the staff is great but the company doesnt cut lenses on site and it takes up to 3 weeks for the glasses to come from whatever place they ship from. I hate it. I'm tired of jobs being taken away from people in my community. wont ever go back to this company. sorry to the staff because like I said they are lovely
*this is an edit to say that they USED to cut lenses on site, and thats the reason I bought glasses from here. I wont buy glasses here again, but I will still come back for the eye exams because the staff is LOVELY and professional and courteous and I cant say enough good things about the local staff. It is the corporate overlords who took the edging machines away from the local staff who I hate.

We have been seeing to Dr . Shields years now and the he it the reason why we keep coming back, I cannot say that about the desk / office staff. I was told my glasses would be in two weeks because the frame were in stock. Called around two weeks to get an ETA , I was told my glasses would be in any day now . The following week called because online it said my order was moved priority, they again said my glasses would in any day. I don't ever want to be a pain but I do not live or work close to the store I was trying plan my schedule around picking up my glasses so called asking for actual ETA , this time I was told that they call I am guessing they place that does the glass and they would call my back, they never called me back . I rather called back and say it's going be another week or say they couldn't get hold someone as soon they have info on what the delay was , any info is better than none or the staff just saying any day now, It's poor customer service. If there wasn't an issue with my current glasses it wouldn't be a big deal.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated that they did not try to up sale some of the frames that they have. With that being said, I still bought a pair of the high end frames, couldn’t help it. We also liked how they were on time and we didn’t have to wait longer than our appointment time unlike other practices. Rosalyn took time to run the numbers with my insurance and explained everything I was getting and the price, very transparent. My husband and I are happy we found this place and will go back for our exams.

This review is for their appointment system. I went in for my appointment time today and they had the wrong time on their end. This is the second time this had happened to me where I’ve made an appointment, got the confirmation call the day before the appointment, I check in at the desk and they had the wrong time and their computer. Not sure where the glitch is on their end, but I wish they would get this fixed as it’s really inconvenient and frustrating.

Dr Sullivan was great, really liked working with him. However the other employees in the office are very rude. They put the wrong contacts on my invoice and over charged me for my contacts. When I go to submit my rebate for the contacts I purchased it doesn’t match the contacts I received. The young lady over the phone very rudely said she didn’t know what was going on and that she would have to call me back. As if I was bothering her with their own mistake!

Dr. Shields is very thorough and helpful; I understand exactly what is happening to my eyes and how my vision has changed. All the staff from the receptionist to the customer service reps are patient, friendly and very helpful. Make sure to call the office for an appointment - the online scheduling tool did not book my appointment even after I received confirmation.

I hope everyone of these employees goes home every night and cries themselves to sleep. I could post 100 paragraphs about how awful this place is, But seeing as my particular complaints have been echoed nearly 10 times in this review section I will venture to say that nobody gives a flying fudge. Not only did the eye doctor not focus my left eye, he tried to convince me That narcolepsy was causing my dry eye. After making me promise at least four times that I will be coming up to university of Maryland location for a sleep study, he still didn’t Focus my eye, which resulted in a pair of glasses that I couldn’t see out of. Wow, so useful. . When I called, They told me I didn’t need another eye exam (stupid) And proceeded to change my left eye back to my old prescription, which is weird because like that’s their job. I think. During the checkout process for my glasses, the woman helping me proceeded to tell me that in the past when I’ve been to that office, the man that helped me had given us discounts that he wasn’t supposed to give us and she charged me nearly $250 for a pair of glasses that should’ve been covered completely by insurance. Took my husband several hours on the phone with our insurance to get reimbursed for that, But let me tell you spending those several hours on the phone with the insurance is way better Then spending another second in this place. I decided I wouldn’t be returning for a pair of sunglasses, Because at this point, I’m not even convinced this is a licensed office, And i tried to get my prescription online so I could order some sunglasses online. Not only is my prescription not on my online account, But 10 days later… The Idiot who answers the phone is still telling me I need to login and get it online because God forbid you have to spend two minutes to type in a hecking email address to get me my prescription. That must be really hard for them… Almost as hard as focusing someones left eye I would imagine. I went round and round with their corporate IT help for TEN DAYS, I went round and round with whatever brainless human answers their phones…. The corporate IT department finally told me to just create a new login. Which obviously didn’t work because then my prescription wouldn’t be tied to my account. And finally, I was done. I had my husband handle the phone call. He was then told we had to fill out a release form for them to email me my prescription. Now this enraged me further because NO ONE mentioned a release form in the 10 times that I had asked them to email me my prescription.. not during my exam visit, my visit to fix the incorrect glasses, any of the 10 times I called about the log in, or when i picked up my glasses. Finally, my husband has Them on the phone… And literally says I am not hanging up until I get the email. We gave them two alternate email addresses because they claimed to have already sent the email. The girl on the phone had the nerve to be annoyed and say there was a “universal internet outage” THEN WHY DID YOU PRETEND TO SEND THE EMAIL !!!! I finally get the email- Of course to my original email, which magically seems to be working now- Only for it to be my old prescription. I’m honestly generally concerned for the well-being of all the patients that go to this office… I’m also concerned that there might be something in their water cooler that makes these human beings stupider than the average human being. I’m not at all concerned for them, but I hope the patients don’t drink out of it. Anyway, if a sinkhole opened up and this location along with all of the employees dropped into it- the eye health world would like rejoice. Have a blessed day. Unless you work there. The customer service and technical expertise at the Eye Dr is off the charts. This is my 3rd time that I’ve gone to that same shop and every time my experience has been exceptional. In today’s business environment, where cutting corners to make the business model succeed, even at the expense of its customers, it’s so refreshing to know that there’s still products and services that can be obtained at a great value and with a smile for the customer. Thank you Eye Doc!

From the moment I walked into the My Eye Dr Clinic/ store, I was treated with kindness and professionalism. A fantastic experience. Dr Shields and the entire staff were fantastic. Prices were super and my sales specialist was excellent! Looking forward to my new eye glasses and sunglasses.
