The Ethiopian Exhibit was particularly spectacular. And I always love the experience and that it's free to enter. The younger guy who worked at the gift shop was the best. He even looked up the name of the Rthiopoa Restaurant close by we had taken a break and gone to for lunch. I wanted to share that w other shoppers at rhe Gallery. Great museum. Grateful to live close by.

The Ethiopia at the Crossroads Exhibition ended March 3 2024. It was a wonderful experience of viewing very old religious artifacts. The display was not a large assortment but provided an excellent opportunity to see and understand Ethiopian religion history and artifacts. I highly recommend.

DisappointingIt is always a great shame when the most interesting thing in a museum is the gift shop. But, I fear, at the Walter’s Art Museum of Baltimore we appear to have arrived at exactly that dilemma. The collection within this establishment’s walls reflects much of the abject decline and poverty that surrounds it (with now even the local hostel having shuttered). There are some nice objects but, like the city itself, precious little that you haven’t seen before or would want to write home about. To remedy this situation, I recommend the museum gets its hands on a wad of regeneration cash and RELOCATES *gasps*It’d be a good idea to set up shop at the recently renovated port area, which is thriving!

I haven't been here in ages, but my mother worked here when I was a little kid. She brought me along sometimes, and my love of museums was born! The Walters is free, and there's a lot of stuff to see here. It's not all just art, in the traditional way I used to expect art museums to show. Some of the exhibits are "art-adjacent" and would contain ancient Greek and Roman housewares and coins in addition to statues and decorative arts, even more ancient temple facades and parts of the mummification process - including a cat mummy - from Egypt, and a combination gun-sword from Europe in the arms & armor section. All good stuff for kids who aren't really into art for art's sake like me.This time, we came to see the Ethiopian art exhibit, which was mostly Christian religious art. Along the way, I learned quite a bit about Ethiopia itself. So old and still independent!Anyway, the Walters is good, and free! Check it out if you're in the neighborhood, even if you don't have much time.

Beautiful and free small art museum will delight all who discover it. If you're in Washington, DC it's worth the special trip up to Baltimore to see this. The collection is comprehensive, but the building itself is also a feature. This museum reminds me a bit of the Isabella Stewart Gardner in Boston. The neighborhood immediately surrounding the museum is nice and safe.

Highly recommend visiting. It's free! They have lockers to put your stuff in that are self set. The stuff looks authentic and beautifully crafted. It's quiet and clean inside. People were respectful and kind (staff and other visitors). There were 4 levels and a second building. I thought I'd spend an hour there, but I could have spent 3 hours there. There is a great store/food area by the front lobby, too!

I enjoyed the short walk to the Walters Art Museum. It was as.most museums are, peaceful. The only thing I will say is that you always want to give your staff a standard greeting. I really don't like the familiar greetings of, hey brother or what's up big man. Much too casual for me, even if we are of the same race. Let's keep it classy.

It was great to be back at the Walters. Visited many times as a child. So much is new and exciting, and some was heartwarming, the same.
