We went to the free after hours event and workshop they had, staff did an amazing job and were super friendly! Very well-run event with kids and adults crafting lanterns.
This was the first visit I've made it into the second building before close. They do have art from people with formal training in the second building. Some of the electronic interactive exhibits do not work.

I loved everything about this museum it was very interesting. All the exhibits were well placed and they had more exhibits than a little bit this is a very large place. I went early in the day so there wasn't many ppl so I was able to take in every exhibit the way I wanted too.. I would definitely go back again. Just aheads up there's paid street parking across from the entrance

This museum is so cool! I paid $10 for an adult ticket. They are undergoing renovation so there are some floors that aren’t available for viewing. However, the art that is on display is absolutely breathtaking in the main building you can view the basement the ground floor and the third floor as the second floor is being renovated. in the secondary building you can view about two floors of art as they are also undergoing renovations. But on your way from building one to building two are some very cool sculptures and a treehouse that you can climb into.
This place is also home to one of the most amazing gift shops I’ve ever seen in my life! The sideshow has so many trinkets and gadgets and awesome enamel pins. I personally have to go back to buy friends pins?
This is a great place for children and families . There is an elevator so it is accessible for people in a wheelchair in who use a cane.
I went on a Thursday afternoon. I did not buy tickets in advance. I bought tickets at the museum and there was no wait. I was maybe one of 10 people in the museum at the time.

This place was so much fun! I absolutely loved how unique it was compared to other museums. One of the best museum gift shops I’ve ever been to. Definitely plan on returning next time I’m in Baltimore!

This is not your normal art museum. This is an out there museum with a bunch of unique pieces of art. One of the coolest things to me was the boat made out of the toothpicks. The dedication to get that done and the time it took. I’ll be honest I’m not a huge fan of art and I wouldn’t have picked this place if it wasn’t for my wife. Even after saying that I can still say I enjoyed my time there. There is no parking so park on the public parking lot across the street.

Amazing art museum. 5 stars . Would definitely recommend for art lovers and people looking for something unique to do . This museum did not disappoint and exceeded my expectations; new artists were discovered ; I would revisit when I visit Baltimore again .The museum had a fun, eclectic gift shop with many John Waters and Divine gifts which I greatly appreciated . A gem of Baltimore

One of the rare places you can buy original art in the gift shop. We love this museum.

This was my first visit to the American Visionary Art Museum since it was refurbished. It's a quirky museum in the sense that the art works on exhibit were created by artists with no formal art school training.
The pictures I took (pictures encouraged, flash not permitted) are of quotations on display, not of the art exhibits. You really have to see this place in person to appreciate it.

This is a quirky little museum but it really stretches the limits of folk art and folk artists. Everything from the guy who built his own robot family for $39 to a holocaust survivor who tells her story through a series of truly remarkable stitch work. Some really beautiful pieces and some terrible pieces that earn their place by the story of their genesis. If you are anywhere near the Inner Harbor this is a fine way to spend a couple of hours. We give it four clams ( five Google stars)on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

I really enjoyed the American Visionary Art Museum. I wasn't sure what to expect before visiting the museum. However, this museum turned out to be one of the most interesting and fun art museums that I ever went to. The special exhibit "If you build it, they will come" was a particular highlight. The Esther N. Krinitz exhibit was also very powerful and interesting. The permanent collection and all of the artwork in the James Rouse Bldg. were also great.

This place was amazing! The exhibits were engaging, the stories behind everything were awesome, everything was super interesting. The gift shop was Absolutely incredible as well, the selection of unique things and reasonable prices made it easy to spend a couple of hours in the gift shop alone. Even if you weren’t buying anything, it was so much fun to just look around.

Interesting art pieces but the Thursday movies on the hill is great. They should extend it and have more food vendors.
