Really amazing little gem in downtown Baltimore! Loved the huge selection of books and vinyl, and the fun, eclectic decor throughout the shop. I could easily spend hours in here. Support your local bookstores yall!

Located in a converted warehouse. Hard to find if you aren't looking for it. But we were happy when we did. Nice selection of records and books. Prices were fair and customer service was friendly. Decent neighborhood and plenty of parking. Located close to the stadiums and only a few blocks from Inner Harbor.

This place is so cool, I had to dash in and out, and the owner helped me find exactly what I needed so fast, but I definitely need to come back so I can browse around and buy some more vinyl records ! Going to Protean is a whole experience you should definitely try ! 5 out of 5 stars !

So much cool stuff, huge store, great prices, the book I got was only 6$! They’ve got every sort of book you can think of, plus records, clothes, toys, games, and Knick knacks. Super friendly, great music, will definitely be back

This place was absolutely awesome in every imaginable way! It was everything that I was hoping for and more, chock full of rarities and unexpected finds amongst all the piles of used media treasure! Places like this are so few and far between anymore so I was thrilled to find this place along my roadtrip.I highly recommend stopping by if youre able to! Tons of books and records, and a decent selection of video games and movies as well!

Loved digging around through the records! Got 6 records for $50, many under $20! One of which was Deep Purple's first album for $6, they took a picture of me with it! Looking forward to coming back for more and probably picking up some books!

Protean Books & Records is a hidden gem for vintage and antique enthusiasts. The helpful staff and diverse selection of items make it a great spot. However, to reach a wider audience, an online store would be a valuable addition.

A well-kept shop with lots of records. However, the selection is pretty limited when it comes to music releases in the last four decades. The prices are also a bit high for used records. The lack of A/C made the shopping experience less pleasurable, too. Still, I give them four stars because it is a nice, friendly place.
