Came for the first time when I found out from a friend that they were offering a Saint Patrick's Day special: Corned beef and cabbage! I had to come, so we grabbed it to-go (this was during the COVID-19 shutdown) and took it to the park to eat a very nice, socially distanced dinner with a friend. The corned beef was really good and the cabbage was honestly better than a lot of other places I've had. What really did it for me was despite them hurting for money with the shutdown, we were greeted with hospitality and warmth. I'm going to have to come back once they're open again, so I can get the full experience of the Mount Vernon Stable!

I have been eating at My Vernon, celebrating work victories and using them to cater work holiday parties for 30 years. Excellent food, especially their ribs! Ask Laurie if she made her delicious chocolate mousse pie. It is scrumptious!

The Stable honestly doesn't look like much. The first time I was in there, I walked in assuming it was a hole-in-the-wall where we could hide from coworkers. However, after about 5 minutes there, we realized how wonderfully attentive the staff is, how good their selection of beer, cider, wine, and liquor is, and how seriously delicious the food is. We come now for work birthdays, happy hours, lunch, dinner, you name it. My personal favorite is their J*** Chicken tenders. They're spicy but a little sweet and best of all in my book, GLUTEN FREE! I feel special getting a plate of chicken tenders that I don't have to order any special kind of way because they're naturally without gluten, and not only that, but they're delicious. I'd prefer them over breaded tenders even if I didn't have to eat gluten free.

I ordered half of chicken nachos. The narcos were stale. For dinner I ordered half a rack of ribs and a baked potato with extra butter. My ribs came out cold and didn't get my extra butter I informed the waiter he told me to wait a minute which took ten minutes because he was talking to h oh s friends at the bar, then he came back for my ribs. Since Ali and Ashley left the service here has been horrible no wonder I don't come twice a week anymore.

Wow! Mount Vernon Stable... I haven't been to this spot in about 15 years and I couldn't remember why. Anyway, upon suggestion, I gave MVS a go again... The decor is exactly as I remember it - even the sarcophagus on the ceiling (my fave feature in there). It was a barren wasteland. There may have been 10 customers but I think I'm being generous in that assessment. For a Friday night, that can't be good. This place used to be PACKED every time I came. On to the grub... Steamed shrimp - AMAZING Caesar Salad - Garden salad blue cheese Onion soup - AMAZING Angry Orchard Apple J*** chicken. Never put in the order. Kept saying it was coming. Turns out the server never included it. Once another server asked him wheee my j*** chicken was, he realized his gaffe and added the order. Mind you, we were done with the soup & salads & shrimp. He comes to the table to apologize and to let me know that the beers were taken off as an apology. Fast forward - and here's where it gets even more funky... I get the chicken to go (even though they forgot to include the honey mustard sauce that comes with it). I get home to transfer the chicken into a smaller container and it is WAAAAAAY OVERCOOKED! This chicken was more like rawhide. Completely inedible. And bc of the j*** seasoning, I was even afraid to give it to the dog. So I waited for a dish I couldn't even eat. And the BEST PART of it all. I happened to look at my receipt and we were charged for the Angry Orchards after all!!! Absolutely terrible service. I couldn't remember why I stopped coming here. I knew that I loved their j*** chicken (Myyyy, how times have certainly changed), but after sub par service like this, I think my not patronizing the Stable all these years was very much earned.

Been here twice, both downstairs. Moved to the area about 4 months ago and this is one of the closest bars to me. Same bartender each time. The bartender always seems flustered and annoyed. The first time I thought maybe it was just an off night, it happens. But coming in a second time, not very busy, still flustered and unfriendly. Will likely not return.

The best thing about this place is that it serves food late! A lot of the bars in this area are really fun, but don't serve food. They have a vast menu that will satisfy any craving you might have. The portions are also quite sizeable, so you get your money's worth. The drinks aren't anything to write home about. They do have speciality cocktails which get the job done and are appropriately priced. All in all, it says it in the name. It knows what it is, and doesn't try to be hipster or trendy. Also, quick tip, they have an upstairs which is a little quieter than the downstairs if you have a big group, or don't want to be in a crowd. I will say, twice I went and had lovely service, but I had to knock a star off because once I went and the server was incredibly rude and kept walking away in the middle of us asking him a question. I don't remember his name, but I wouldn't discount this place because of one bad egg.

I came here for Sunday brunch and I was very pleased walking away. First off, I wasn't expecting a nice piece of chocolate chip banana cake before my meal which was baked to perfection and was so delicate and moist. Next, I ordered their Tex mex omelet which was very well done as they put a good amount of chili and mushrooms on it and really bursted with flavor. The potatoes were also cooked well and really had a nice texture being very crispy. I also had some of their Spanish burrito and I thought that was decent. The rice was cooked very ehhhh and I thought the scallions in it overwhelmed the taste more than supported the taste of the chorizo. The price was very fair and affordable so that wasn't an issue but for the restaurant being as not busy as it was, the food took a little longer than I expected. Waiters were very attentive however and friendly and I highly recommend this place for a Sunday brunch.

I love happy hour with 2 dollars domestic beers and comfort food. The bartenders are usually attentive and the atmosphere is friendly.

If I could this no stars I would. The customer service is TERRIBLE and the food was on the verge of rancid. I ordered the crab and corn chowder and mussels. The mussels were waayy to salty. I ate 3 spoonfuls of the soup and was left thinking this soup may have reached its peak. I spoke with the server Patrick and he was EXTREMELY rude. I asked if I get the ceasar salad instead. His response was "No you ate half the soup already" and he dismissively walked away without even talking about a solution or even saying the courtesy of "hey, unfortunately I cannot but if you would like to order the salad anyway I can put in the order." This would have been polite customer service, however after 10 o clock Patrick has decided that customer respect and service is unneccessary because they receive automatic 20% gratuity on all bills after 10pm.

went in for beers and some food. ordered multiple appetizers as it was happy hour. our waiter brought the first set of apps and upon arrival I asked if we could also add an order of the crab quesadillas. we eat and finish our appetizers and still no sign of the crab quesadillas. our server finally comes to our table and asks "did you get the crab quesadillas?" in which I respond to "yes" I figured he was asking if we were the table that ordered them when he was actually asking if they arrived at our table yet. so we order dessert and are still expecting them to come out. I finally flag him down again AFTER we finish our dessert and ask him where the quesadillas are. we realize it was miscommunication and he runs off to get them made but we were wanting to leave at that point. my friend flags him down and I tell him actually to just cancel them because i'm in a rush (nicely) he snaps back "well i'm in a rush too!" oddly rude. also acted like it was a burden to take them off my check. it's not my fault you failed to communicate as a server and make sure your table had what it needed. the restaurant was empty. why would I wait for quesadillas 40 minutes after I order them and after I finish dessert? won't be going back. better restaurants in mt vernon.
