“The staff here are absolutely amazing. I came in with questions and concerns and recommendations from others about fixing a food issue that we inherited when we were gifted our bernadoodle, Moe. They were knowledgeable, kind, and no-nonsense. As a first time dog owner I could not have felt more at ease and there was no judgment for my inexperience. Thrilled to have been referred to them and I can’t wait to sing their praises to our pet-owning friends. Already we are seeing an improvement in eating and it’s only been a day!”

“Knowledgeable and friendly staff who really care about all the animals in their store and helping customers learn and grow. We have utilized the store for years for fishkeeping and have had so many wonderful experiences there.”

“Great place to wash my 70 lb GSD. Friendly staff, several wash tubs and groomers are available. Cost is by size, so $20 for my pup. Ten washes gets you a free wash. Great selection of pet food, treats and toys as well. Patronize a local business!”

“This place is amazing and the owners are so friendly. We seen some kids come in with pizza trying to cause a ruckus and they were super nice to them only to have these kids be jerks to them… entitled people are insane.”

“Laura is not only helpful but a delight to talk to. So happy to have found Irish rasher bacon and black and white puddings for an Irish breakfast fix away from Ireland. For any of those of you looking for kooky and classy objets then you’ve found the place. Can’t recommend the place enough!”

“Quincy is amazing-beyond an excellent employee and best asset you have. He is doing a service above and beyond that by truly having the genuine care and concern and ability to listen and respond with valid helpful knowledge and advice and info. Seriously, if there was a Quincy in each pet store and even veterinarians office and shelter, our domestic animal friends would be so much better off, because he really cares and helps people and their pets. I’ve dealt with hundred of fake answers and make attempts at helping before in many different kinds of stores over my life. He is the opposite of that. He also reads people- he can catch a vibe of someone wanting alone shopping time or what not-if the person wants hemp or not and how much hemp. They’ll get it if they are lucky enough to have him there that day. He is never pushy-can tell if someone wants to just ponder alone about a decision regarding a purchase or if they could use any help-he doesn’t push his opinion or any products like someone did at the Scarborough store more than once. He is quietly friendly. He’s very intelligent and seems intuitive in that way. He only offers valid truly helpful info and will listen- it’s a rare thing these days to actually have someone listen and truly be heard by another with a genuinely caring concerned ear and a mind & heart to really help. He allows space-space for customers to think and shop and space and as much time the customer wants or needs to talk with the customer who are wondering about anything regarding pets and products for pets. He allows as much time as someone needs to feel completely sure. There is no better help anywhere. South Portland store, you should make him the manager!!! Have him get paid to train everyone there. He also always remembers people and the pets who visit the store. He is absolutely amazing. A truly honest to goodness good kindhearted helpful human being. He seemed happy for me to discover the dog food sale yesterday. He is aware that I foster dogs and pay for it all and am not a wealthy person. I also have two rescues when on the couch. He remembers my old dogs who both died last summer and was sympathetic to hear of their passing but happy to see me with a new dog and foster dogs. The one photo shows all the bags of food I got for just over $50.00 yesterday/all high quality kibbles. The couch photo is my two rescue dogs. The other photos are foster dogs/one I had recently and two more on the way within two weeks. ❤️”

“A fantastic pet store with knowledgable staff and a diverse range of toys, gear, and treats. If my dog ever goes missing—god forbid—I'll walk over to Fish & Bone to see if he's waiting outside.”

“Mike was able to fit my dog in the day after I called. He didn't try to upsell me or do anything that wasn't needed, and he was done in about an hour and a half. $37 for everything except a haircut (and he doesn't do teeth brushing) can't be beat!Edit: A little too much Thin Blue Line merch for my liking, decided to stop coming here”

“My daughter and I stopped here well out for a ride. I didn't think a 11-year-old would find too much to look at here, but there is a lot to see. She really enjoyed some of the garden trinkets. It was her idea to stop. So I guess something in the yard that is on display caught her eye. Outside. They have these counterweight, eagles and other birds. They're like large lawn display things that move like real animals.I noticed they have a pretty good selection of dog related things. There's an entire corner room of the store just for dogs. There's another corner room for horse.I ended up buying one of those digital thermometers for my shop. I'm not sure if I needed it but I have been keeping my eye out for one that was both affordable and with fit in the spot where I want to put it.There are a couple people working the counter. They both seem to know exactly what was going on as far as when shipments were coming in and going as they spoke with other customers. I had no such questions.”

“What an incredibly funky business with the largest supply of pet & livestock supplies I've ever seen in one place. This is certainly not a slick franchise operation. They've been there for decades so the staff is not only super friendly but knowledgeable. Bring the kids because they usually have live chicks & bunnies for sale right outside the entrance..”

“Very cute spot with creative pet toys and several adoptions for jackets etc.

We were looking for royal or primal food-didn’t carry them. And didn’t have a huge selection of cat litter (not sure if it’s a back order thing or not).”

“Paws applause is the BEST dog grooming service I have ever had!! The help and groomers are above average people. I have been using their facility for years. Their expertise in grooming is a 10+. I am so glad I found”

“My Mal-Shi is four months old and very playful (squirmy) and attached to me. I was concerned that the groomer would be unable to deal with him. Danielle did and outstanding job on him! He looks, feels and smells great. The price was extremely reasonable! I will be taking Bentley on a regular basis to see Danielle. The entire staff was great .”

“We went in looking to see hermit crabs and found a staff member who was super knowledgeable about hermit crabs. She was a wealth of information that was so helpful to learn.”

“They had absolutely lovely staff in, and were very knowledgeable about their fish and other animals. The tanks were all very clean and everything looked amazing, it's always nice to see good petstores in the age of not so many. Every animal seemed to be joyous, and that warmed my heart. The gerbils had mesh top tanks which is a nice thing to see when they are usually held in glass boxes(at other stores).”
