Was sold a forgery. Fake trilobite fossil. After cleaning gently I discovered the dirt on the specimen was intentionally put there to cover up where the piece was glued together. Everything else in the store was priced laughably high. Guess the only reason this one was a decent price was because it was Fake. This is a tourist trap. Of the 6 rock shops I went to in maine this one is hands down the worst I've seen.

Passed by this store on vacation and immediately turned around to check out the geodes. The store is beautiful and interesting. The staff is so friendly and informative and really made the stop a fun experience rather than just a shopping trip. We'll definitely remember this place for years to come and I hope to come back again someday!

Cool store. Went in because my daughter wanted to. Saw some cool stuff. This was the best thing I saw there, didn't buy it - but it was definitely really beautiful.

Stumbled upon this on our journey up the eastern shoreline. This was one of my daughter's favorite rock shops (and mine too). The owner has a beautiful car, and in keeping with the rock theme, it is an Opal. The owner and another local were very friendly and showed us all kinds of amazing rocks and specimens. They have a nice little spot with UV lights and showed us some really amazing rocks that are reactive to UV light. Very knowledgeable fellows with nice pieces. My daughter loved her Hematite ring she bought there and was very sad when she lost it yesterday. It's definitely worth a stop and enjoy a story or two from the owner.

This is one of my favorite crystal shops! They have a wide selection where there's something for everyone, no matter your budget.
They have a section of locally sourced minerals. Some pieces have even been mined by the owner.
A lot of the inventory has its source labeled, and the staff are also super friendly and helpful.

Awesome place to go for children and adults! They do sell reasonably priced jewelry. But the most interesting and fun for children is their rock collections, mostly Maine, but other places too. Moved and miss going there every wk during the summer!

I have driven by this place so many times and wanted to stop and just hadn't done it. Today that changed. Love this cute little shop. Very friendly service with lots of options. Also if you pay with cash they pay the sales tax.?

A visit that includes chatting with the owner, Elwyn, is always a highlight for me and my family in our annual trips to Acadia from Boston! Elwyn always has an interesting story to tell, often related to his deep knowledge and worldwide travel to acquire his great variety of rocks, minerals, and fossils.Picking out a geode and cracking it to be, ‘The first people ever to see inside!’ is always fun and provides a beautiful keepsake or start for a new ‘rock hound’ collection!

Great unique place. My family were regulars here over 20 years ago as my son grew up and fell in love with " The rock shop" in the late 90's through out early 2000 .
