I had all my bridesmaids and my hair and makeup done at Jackie’s salon the morning of my wedding, and it turned out so perfectly. Everyone involved was so kind and kept everything stress-free on the day of the wedding. We looked great.

My wedding was at 11 am and this meant I had to be in the salon by 7 am. The service was great, and the makeup and hair came out amazing. I was worried about the time crunch because my sister has so much hair, but we made it out in time!
I am so happy with how my makeup and hair came out for the wedding and recommend brides go to Karly at Jackie Nunez’s Salon. <3

I can’t say enough good things. I had a stylist from another salon cancel for my wedding day. Upon a referral I called Jackie’s. She was able to get me in quickly for a trial for my special day with Carly. Not only did I love Carly and her wonderful demeanor she was able to style both myself and my maid of honor on the day I needed. She scheduled a bit of extra time just in case and we had a fabulous morning. I loved my hair, felt like a beautiful bride and received so many compliments. On a side note, I have enough hair for two people and it’s very thick, I should have been charged extra for all of the bobby pins it took to tame my main. Staff I interacted with are talented and respectful. The same is not true of the owner, Jackie, which is why I am leaving a 1 star review.
To make a long story short, Jackie apparently thought she required me to have both my hair and makeup done in order for one of her stylists to come to the salon on a Saturday. This was not once relayed to me. Instead, I was told that I would be paying a higher price than usual for hair and/or makeup to have a stylist available at the salon on a Saturday, and I agreed to this marked up price. Multiple times I mentioned that I wanted my makeup done and was less sure about hair since this was simply for outdoor family photos.
I ended up paying $174 for makeup, after which Jackie called the salon and asked to speak to me. This was the first time I had ever spoken to Jackie. She condescendingly lectured me for not getting my hair done too, adding it was not worth it for just makeup, after I explained to her that I was never informed that I was required to get both services. Instead of believing me or treating me with any decency, she went on a tirade. I ended up leaving the salon, thanking the artist as I was happy with her work and did not want her to feel distressed, but I was in total disbelief over how I was just treated by Jackie to the point I was shaking.
I do not place blame or criticism on the person who booked me or the artist. However, any half-way decent business owner would have the common sense to work this out with staff versus harassing paying customers.
My response to Jackie's response below: Jackie is being untruthful. It was never once mentioned that I had to get both hair and makeup done. It's odd that Jackie is certain of this yet she never talked to me before, and she even admitted over the phone she had been away. Also, I never used the term "jacked up." I said "marked up" above.
Please read between the lines--see how Jackie responds to negative reviews. Her responses are clearly unprofessional (e.g., changing my words to sound rude and flamboyant; accusing customers of lying; lying herself by denying that the price I paid was marked up; making hasty assumptions; calling customers "strangers," etc.).
I have no reason to lie. I have no skin in the game. It was such an awful exchange that I felt compelled to leave a review.
Response to Jackie's edit: I did make edits to condense my review so I had space to respond to Jackie's response (as there is a character limit). I deleted what Jackie said to me verbatim and summed it up. I never insulted hair stylists or makeup artists. I wish I was skilled in that way.
More notably, I did not even know Jackie belongs to a minority group. Her making this false accusation (that I insulted her as a minority business person) only hurts progress towards equality. These false allegations, which I believe are rare in general, only fuels bigoted people into believing discrimination no longer exists. Jackie lacks scruples.
Further, I just noticed that Jackie added that it was the stylist's day off--not true. I had to meet at 9 AM in order for the stylist to make it to another event, where she was doing hair/makeup. Another reason I thought not having my hair done was not a big deal. I hope her employees are reading this because they will see 1) Jackie lying about the marked up price, 2) Jackie lying that it was the stylist's day off, and 3) Jackie lying that she required me to get both hair and makeup done.

Today I had a consult with Jackie regarding my baldness related to chemotherapy. I had made the mistake of just going to store that sold wigs and bought two for the style and was told that they could be colored to match my usual color. Quickly found out that that was not true, the stylists I consulted were reluctant to attempt to color for fear of color not taking and especially because the color of the wigs was dark and I wanted to go lighter. I should have been told that wasn't a reasonable expectation.Jackie who is obviously knowledgeable as she has clients who suffer from alopecia educated me as to types of wigs and based on my situation what a good choice would be for me. She measured my head, brought out catalogues and hair color strand samples and spent time working with me to find a good option for what i needed a wig for. I can't be more pleased with the consult and advice. I am very grateful to Jackie for her patience and education. I highly recommend this salon and in particular Jackie.

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review. Jackie has taken care of my hair for 10 years. I have foil highlights and my hair looks great! I have recommended her to friends and strangers who compliment me and ask where I go. Her salon is welcoming and comfortable. Everyone I have ever worked with has been so friendly! Don't hesitate to book at this salon. You will love the results!Services: Haircut

Jackie’s team did a fantastic job with my hair and makeup. Julyea and Karly worked well together to get my 3 bridesmaids, 2 mothers and myself ready for our wedding and everyone looked beautiful. Each of them were receptive to comments and feedback as they did our hair and makeup and were able to style a variety of looks to meet each person’s vision. Both our hair and makeup lasted throughout the ceremony and reception to make for great photos all evening long.Services: Hairstyling
