Phoned ahead to clarify discount for the sustainability initiative , but when I got to store , I couldn’t have the discount because it only applied to bulk food and not pre packaged food. When I mentioned to the manager she shouldn’t have assumed I meant bulk, food , when I was asking on the phone about the requirements , and she should have clarified better, especially as I mentioned I was hearing impaired . Her response was , you shouldn’t have assumed you could get discount on pre packaged food . Not sure how she thought I would know that if she didn’t tell me . Yikes , that’s good customer service , from a manager , to a senior with disabilities This was at the portage avenue store in Winnipeg.

I had a horrible experience here today. I am a Canadian citizen of Filipino descent who is 8 months pregnant. I went with my mom, who was getting baking supplies for my nephew's upcoming second birthday party. While browsing the aisles, I was approached by two male staff members who inquired if I required assistance. I politely declined, indicating that I was content and simply waiting for my mom to complete her shopping.
However, one of the older male staff members insisted on offering assistance, despite my repeated polite refusals. He then abruptly instructed me to wait by the front doors. I felt deeply discriminated against by this treatment.
I am puzzled as to why I was singled out and asked to wait by the front doors, while other customers were allowed to browse freely without any interference. This incident has left me deeply disappointed and questioning the store's policies and treatment of customers. Did he assume a pregnant woman would steal a handful of candy and run out the store? If I looked different, would he have done the same? I need answers.
I emailed Bulk Barn's customer service and they said this branch is independently franchised. Based on other reviews, this is not the first time something like this has happened with the same male staff. How disappointing!!

Rude staff and manager. Recommend going to a different balk barn. Manager was snappy after asking a question. Asked him to talk quieter. Then Raised his voice even louder. Then hang up on me. I almost started crying from how rude they all were and I am not a person who cries alot. Hope they either get a new manager or close down at this point.

Went there a few times now and it has always been a pleasant experience. Staffs are always helpful and try to be as fast as they can. Store is clean and welcoming, and the selections are insane. Price is also very reasonable, as you can bring your own jar on Sunday for 15% discount. There were some baking ingredients that I could not find in big box store and I wish I had checked this place out sooner.

I’ve been to this location several times now. I will keep coming back. This is a well organized store. The employee(s) take pride in their job and workplace. It is immaculately clean and tidy store. I’m always promptly greeted as I enter the store. When asked if I need help finding anything, it is always polite. I absolutely enjoy their English Breakfast tea. (Loose tea). It is always a pleasant shopping experience.

There's a guy that works here that makes clientele feel very uncomfortable. Looks to be 50ish. He is quite rude and accusatory. The other day I saw him following a senior, scowling and telling her she had to pay for what she was grabbing.... there wasn't anything indicating she would not. I've seen him act this way towards numerous customers. He's going to single handedly drive this place out of business. I understand there is a lot of theft there. I used to manage a store next to bulk Barn. It was something we dealt with, but we dealt with it tactfully. Perhaps it's time for more training. Unfortunately this guy might be an owner. If that's the case, yikes. Best of luck
