this was the 5th time in a row renting a Zipcar upon starting it found it was on empty, and no gas card in the car. THE 5th TIME IN A ROW, 5 DIFFERENT CARS. And the two times I put gas in and tried to get compensated as they suggest, the app and website would not let me upload the receipt. I think the only way to effect change for Zipcar is if everyone who has had a bad experience with Zipcar files an official complaint with Consumer Protection Agency. And Next time I think I'll just let it run out of gas and tell them to come pick it up - that might get them to actually change as well.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Useless customer service line. Useless, empty-minded people on the other side of that phone. They apparently they don't have a manager? Or supervisor? My problem was that I was charged but I couldn't log into my account...I was charge 2 months ago. I keep being told that my issue has been referred to some mystery IT department that apparently no one can contact directly except for the customer service line people. Still haven't heard back from them after a month of waiting...which is a lot longer of a wait than what they said it would be (5-7 business days).

I My wife and I have been members of Zipcar for several years. They have been very reliable. However, our last experience was very disappointing. The car that was rented was able to start but the transmission would not operate. A half hour was spent on the phone, on hold, waiting for assistance which was never received. The car was not used. As a result of this inconvenience a very important appointment was missed. I hope Zipcar refunds the money that was wasted on their service. DP

This company is a joke. They've been advertising "dedicated" cars since about the beginning of the year, which sounded like a great option to carshare or car ownership. Submitted an application in February, and followed up with them after not getting any confirmation despite their website stating that the whole process should take about 2 weeks. Was told that they "had no record" of my application. All said, submitted 4 applications, phoned in for application status every couple of weeks (each call was a waste of time as all they would say is they had no idea how long processing would take due to "higher than expected requests"). Now 4 months later, i get email from them that they are "discontinuing the program due to lack of cars" and would place me on a "wait list".One would think that they'd do some planning and notify people EARLY ON that they had no cars to sign out. FOUR MONTHS of b.s. is NOT OK!!!Cancelling my membership immediately..
