I have a small lily pond in my back yard. It was built to look completely natural with a small waterfall and stream. I bought the materials to build this pond from Lilypons Water Gardens and have patronized them for the past 14 years (+) for Water Lilies, snails, tadpoles and shubunkin fish. This lily pond has become a treasured component of my yard and I recently renewed it with new lilies etc. Then, the pump for my falls and stream failed. I called the company and was very kindly referred to Richard Koogle who eased my anxiety (I didn't want to stress the fish and other creatures in the pond) and helped me replace my water source. For any aspect of water gardening I highly recommend Lilypons Water Gardens.

After a heron got most of our pretty fish, it was tough to replace them since our local pond shop closed in Gettysburg a while ago, so we were stuck with meh-colored fish. After a trip to Frederick, we were walking the canal and stumbled upon kind volunteers and they recommended Lilypons! Lilypons employees were accommodating and made plant suggestions. We bought a few koi and gold fish and were so thankful to find them. We will be back!!!

Great place to find all of your pond needs. They walk you through and address your concerns over your individual pond requirements. They were wide variety of equipment, fish, and even tadpoles. Their water plant selection is excellent. Very accommodating staff.

The go-to place to get water lilies. Too bad it’s so far out. I used to get my water lilies at the old Behnkes on Route One in College Park, which is long since closed. Lilypons has a wide variety of fish, which are way too high-end for me. For instance 100+ dollar koi . I buy water lilies there. But they did a real service for me recently. I had, on a wild impulse, purchased a $275 pond filter. It turns out it was totally inappropriate for my backyard pond needs. It would’ve required a larger pump than I have, separately purchased hoses and tubes, separately purchased hose clamps, etc. Although I was outside of their 10 day return period, Lilypons, in the name of a lady named Margaret - who appears to be an owner - allowed me to return it minus a 25% restocking fee. All in all not a bad deal. Unless you live near Buckeystown, Adamstown or in the far corners of Montgomery County, or nearby Frederick, this is a long way to go. But they have a lot of lillies, water plants, and ornamental fish.

Please don't buy water lilies or any plants from here. I did that and the plants had flukes in them. The parasites infected my pond and killed 5 or 6 of my fish. They don't keep their plants clean and they have wild fish in their plant ponds. It was a stressful summer. Never had any other health problems with my fish like this before I introduced the water lily. Don't buy plants from here unless you want to deal with parasites and dying pets :'( .As for parasite treatment, they sell Broad Spectrum, which is malachite green/formalin-based, which is common in the industry but is unhealthy for your pond, as a carcinogenic medication. Don't use formalin-based medicine on your pond. MinnFinn is a far safer medication, you can buy it at Vienna Aquarium & Pets in Leesburg VA. Be aggressive with your MinnFinn, do the max amount of treatments listed on the bottle for your particular parasite, following the instructions. Pond Salt is also great and can be used in combination with minnfinn.Fish selection and equipment is good though, but be careful and examine their stock closely for signs of disease. I've bought several fish from them and they haven't had any health problems from the fish themselves, only from the plants. I've been able to keep two goldfish from here alive for around 2 years so far, so they're better than pet store goldfish.Still a good business but please don't buy plants kept outdoors that animals have access to. recipe for disease.Keyword: pond fish water lily disease parasite water plant medicine
