A very cool antique toy museum. Its by appointment only but owner run and very welcoming. I was surprised by how many more recent toys there where as well. Most where from the 50-60s but there where a surprising number of antiques toys all the way up to the 90s.

Amazing collection- so much that we definitely missed things! The owner was super friendly and an amazing guide: knew so much and very flexible with my family’s timing. She was super understanding of the kiddos and answered all our questions with facts and personal anecdotes. The museum fee is amazing considering the personalized tour and details!!! Thanks for an amazing experience!!

For years we drove by Fawcett's not realizing this is much more than a toy store. I am kicking myself for not stopping by sooner. There are concentrated features here -- such as Popeye, Star Wars, Lone Ranger and (early, uncommercial) Disney. You'll find many other familiar pop characters and creations jammed in this house -- something for everyone! I was impressed by the depth and rarity of the collections. Make note of John's wonderful artwork woven in to the displays as well. My 12-year old son was enthralled. Oh, and there's a store too -- games, comics, artwork and one of a kinds that you can call your own. Thank you John for this oasis on Route 1!

The toy museum is a must see when you are going down the coast of Maine. Make sure to set aside at least an hour, as this is one of those places where you will see additional details as you look more closely. John was a wonderful guide, extremely knowledgeable, and personable. This is a must see! Don't skip the museum portion! It is well worth the $$.

We return to this fantasy land nearly every year, and invariably discover something different that mesmerizes. This time, its the art in the form of wood carvery. The toys are still there, of course, but viewing the art in the gallery is not to be missed, either. Since the accompanying photos are mere details from the finished pieces, you can imagine that you might want to haul in a stool to sit and stare for a while, provided the artist/owner will let you.

Absolutely incredible museum! So many one of a kind pieces. The owner is very knowledgeable and passionate. Amazing wartime toys, including the legendary Mickey Mouse gas mask. It's easily the best collection of early 1930s Disney and Fleischer animation memorabilia I've ever seen!

As a Mainer growing up on the coast I had driven by Fawcett's many times, always intrigued but never having the time to stop. It isn't in any of the major coastal towns of the area but is between a few of my favorites. In my rush to get to Rockland, Boothbay Harbor or get pie at Moody's I just never had the time to stop. Boy, am I glad I got the chance to stop today! We got to the museum as it opened and were the first to pay the $6.50 admission ($7.00 with credit card) and be allowed entry. I spent the entire time in utter amazement at the vastness, thoroughness and uniqueness of John Fawcett's collections. Every room had so much to see and I found myself going back again and again to take each object in. What I appreciated more than anything was that this wasn't just a random collection of toys - but toys as art. The amount of care that was taken to find objects that are not just nostalgic but are true works of art in their own right was amazing. John's own talents are evident throughout the entire museum with his own fanciful and accomplished art work and the keen eye he has used to put his collection together. There was truly something for everyone from the Disney lover to Sci-Fi fanatics and what has to be the most awesome Lone Ranger collection ever to be housed in single room. The entire experience is overwhelmingly joyous and something I definitely want to experience time and again.

My partner and I stumbled across this place while camping in the area and I couldn't have been more blown away. The store and museum is basically a treasure trove that you can't take in all at once. John, the owner, was incredibly pleasant and SO knowledgeable. He gave us tons of information on the building, its contents, as well as stuff to do and places to eat in and around maine! Honestly I couldn't have been happier with my experience, especially because of how affordable the admission was! All and all, this is such a worthwhile visit, and John is an amazing artist who (if he has time) you should be so lucky to pick his brain!

Extraordinary collection of pre WW II toys, with the best Lone Ranger collection in the world. John is serious about his collection and well organized. His stories on the early Disney films is top notch, especially Bambi. Make sure to check out the decoder rings and get the back story. And a final point from personal experience (not mine own but my husband's) Don't Touch anything. It is a museum

This museum was even better than expected. It was filled top to bottom with original art, antique toys, and TV and movie props. It is obvious the owner is passionate about his collection. He gave us a tour and had a wealth of knowledge about every piece. I learned so much about the history of toys and media. I plan on stopping back every time I visit Maine.
