I can’t possibly say enough wonderful things about this place! It’s at least a 45 min drive from where we live, but we’ll never go anywhere else. Our dog just had her second surgery there and although we missed her dearly that night, we slept fine knowing she was in the very best hands. They call frequently to give updates (the surgeon even called before and after surgery to tell us how she was doing!!) The rest of the staff is equally amazing and you can call anytime for questions, concerns, or just to see how your pet is doing! Our rescue doggy (Angel) means the world to us, and I promise I wouldn’t write such a long message if they were just mediocre. They are, in fact, the best!

We were so impressed with Dr Leasure at VOSM! We had a phone consultation with him since we live five and a half hours away. The reception and scheduling staff was so kind and helpful when I was sending over all of Chase’s medical records. Dr Leasure reviewed all of Chase’s information thoroughly and spent an hour on the phone with us explaining everything (even though Chase didn’t even need surgery right now)! He went into as much detail as we wanted and answered every one of our questions with great patience and empathy. Thank God our pup didn’t need surgery at this point but we are absolutely going to stick with Dr Leasure and VOSM for Chase’s follow up appointment. We are so thankful for their extensive knowledge, experience and attention to detail.

This is going to be a long but honest review. Initially, Dr. Canapp made us feel VOSM was the best choice and would yield the best result and outcome for our dog who needed bilateral hock OCD surgery. We knew there was always a possibility that further treatment could be needed, it was never expected that Diesel would be worse off after surgery. We were led to believe Diesel would have significant improvement with surgery. Unfortunately, that was not the case, but more so the continuity of care and any explanation of what was going on was not provided, amongst other mistakes starting with drop off day. On Sept 5, we dropped off Diesel for surgery, they stated we would receive a call before and after Diesel’s surgery. I also had a few questions they could not answer. They stated they would find out the answers and let me know in the phone call before surgery. This did not happen. I received a phone call at 4:20 after her surgery, stating everything went well, but upon exploration, the right hock was more severely affected. During pick-up, an individual went over discharge instructions with us, emphasizing the importance of Diesel’s bandages and keeping them dry. They brought Diesel out to us with NO bandages! We followed the recommendations/discharge instructions along with recommended supplements during Diesel’s recovery and also completed weekly PT sessions at VOSM. Diesel had post-surgical rechecks at 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks (each time she had a recheck, I was told I would receive a call going over Diesel’s progression and notes), this NEVER happened. After calling in and asking for a phone call I did receive a call from one of the Doctors. They could not go over the recheck because the notes were not completed yet (this was over a week after her recheck). In fact, PT that week was unsure what to do with Diesel as well, because there were no progress notes. Throughout recovery, her right hind leg continued to show significant lameness. At her last recheck, they recommended a trial they are conducting that would involve Librela injections for Diesel. It wasn’t that we were not open to this idea, we just wanted more of an explanation of what was going on with Diesel's progression and prognosis (5 months post-op). When asking to speak with Dr. Canapp, we were told we would need to schedule a consult (yes, that would be another $400 charge just to talk with the surgeon to get more of an explanation of what is going on with Diesel). I ended up asking for Diesel's medical charts and received a call from another provider/doctor, who read off the notes/suggestions word for word. When explaining our dog is showing significant and more severe right hind lameness post-operatively than she was before surgery, he paused for a moment, said oh and then continued going over the recheck notes. I am simply frustrated with the continuity of care post-op or more so, the lack of follow-up, compassion, and explanation for Diesel's situation. Here we are 6 months after our last appointment and spending 5 months consistently visiting VOSM, and not even a call to check on Diesel to see how she has been doing. It felt as if once payment was received for Diesel's surgery, there was no care to her follow up. Lastly, they charged us for blood work Diesel did not even have completed at one of her re-checks (yes they did refund me for this) after I noticed and called in to ask why I was charged for blood work. I DO NOT recommend VOSM. I have included a photo of Diesel’s Pre and Post-op gait analysis that shows she is weight-bearing on her front limbs more after surgery then before.

VOSM - this tme Dr C Rohan and her team - has taken really great care of Mr Big Big and me. They've been really great at replying to my questions and adapting to my scheduling needs. I am particularly grateful about that as I know people come from everywhere in North America to be treated @ VOSM!
The fact that Big Big was so happy to go see the technician and to go "to the back" - even after I'd had to leave him for the day the last time we went - speaks VOLUMES!
Big Big's predecessors, Zsa Zsa and Willow, also received excellent and expert care there from Drs Lotsikas and Leasure. We're happy!

