DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM HERE. They tell you a great family vehicle and so nice. One month later broke down causing thousands of dollars for repairs. They will not service the vehicle or stand by it. People are being paid for positive reviews. Look up the review statement. 16,000 vehicle and and they DO NOT STAND BY THEM OR REPAIR THEM>

Purchased a VW Touareg from Duval Auto Sales last month and couldn’t be happier with the vehicle or the customer service. This is the second vehicle I’ve purchased from them! Honest business that does their very best to offer quality used vehicles at a reasonable price. FYI first vehicle I purchased is still going strong!!!

I bought a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan from Duval Auto a year ago for $12,000. The car was a nightmare from the start and so was the service. In the first few weeks I was experiencing erratic idling and engine misfiring. When I called the owner, I was told the warranty only covered repairs that would keep the car from passing inspection. They basically offer the lowest warranty mandated by the state of Maine--it's not a warranty; it's a law. He said to not bother bringing it to them since they wouldn't cover the repair. I was told to bring it to my local mechanic.
After I spent $800 at my local shop and the problem became worse with the car stalling while driving, they finally agreed to look at the car. To their credit, they did fix it for free, but that was nearly three months after I bought it, during which time, I essentially didn't have a running vehicle for my family. And it took a dozen phone calls and persistence on my part before they even agreed to help. These guys have all been in the car racket for a long time, and I feel like they don't think about the day-to-day implications of their cars breaking down on regular people. On multiple occasions the car left my wife, kids, and I stranded in the middle of winter. (See pictures below of the times it had to be towed. What you don't see are my tearful five and seven year old.)
A couple months after they fixed the stalling and misfiring, the turbo went on my Tiguan. It cost $4,300 to fix! ($2,300 for the part. $2,000 for labor because bolts had rusted after a decade.) This is a very common problem on these models that the dealer never told me about when I asked if these cars had any issues, and they pride themselves on being Volkswagen specialists.
This brings us up to earlier this month--just over a year into owning this car. The check engine light came on again and the codes were for a misfiring engine, one of the problems this car initially had. My local VW garage said it would cost $2,000 to address the problem, but it might keep misfiring after the repair since these engines are notoriously bad. I was already $17,000 into a car that's now worth more than half that, so I cut my losses. I traded it in to a different Maine dealer who barely wanted it, offering me only $3,000.
Buying a car from Duval Auto has wrecked my finances in a way that I'll be cleaning up for a long time. I regret the day I walked into their Turner office.
I'm sure the owner will comment on this post about how they tried to do everything they could to help me out and how they always want to do what's best for their customers. But in the words of Flavor Flav, "Don't believe the hype!" Buy a car somewhere else.

July 2023 I got a 2015 Santa fe. He promised it was a great family vehicle that would last awhile. 4000 miles later and it has been at the shop a hand full of times and I have just got the news that the cadyletic converter AND engine are gone. All I got for a response from the owner of Duvals was that is weird theres no recalls. Very poor choice to go here and trust his word.

The purchase experience was great, but the car was not. The car was so bad out of alignment that it scraped the tread off of the back tires and both failed. We spent almost $1k on new tires and attempts to have the alignment issues repaired. After 3 visits to the mechanic, we're told that the rear alignment cannot be fixed. The 2nd set of tires are now ruined and the car is not driveable. $13k down the drain. The leather seats were painted to look nice, but the paint is now cracking and looks terrible. We also had to replace the PRV. I don't think it's right to present these cars as "good" when there can major issues with this one.If you're going to get a car from here, ask to have it looked over by your own mechanic first.

My wife and I are very happy with a 2013 VW Tigan we purchased from Duval Auto Sales. They was priced fair and the car looks and runs like new. They also stand behind their cars if issues arrise unexpectedly. I would certainly recommend them for a good vehicle if your in the market for one. We will certainly be going back to them when we are shopping for our next car.

We needed a car for our daughter and this was by far the easiest car buying experience we’ve ever had. We paid a fair price , and the whole process was hassle free, headache free, and efficient. When we signed the paperwork we were in and out in about 15 mins, as apposed to the hours we have had to spend at the “big” dealerships.

I bought a 2010 Ford Focus near the end 2019, it has served my daughter and I well. Plan to return soon to look for another vehicle as we will need one soon. Not a replacement another ride to add to the fleet at my house.
