Very disappointed. Curtains in the room did not cover the slider. We were on the first floor by the entry and stairs, so everyone had to walk by our room. Definitely dampened our experience and the sunlight woke us at the literal crack of Dawn.

We went for a family wedding. The initial reservation was made in January/February for an October ceremony. They never sent a confirmation email, however my card was charged. One month out when we checked on everything we were told that we only booked one night, the night before the wedding. 100% capacity & placed on the waiting list. Heard family somehow switched rooms, but nothing available for us? Poor look for a high end hotel with a spectacular view. They refunded but were rather unapologetic. The lesson - demand a confirmation email upon booking. ***UPDATE*** Read other reviews to see that lack of accountability appears to be a common thread for this establishment.

It’s Ok…def not luxury. This place is extremely overpriced with the amount of amenities they do not offer and how dated the rooms are, not worth it. Not to mention if you try calling them to book they WILL NOT answer. Apparently their reservation line is the same line as the take out line….I’ve stayed in hotels in Maine this one I would not recommend especially given the price point. The beds were extremely springy (not comfortable), the air conditioner is a window unit even on first floor, there are yellow jackets everywhere not a just a couple, to the point where it was uncomfortable to be outside/annoying idk I guess you can say I’m picky but at $379 a night they have to upgrade something. I also stayed in the Annex so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much but the main hotel was not much nicer. The only rooms I found to be nice were the suites above the reception hall. If you’re just trying to walk around and be close to the shops/beach the location is great. I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing view except from the suites on the corner rooms.Walkability: Everything is within walking distance (mostly)

Lovely coastal hotel in a great location. Grill & bar has a friendly atmosphere with great food. Serves a really nice breakfast from the a la carte menuWalkability: Close to the town and local shops and restaurants.

Location was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms could be brought more up to date and the A/C able to create a more comfortable environment. Old shower head and generally older.

Beautiful views of the ocean. Safe and quiet location. Comfortable rooms. So much to see and do within walking distance. We liked the convenience of the restaurants in the hotel.

The bed is very comfortable and the view from our room on the first floor of the annex building was lovely. There were some water damaged ceiling tiles in the bathroom that make impossible to rate the room 5 stars. The carpet seemed kind of older, too. With some small improvements, this room would be 5 star worthy.

This used to be our favorite hotel, however, that has all changed with new ownership. Visited in June for an Anniversary get away where we were met by the valet who was too busy on his cell phone to properly greet us. The front desk was staffed with 2 young men dressed in hoodies and lacking any proper hospitality skills. A rain storm and wind resulted in the exterior door of our $400/night room to bang all night long. After a sleepless night, we awoke to find out that the distracted Valet failed to secure our new car by leaving the sunroof opened during the rain storm. Ended up with a flooded car and thousands of dollars in damages! We have attempted to contact the hotel manager by email, phone, and through a letter. There has been absolutely no response! Needless to say, this is no longer our favorite hotel.

I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else when I visit York Beach (and I try to every year)! The location is fantastic, the view is too awesome for words! Even though it's just a few steps away from the beach, the atmosphere is elegant and relaxing. Already booked my stay for 2024!

Darlene and the entire Union Bluff team were nothing but an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding on July 15, 2023. The team was so responsive, helpful, friendly, and really helped us every step of the way with advice and constant communication. We couldn't have asked for a better coordinating team. The venue itself is incredible, you can't beat being right on the water, the food and drinks were exactly what we were looking for, and our vision was able to come together perfectly for our big day. We were able to have just about all of our guests stay onsite at the hotel, and everyone was so happy with their rooms, as were our closest family members that stayed in the suites above the meetinghouse. We also had our rehearsal dinner onsite at the Grill, and Kim was so easy to work with, and easily able to accommodate our larger party the night before our big day. I am so thankful we chose Union Bluff and could not recommend it more!

Visited for 3 days during week of 9/5. When we arrived note on the front door stated the restaurant and pub would be closed for 2 full days due to electrical upgrade. Since it's after Labor Day most of the local dining places were closed. We booked a full service hotel, paid the full rate and at checkout they said "well it was posted on social media and the front door." I don't check social media for hotel info. I felt they could have cared less. Probably not returning again.

I had great memories of Union Bluff as a kid so I was really excited to now take my two children to York this summer. Unfortunately, we will not be staying here again. We booked through Travelocity and we were charged more than we agreed to during booking. According to Travelocity this was a "miscommunication" between them and the hotel. However, neither of them took responsibility for this and made us cover their mistake. As others have mentioned the view and location are great, especially with kids. It was easy for us to go back and forth to the beach/shops to work around nap time. Not having to get the kids into the car wet and sandy from the beach was nice. We stayed in the annex rooms. I wasn't expecting a luxury stay by any means but the tub was cracked in multiple places, the ceiling tiles in the bathroom were crooked revealing wires, and they were stained brown, the carpet was also stained and dirty. For the prices they charge this place needs some serious updating. It was disappointing and we will not be back!

I stopped for lunch which was very good. Didn't wait long for food...generous portion, and we had excellent service. I have stayed over several other x and it was clean + quiet?.

5 star view and location but everything else is 2 stars. The front desk staff did not make us feel welcome when we checked in. We had a nice size room with a big deck but not the cleanest, dried toothpaste still on the bathroom sink and the ceiling paint is chipping off. The restaurant has gone down hill. The food was either cold or dry. We ate there once for dinner and didn’t go back again.It’s a shame because there are not many options to stay at Short Sands unless you rent a house.

This place has gone down hill and it's so disappointing. Such a different feel. It use to be my favorite place, especially since I got married here. My husband and family would sometimes stop in for breakfast. The last time we went we waited in the lobby for 15 minutes. Staff never acknowledged us. Finally a guest told us they only serve breakfast to guests now. He went on to say that we were better off going somewhere else anyways. Friends of mine have recently stayed here and said it's not like it use to be. Overall, very disappointing. Union Bluff use to be top notch!!!!!