We had a great experience here. Our primary vet had diagnosed our working K-9 (Belgian Malinois) with possible hip dysplasia. After hearing this and expecting the worst, we met with Dr. Leisure, who after a hands-on exam and review of our x-rays, he assured us that this is a muscle issue and not hip dysplasia.
This was a huge game changer as we thought her Search & Rescue days may be done, but now we only need rehab and a few months down time. Well worth the two hour drive.

This place is so fantastic, I can’t encapsulate all the good things in just one review. I have seen Dr. Leasure several times now over the years. He performed bilateral TPLO surgeries on my Malinois with great success.
Most recently, I had to take my other dog in for what I thought was an CCL tear and it turned out to be a pulled muscle requiring rest. Both he and his staff were absolutely lovely to work with and they put my mind at ease. They accommodated my dog’s stress at being there and were equally knowledgeable and caring during our visit. We are lucky to have such a fabulous facility of this nature in the DMV area. Even if it was a four hour round trip for me, it was well-worth it and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Thank you guys for being such a wonderful, compassionate orthopedic practice!

Amazing. I had a great experience with Dr. Leasure helping my dog with her CCL tear. It was an 8 month healing process and after she healed, she tore her other CCL!!! Doctor Leasure was there once again to help! They provide you with easy instructions and the staff always tries their best to explain information in a professional way. My dog is doing SO much better now thanks to this team.

Doctor was great, but there is no communication in this office. They used to be great, but since they were sold and under new management, I would highly recommend avoiding this place. They do not listen to their clients, and even after speaking to the manager and explaining all of the issues I was having, and she agreed and was apologetic, I never heard back, reached out again and explained everything all over again to a new manager, and again, I never heard back. Their customer service is horrendous now. Also, as a bonus, even though I explicitly stated not to put my dog in a kennel run and that she needed to be in a crate, they put her in a run (even though their own care instructions had her on crate rest in prep for a supraspinatus surgery), so when I picked her up, she had a huge laceration and incision on her back leg with 16 staples, which was not even the limb she was there to have surgery on. AVOID THIS PLACE!

The consult went well and I was impressed with Dr Canapp. Then came surgery day and an month+ of disasters. Dropped her off at 7am. At 3pm got a call for unknown skin infection so they sent her home with meds (2 hour drive each way). Rescheduled after allergies cleared up and she came back for double stem and PRP on both CCLs. Was handed paperwork to sign that had DRASTICALLY different surgery things listed and totally different amounts. Was told it’s fine…just to sign it. Politely declined since it’s a legally binding document and I had no idea what these costs/descriptions were. Front desk lady talked to someone in the back who said they would just use the paperwork I had signed on her initial surgery day. Asked the Dr call and confirm what surgery was happening before it started (they kindly did). Discharge day got paperwork with another dog’s name in it. Ok…no biggie…it’s just a template. Got home and meds listed and what I received didn’t line up. Called and was told it was a typo. Ummm ok? She came home with casts on both legs but somehow her good knee was clicking which it never did before surgery. Called and expressed concern. Was told it’s fine. Called a couple other times…usually no returned call and I had to keep calling back. Post op check up appointment said ultrasound. Called to schedule and cannot do a drop off since I’m 2 hours away so I was told to call back and speak with scheduler lady. She said the paperwork is wrong and she only needed a checkup. At this point idk if anything is right in this paperwork but it’s 6 weeks out now. Still clicking in her knee at check-in appointment and expressed concern again. Doc didn’t even mention it. Said she was fine and out we went.
Never. Again. (Btw…her good knee is still clicking and she is still limping at 4
months out after months of PT. I guess we will be finding a different doctor. $13k down the drain).

Awesome team, very professional and helpful. My dog got a PTLO and something else. The doctors were great explaining very good the procedure and sending you home with plenty instructions on how to help your pup recover and home therapy.
Overall highly recommended

Our dog had the TPLO procedure here in 2023 and had an amazing experience. The first two weeks are definitely tough and time consuming for both the dog and dog parents, but the results are amazing and so worth it! Our dog is back walking, running, and playing like his happy self before his CCL tear and we’re so happy to see that the recovery paid off.’The after hours staff were very accommodating in our many phone calls to check in on our boy. Thank you so much VOSM team!
