Truly the best boatyard experience I have had. My wife and I did an extensive refit on our boat and lived in the yard on the hard for over 2 months. RRBY is a family owned and operated business, which Andy (and his father Allen) have poured their lives into making a mainstay of Yarmouth, Maine. The staff are highly knowledgeable and skilled, and are genuinely wonderful people especially Geoff, Dave, Matt, Noah, Kyle, Amanda and Janet, all here to cater to commercial boaters as well as pleasure craft - and do it with a smile. If you are a sailor or power boater and want to feel welcomed like family to a yard that will treat your boat like their own, Royal River is a no brainer.

Great boatyard. Understaffed like everywhere right now but getting the job done well. Kudos to you, and thank you for the personalized service. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and a boatyard that is willing to provide as much or little support as needed

Very friendly folks each time I deal with them. They're swamped like all other boat dealers but haven't forgotten customer courtesy.

It brings me a great deal of sadness, and a loss of hope for today’s younger generation that now own and manage such a long time essential business that their forefathers built hand in hand with the often struggling commercial fishing and inshore lobster fishing community ,,from islands like where I was raised and mainlanders working together towards a common goal.there are no stains left to tell the story of the long backbreaking days and nights that were suffered by they’re very close family members and friends to build the beautiful thriving business that you see now, and the personal sacrifices each make, ever steady and never once showed the pain or complained because they were genuinely fueled by the same selfless drive, that pains me to admit was all but lost on the true loyalty and determination and helpful nature of the dwindling WW11 era men and women who fought through living hell in our country’s darkest years with the same honorable goals to do it so that the next generation wouldn’t have to know how long and hard that they had to suffer so that they would never have to know what kind of hell they endured since the first cradles and rails were purchased surplus or even acquired in less than honorable ways at times out of necessity and told to me in a gleaming nostalgic recollection of his young years growing up on that once dingy mud hole, as he was appreciating humbled and modestly acknowledging the risk and sacrifice that built Royal River from a mud bank and nothing else.. today there were only 4 commercial boats hauled out in the yard, and I was there for a few and captain who is a little bit more over stretched financially with 3 boats and a mortgage and a beautiful family that is what drive us commercial types to succeed, because most of the lobsterman around here are only 1 poorly timed blown engine away from losing everything that they had built their whole lives with every movement that they made from sun up to beyond sun down risking more and more with the regulations ebbing and waining as fast as the tides it would seem that they were awaiting failure but they didn’t know what quitting was and would never even let it cross their minds because they didn’t want they’re children to even have an inkling of what a life of hell they survived to ensure their own children never had to. This very same boat yard rallied together all day and night together to build a new boat for a well known locally based lobsterman after losing his large young families only source of income and thy did it in record time and I was happy to see 2,of his family boats there. It’s no secret that they have been evolving into a more high end establishment, because(A) I was the only person who had a vehicle under a small mortgage on a palatial mansion and I have over 20 years experience in each and every aspect of the boat repair and preparation especially for commercial use and I am, in deed guilty of violating the unspoken dress code that has been filtered into effect over the past years and the majority of the customers there have little to no knowledge about engines and shaft alignment, let alone would be caught dead in the clothes that I wear to rags when I’m engaged in serious time sensitive repairs that have no margin for error financially and in the safety of the brave men and woman who call these constantly pitching and rolling work platform that has struck many of us in so many ways and we just have to saddle up and get it done. I had a poorly timed vehicle malfunction and was multi tasking and getting everything handled but because I don’t wear my polo and boat shoes when I’m alone under a 20 ton boat in the heat because I was just getting things done for my friend when he was busy on the water trying to feed he and his stern mans family . I was working hard alone and quite dirty and I was sneakily welcomed then the police arrived based upon looks alone and in 20 minutes after work I don’t dress far form the same people that treated me with less than no respect and that goes against the very roots and foundations.

As usual Bobby and crew got my sailboat launched quickly and smoothly several weeks ago. I have been a client for 20 years and have always been impressed with RRBY's competent staff!

Great for all boats, big and small! I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received when I repowered my little boat. The cost was reasonable, the work was prompt, and I was constantly updated. I was treated like I had a large yacht and not a small fishing boat - an experience quite different than I received from the boat manufacturer's authorized dealer.

Alan the owner is a great guy- went out of his way to help our family with our boat in a really tough wind last weekend-came right out and helped us get to a dock when one of our engines when down- and not his dock- just a great neighbor helping someone out.
