I do not usually do reviews, but I saw leaving a review for TFA Baltimore as necessary because I do not want anyone to experience the terrible year I did with with organization.I was physically assaulted in my classroom during my first year teaching through TFA Baltimore, they refused to transfer me and basically told me I should quit teaching. Before being assaulted I asked to be transferred because the parent who physically assaulted me was verbally assisting me. They did nothing even though I complained about it often. At that point, I did not have a full teaching certification and asked for job advising. I was consistently ignored. They do not care about their teachers, they definitely do not care about Baltimore. They care about maintaining a brand. No one, especially POC, lower income folks and women, should do TFA. TFA’s goal is to prey on naive, well intentioned but misinformed college graduates to teach in abusive, toxic conditions. I was often isolated and would cry everyday due to the consistent stress between working full time and being in grad school full time. When first joined TFA, I was fortunate to not have any debt. After leaving, I have about $10k in debt due to TFA issued loans, Johns Hopkins tuition, and moving fees to Baltimore. DO NOT DO TFA, especially not in Baltimore.
